I just stopped by to check this place out. It wasn’t busy in the early afternoon and I really wanted to investigate the meaning behind the name of the establishment and of the road. Turns out there used to be a real Pleasure House back in the day at the end of Pleasure House Road. It crosses Lookout Rd where a lookout would ring a bell if the police were seen coming. Fun history!
The beer is good and there is a large shaded back patio with a second bar open late afternoon and evening. They also have food trucks. Looks like a great place to hang out with friends!
We really liked this place. Great atmosphere, accommodating space and interesting staff only add to the very solid beer lineup. Nice selection across the board, not just mired in the midsummer IPA push. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. 7.3/10
Really enjoyed this place. Had a great time hanging with my coworkers after a long day. The beer is amazing and the atmosphere has a really good vibe. Great music choices as well!
Since moving to VA Beach and discovering Pleasure House Brewing shortly afterwards, I continue to go about once a week usually in the afternoon. The beers are great! I love most of their IPAs and I enjoy their stouts and porters. My favorite IPA is Hail and Farewell.
I enjoy talking with the bartenders, Kevin and Tim, and getting to know other regulars. I know the evenings are much busier, but I like the mid-afternoon visits during the week because it is quiet and a little more laid back.
I came to Pleasure House Brewing most Wednesdays for a year straight for weekly trivia. I think the beers are decent, and the atmosphere is pretty wonderful - especially on the back patio where dogs are allowed. Trivia is fun if you actually want time to socialize - about 1 question every 10 minutes with a wagering system that seems unique and fun.
We played in the Corn hole league here, and it pray the sweet young lady behind the counter did her best to accommodate me when I found out my favorite beer had been taken off the menu, I really appreciated that. The staff have always been nice. I like how they host trivia and music bingo as well. :)
DOG FRIENDLY!! Game themes almost every night and super food trucks! Love the gas fireplaces and the inside was very clean. There was front indoor and outdoor seating as well. A small dart room was provided inside near the bar too. There's a very cool viewing area that overlooks the outdoor seating area with an outdoor bar to order from. It could use extra parking but great area for the location!
Beer is great and I love that there are several areas to enjoy your drinks. They have a game room with a fully stocked game cabinet, the main bar area, a small bar game area with darts and shuffle board, a covered porch, and an outdoor patio with food trucks.
