Phenomenal meal! Great prices! We had the best time! I would rate this place much higher if it was an option!
The wife and I went to relax and enjoy the view. We moved away and came home for a visit. This completed our visit. We use to come here when it was called the Sandbar. We were so excited to get our favorite drink we always got, What The Duck!!! Best drink ever. You can't beat sitting in the deck watching the boats go by and dreaming about owning them. The service was amazing and the food as good as always. Highly recommend The Back Deck to anyone and everyone. We can't wait to come back in September to come again.

Fun, hip place for a casual dinner and/or appetizers and drinks. Beautiful venue overlooking the Lynnhaven River with gorgeous sunsets. Staff very friendly and attentive. Specials daily. Our favorite is Tuesday $2 fish taco night.
Place was packed on a Friday night. Had a great server named Kala. Food was quick and tasted great!
You can't beat a $7 mini-pitcher of mimosa/bloody-mary special on a Sunday! I had the jumbo oysters and the fish tacos, both of which were FANTASTIC! It was a little rainy yesterday when we went, but I have been when it's sunny and warm and it's a great spot to grab a drink on the water with a great view. Customer service was also great!
Even though it was very busy we found a seat at the bar the staff was very friendly and my favorite drink was What the Duck.
I wish I could recall our server’s name but he was awesome! 6 of us came for lunch on 3/31 with our Golden Retriever. Thank you for being pet friendly!

I loved sitting on the dog-friendly patio with great views, good service, a nice cool drink, and some spicy tacos. Just the right thing to do with family and friends. I'll be back. Dogs were welcomed and well behaved.

Hands down, the best place for an amazing sunset view, drinks and tasty food. The menu is light and simple, but the fish tacos are excellent. Everything we have had has been very good. Not a place to go if your starving and want a heavy meal, but perfect if you want to relax with drinks some light fare and have time to enjoy the atmosphere. The service has always been friendly and good. . The view alone is worth a trip to this local gem.

We went here looking for a nice lunch spot and found it. I've had fish tacos from all over San Diego and the one I just had here was by far one of the best I've had. The front of the place is The shellfish fish market and you'd never knowI they had a restaurant in the back, but it's a hidden gem. The atmosphere and layout is great. This is our new spot for Sunday's!
This is hands down, my favorite spot to have a drink as the sun goes down. This is a cool little bar built on the water, on the back of a semi upscale seafood market/ shop. The view of the back bay is excellent and very peaceful. The small menu is filled with steamed seafood options, fish tacos, personal pizza, a few salad options, etc. For the most part everything is terrific, however, every now and then they will over steam your shrimp when they get slammed. I was a big fan of the "pick your size" shrimp option they had until this past summer- the Jumbo size were amazing! All in all, this is my top spot to have a cold drink, and some good steamed apps. Note: Head next door to Bubba's for a full menu.
The service is great- they rotate their servers so everyone helps you out a little bit here and there but they're all very nice and attentive. The food menu is considered small but everything tastes very fresh and delicious.
I can't recommend this place enough. The seafood is fresh as can be, amazing view of the water, great atmosphere with amazing music playing, and the service was prompt, kind, helpful, and overall just fantastic. We got crab legs, a dozen oysters (fresh horseradish and cocktail sauce was a great touch), and a tomato flatbread. Everything hit the spot and they have great deals on wines too. Highly recommend!
Beauuuuutiful views and nice ambiance. Even on a 90 degree day the seated area stayed cool under the shade and ceiling fans. The food is straightforward, clean, tasty. I got a dozen oysters which were massive and flavorful. Also got a shrimp poboy and loved that the shrimp were steamed instead of breaded and fried. Hubby got a pastrami sandwich - great choice.

We were visiting family in the area and ask them for a good seafood restaurant and they told us about The Back Deck. We got there around 11:20am and it got busy pretty quickly. They have a few tables right on the deck that allows you to enjoy the sun and watch the boats. The view is amazing. The service was great, super friendly servers, very attentive and fast with delivering our drinks. the food was AMAZING, super fresh seafood and (per family recommendation) we tried the scallops cake sliders and they are out of this world! Super delicious!!! We also tried the fish tacos, crab legs and the steam seashore platter, which you can see in the picture the before and after. That was on point!!! Everything was Delicious!!! I will definitely be back when we are in the area again. It gets really busy on Saturday noon so if you get there around 12:30pm-1pm be ready to wait. Overall a Great place to chill with family and friends!!! I highly recommend it!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Quiet not so fancy place with good food and cold drinks. Yellow tuna fish tacos were a good suggestion from the bartender.

Easy 5 stars. Everything about this restaurant is great. Food was really good and the sangria tasted great. It's right on the water, so you can't really beat the location. Fair prices and friendly staff! It gets crowded so it is best to get there around opening time. Highly recommend!
Back Deck located in Virginia Beach is definitely a hidden gem in the Lynnhaven inlet. You can’t go wrong with the $8 Bloody Mary in a pitcher.
Chairs are uncomfortable if your short. A pillow behind your back would make me want to stay there all day.
Food is fantastic. The crab dip is amazing for $15 but does not give you enough pita chips. It’s an extra $4 for pita chips. Orange Crush was good. Made with orange juice though. 🧡🍑
Flatbread pizza is the way to go for food at only $10 for one topping. The view is simply amazing. I definitely will come back here again.
Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere!! Lovely place by the water where you can chill and eat while perfectly enjoying the weather and ocean by the marina. Food was delicious, we had the Nachos and Greek Pizza (with chicken added to both), and the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. All very generous portions and delicious to boot. I highly recommend the Greek Pizza. The actual nachos themselves were actually really good even without the toppings! Usually nachos are only good because of what you put on them, but this was an exception! The service was fantastic. The way they do it is all the waiters serve all the customers, so you always have someone checking in on you. Natalie especially was fantastic: she was excellent at recommending things on the menu, honest about what was good and not good on the menu (including portion sizes), and very kind and attentive to us the entire meal. We definitely felt cared for and served at this place! Definitely plan on going back and would 10/10 recommend.
Great waterfront place, views are amazing, service was perfect. I like that there isn't just one waiter/waitress for your table or seat. Everyone checks on you and can take an order.

We love it here! This waterside location offers a good bar atmosphere, and great daily specials, including the sunset! It is like a true Key West vibe here, without all the trekking through Florida to get there!

Absolutely love this spot. You get the full picture from the name alone. Excellent spot on the water with incredible views. Easy to spend hours here hanging out. We live in MA and my Sister in Law and family live right down the street from here, so we come in every time we visit, probably 3 times a year. Highly recommend!
