Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for which is good quality food. Also be prepared to have leftovers in your fridge because the portions are massive!
They don't deliver by the way. So don't be fooled by the little "highlights" on the side of the page. I love this place, but wish they had a delivery service. And that goes for pretty much all of the Chinese food restaurants in Vestavia.

So impressed! This was my first Chen Express experience, and I expected typical, decent Chinese. Typical it is not! When I ordered they told me my sesame chicken & crab Rangoon would be ready in 10 minutes..that's quick! When I got there, I was a little bummed by the price (around $17), so I hoped to be pleasantly surprised by the food. It definitely didn't disappoint, and now I see why the price is a little higher than I'm used to paying for a quick Chinese meal. First, the crab Rangoon was stuffed full of crab & cream cheese...definitely not your run of the mill, can hardly find any crab, cheese has cooked out of the wrapper, Rangoon. This was legit. Then as I began to eat my Sesame chicken I realized they actually used good white meat chicken! Awesome! I'm used to getting cheap dark meat that you're not even sure is poultry. On top of that, the batter was still crispy after the ride home. My only slight disappointment, and the only reason I didn't give this a full 5 rating, was the fried rice. It was ok. Didn't have much egg, and I'm a big fan of some egg in my fried rice. I can get past that for the quality of the rest of the food. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the packaging...everything that had sauce (the sesame chicken & the sweet & sour sauce for the Rangoon) came wrapped in an extra plastic bag so as to not seep out or spill in transit. It's the little things, and Chen Express got it right! Will definitely be back!

Best Chinese food in Cahaba Heights and Vestavia. Reasonably priced and quick friendly service. We "eat in" but it seems most "take out." Either way it's a winner. Closed Saturday but open Sunday at 11 am.

Amazing! I eat here about 3-4 times a week for lunch. They never disappoint. Food isn't greasy at all.
Best Chinese Food. This is the best Chinese Food place in the whole Vestavia Hills & Cahaba Heights area they're reasonable, & the food is always hot, fresh, & delicious. I would recommend it to anyone without a second thought.
Like It. Its consistent and fast. Staff is very friendly and we are never disappointed. We have it a couple times per month and always get take out. They never mess up an order and we always get enough for two meals. Enjoy!
FAV Fast Chinese. I couldn't disagree more with the previous review. I have been a fan of the Crestline Chen Express location for years and the new Chen Express II has not let me down. The people are always friendly and helpful and the Mongolian beef is my favorite. Their ingredients are fresh and consistent. If you like "fast" Chinese, I highly recommend this restaurant.

First time visiting because the Chinese food in my area has gone downhill, & my first impression is that even if the food was bad, I would come back simply because of how welcoming they are and how I felt like they were excited I came.
Coworker had the sesame chicken. He said it was good. I had Mongolian chicken & it was good. If they add a little spicy I'd probably say it was great. I'll order something spicy next time I go. Egg rolls tasted nice and fresh and perfectly crispy.
No complaints. I already see some stuff I want to try so after a few more trips there I'll update my review to give an overall impression on consistency. Which to me is most important.
I ordered house egg fu young as a carry out to give them a try based on reviews I read. I am happy to share with you that it was AWESOME, different from others I have had but that made it better. Instead of just getting a few big patties and some gravy much to my surprise it was packed with awesome vegetables and gravy along with two patties matched up with the white rice I was a very happy camper in my hotel room and for the price I think I came out as good as you could ever imagine or better. I would recommend them and probably visit them again before I leave this week to try one other item out on the menu. Thank you!

The absolute best food in Birmingham regardless of price! Always hot, fresh and the employees are friendly and so happy to help you. I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered and the food I take home is still boiling hot after almost an hour drive. You will never go wrong with this jewel in cahaba heights!

Wow! This Chinese food is actually, for real, good! This is the third time we have eaten here and our second "last minute takeout" but it certainly won't be the last. Nick helped us out with our kind of spastic phone order and remained not only calm but cool! He was super helpful for the second time we've met him.
