Really enjoyed my chocolate chip pancakes and our server was kind! Nice local restaurant. Fairly busy on a Saturday morning, around 11 am.
Only downside—I did not enjoy my sunny side eggs at all. They were slimy, so couldn’t finish it. I should have ordered fried eggs instead.
The food, service, and atmosphere was fantastic! The Virginian is a great neighborhood family restaurant and I give kudos to the waitstaff for their were very few open tables, but the staff ensured everyone was taken care.
The restaurant owner, Manny, ensured he got around to every table to chat briefly with the patrons. This small act was very impressive in building and maintaining a customer base.
We lucked out and were able to be seated right away. A line formed right after us, but the food is definitely worth the wait! You might consider eating at the bar for a fun change of pace.
My food was hot and delicious with eggs over medium cooked just right. The hashbrowns are absolutely delicious! I cleaned my plate! Not a single morsel was left.
Plenty of parking lot spaces.
My lunch arrived hot and tasted great, with perfectly cooked eggs over medium. The hashbrowns are amazing to the extreme! My plate was finished! There was not a scrap of food left.
The new dinner items was great! Honey stung Chicken was out of this world. Will be back. They just extended their hours for Thursday-Saturday for dinner. 3:30pm-8:30pm
The food was nice!

"Horrible customer service. Maria was completely rude and kept us waiting and told us to leave if don’t have time to wait longer. She said she was the manager there. This is on a Tuesday morning when it was not busy."
Unfortunately, names have been mixed up here, or this was just a blatant lie for whatever reason. How do I know? The person she mentions doesn't work on Tuesdays ever, and only worked on weekends, and isn't a manager. There is however a server/manager that works on Tuesdays, but her name isn't Maria.
Also, I know she didn't lie one because she doesn't and she is super sweet, and two she has not been working at The Virginian Restaurant for the past 4 months (2 months before the post saying that she was rude). She hasn't been able to walk and has been recovering from surgery. Felt like it was only right to stick up for her.
Old fashioned American type traditional restaurant for v nice breakfast and coffee. V nice sincere waitress/waiters, long-term loyal customers. Food = v fresh = well prepared !! Cheers my friends, enjoy !!
Stopped in for lunch with my girlfriend, but she ended up having pancakes, bacon; I had a ham and cheese omelet, home fries with toast. The pancakes were quite large and the bacon crisp!
The omelet was very cheese and had plenty of ham in it -- it was cooked just right. I also ordered a large orange juice which was served a large mug.
The restaurant was very clean. The staff was very attentive to the patrons.
The prices are very reasonable. Will be back soon as possible.
Update: August 8, 2023 -- went for lunch with a friend. She had the 3 eggs, hash browns, toast with side of bacon; girlfriend had blueberry pancakes, side of bacon. I had a bacon cheeseburger, side of french fries. Everything was nice and fresh and delicious.
Service was very good; restaurant very clean.
5 stars because their creamed chipped beef is the best anywhere. Same recipe for 50 years. As a matter of fact, same carpet, cieling tile, same emlpoyees. Please dont change a thing. Takes me back to the first time I went here as a child. I come there for a double order of creamed chipped beef. Hold the hash browns. I need to stoop in again.
It's a great place here! The staff is great, and the space is modest yet clean and cozy. When I go first thing in the morning, it's generally quiet. The meal is fantastic!
A lost treasure in Vienna, VA, The Virginian Restaurant is an authentic rare endangered species, the few last diners holding their ground against the corporate industrial food complex. Serving fresh, natural, delicious diner food as God meant it to be. The home fries alone is worth a trip to TVR, they are simply perfectly delicious, fresh and crispy. I’ve literally have driven across the country twice in a quest to find authentic diners’ home fries, and I testify the TVR serves the second best home fries since I arrived in the USA in 1987. The ribeye steak and fried eggs were also at the top of the chart. And the servers were as friendly and proficient as it gets. I am bound to come back to TVR for dinners and breakfast as long as I am in Virginia. Simply loved it! 😋😍
Been going here for years - food is always incredible and staff is very friendly. New owners have come in recently but it's kept its charm and overall nice vibes
Great place to eat I travel all over the USA hard to find decent restaurants this place was great. The waitress was kind and wonderful. I did not get her name but she was wonderful.
Great local place. Great seating at tables or the counter. Reliable food, service seating and coffee. Great with friends or families, or by yourself. I'll be back.
As part of my ongoing project to try to help restaurants tide through the pandemic, I have been plating and taking photos of takeout food with the hope that they will increase orders.
I heard that The Virginian Restaurant needed more love, so I got takeout today. Here's a photo of the Country Fried Steak with Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, Sausage Gravy, and Rye Toast.
I told the nice lady at the cash register that I didn't need any other condiments or utensils but would appreciate it if they could pack the sausage gravy separately. They were so generous with the gravy!
Anyway, one of the benefits of takeout is that I can eat my fries with Kewpie Mayonnaise and Old Bay. Have you been pimping your takeout too?
Well, this place was a delight.
We were looking for something simple and reasonably priced. Restaurant had an old fashioned diner feel and the wait staff was extremely sweet and kind.
Daughter had pancakes. Hard to mess those up, but they were big and perfectly cooked. Son had a Belgian waffle w/ scrambled eggs and was very happy. I got a high-protein breakfast with three eggs and two meat sides -- I chose bacon and gyro meat, which was tasty but just a little dry. I asked for 2 eggs scrambled and one fried, and they accommodated me. Overall, quite satisfactory.
If you ask for a fried egg, be sure to specify how you want it to be cooked. I didn't and I got it well done. I like my yolks just a little runny.
For dessert, the kids enjoyed a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie and I stole a taste or two. Delicious crust, tasty filling, but a little too runny for my taste. I think it would have been better if it were less chunky on the inside -- strawberries could have been sliced more thinly. But the flip side of that coin is that the pie didn't skimp on berries in the filling -- they were big and plentiful. A yummy slice of pie overall.
I told them we'd be back next time we're in the area.
when we are there we are treated like family.
Manny Waffles and Candy Cane Waffles are my favourites. Very bear friendly also.
