I dream about the Plaza. Over the 10 years I lived in Virginia Beach I must have eaten at various Plaza Azteca restaurants thousands of times. Since moving from VB out to Nebraska, I dream about their cheese enchiladas. I have never, in my life, loved a restaurant as much as I love Plaza Azteca. Absolutely one of the best.
This is hands down my favorite Plaza Azteca location. The food never disappoints. It is always fast, hot, and delicious as you come to expect from this chain. However, there is something extra special about the food and service at this location. And the consistency is amazing. This is THE mexican restaurant for us in Hampton Roads.
5/25/23 - went to eat here on a Tuesday night.They had some margaritas specials for the night. I got a flavored peach margarita and it was super good. The other people in my party got the house and mentioned how they added orange juice to it which they liked. The food was good as well but I felt pretty expensive for what you get. I got the shrimp tacos. The interior was really nice and looked like it was recently upgraded. The server was super nice and fast on our orders and checked in a lot. One of our orders were wrong and he corrected it quickly. It was nice to know you can get margaritas to go still. Overall good but again feel it was a bit expensive for what you get.
Better than expected. For a chain restaurant that started out great, then in some locations became too commercial, this Azteca was great. Service was quick, food was very fresh and atmosphere was calm. Went for a quick bite and a drink before a show. Didn't have to stress getting the check to get out of the door on time. We ordered fresh table side ceviche with citrus marinated fish and shrimp. It was so light, refreshing and full of flavor. Definitely going back!
I've been here for many lunches, and each time, it's great. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is nice. I tried the mango/strawberry margarita, and wow! So so yummy.
This pretty newly rebuilt plaza Azteca is one of my go to Mexican restaurants. The quality you get for the price is hard to beat. They have great chips and white sauce and their meats are all moist and delicious, especially their pork! Everything is packed with flavor and will fill you up with great portion sizes!

Stopped in last night and got Texas Fajitas, it was 22 bucks and it was not only tasty but very much worth the money. I usually get the rice with cheese sauce and shrimp, but passed last night. Now they have the cheese sauce, rice, and choice of different meats and veggies. Pretty smart, it's great tasting. Never disappointed with this chain.
Service was just as you would expect, great! The food was good also, will return.

Great Mexican restaurant. Food and service are good with the atmosphere being perfect. It is a little on the pricier side for Mexican, but the food honestly makes up for the price difference. Enchiladas Chipotle is definitely a good pick.
The Plaza Azteca Restaurant at 5209 Providence Rd in Virginia Beach is our family's favorite place to eat! We are proud to say we are "repeat customers" because everything they serve is always excellent, served fast, and the staff is friendly, courteous & attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant to all our friend & family, as well!
Staff was nice & attentive. They all wore masks & sat people comfortably but safely spaced.. Food came out fast & was so delicious!!! Also the margarita tasted great & was surprisingly strong
Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants to dine at. They always get my special requests right. Fast and friendly service.
Omg amazing food. The Texas Fajitas are 🔥 I get them everytime. Drinks are on point too. Love the music as well.
