Great lunch and breakfast. I stopped by Donkey Dawg's with my son and had the pulled pork sandwich for lunch. It had a good smoked flavor and came with perfectly cooked fries. The sauce on the table was real good with a bit of heat. The following Sunday I took my wife for breakfast and had another great meal. This time the Hungry Dawg for me and the wife had a breakfast sandwich. Both were served nice and hot and we had mimosas to wash it all down. Our waitress was very engaging and by the time we left we felt like regulars. We will be going back often for really good, home cooked food in a very nice, clean, friendly environment.
The barbecue was tasty. My kids enjoyed their meal.
We stopped in here for a quick bite to eat and expected a hot dog joint but pleasantly found out that their fried chicken is awesome. It is crispy but with a thin crust and not oily. The chicken was moist and tender. The hot dogs are good too and the restaurant has several table as well as a large counter service area. The staff was engaging and friendly. Prices were very reasonable.
This is a hidden gem! The fried chicken is OFF THE HOOK, easily beating Pollards hands down and twice on Sunday! The owner and staff are always happy to see you, and welcome their customers like family. I am an Executive Chef and I know good food. It is always fresh, they even make their own sausage. If you are ever in need of a fantastic breakfast or lunch with even better prices, this is your best bet!

I haven't been back here in almost 4 years because I've been stationed somewhere else. It was nice to see that when I showed up it hadn't changed at all the sweet tea was still sweet the Fried Chicken was straight out of the fryer and absolutely to die for. It's a Hidden Gem local favorite that you would normally just drive by and maybe laugh at the name. That being said is absolutely worth the stop the food is delicious the staff is great and you definitely will not regret going to this establishment. The only downside is during the lunch hours it's usually packed there's not a lot of parking so you may want to stagger when you go there TimeWise.
Good prices, good food, great staff!!! I love watching these girls work this place. They know what you need and are thinking before you ask. Don't ever discount a waitress, these ladies are super smart and efficient so tip well. Great hot dogs, and the chicken, omg the Broaster's fried chicken is awesome!!! I get double wedges since they took the okra off the menu, it's pretty much my only complaint.
This place has recently come under new ownership which still has some finishing touches on it, but they are off to a great start. My husband and I really enjoyed our sandwiches and look forward to returning again. In the near future, I understand it will be given a new name!
Drove by this place and decided to stop for lunch. The staff was very friendly, the pulled pork BBQ and hotdogs were delicious and very reasonably priced. The home-made hot sauce is amazing too! Will definitely come back for more.
Definitely in my top 5 best places to eat in the area! Amazing Carolina style bbq! Real home cooking at a very reasonable price! I had the pulled pork bbq platter, it came with 2 sides and hushpuppies under 10$ so good it'll make you want to eat here everyday. If you are looking for a great home cooked meal this is the place! Support your local businesses and bring a friend.
Donkey? Do they serve Donkey? I don't think so, but maybe. My husband likes the barbecue here. It is a popular lunch spot with fried bologna on the menu. Cabbage, Collards, hot dogs. Not for me, but if you like that sort of thing cheap, this is a great place.
Great food and staff. Saddened by some of the reviews I read and the fact that some people don't know what a snappy dog is. If someone really thinks that an Oscar Meyer hot dog is a good hot dog then I don't know what to say.
Take your pick of chopped or pulled, this is the place to get the best barbecue in Virginia!
Fresh-smoked barbecue, yummy sauces, fresh homemade slaw, and a wide variety of other menu items! Donkey Dawg's is always my very first stop when I return to Virginia Beach!
Now I'm craving barbecue...
Will always return, and would highly recommend.
Yowza with a side of wowza to go with your Cole slaw. Great atmosphere, ample parking and VIP entrance for those parking in the rear lot. The food is simple and delish! The ladies behind the counter are wicked awesome. On my next trip to VaB, I'll be stopping by DDs, fur sure!
It's a true locals spot! The service is great, always smiling...and the food is GOOD! Good BBQ at that, it puts big chain restaurants to shame. A stop is a must if you're in the area!
The barbecue is delicious, especially with the homemade coleslaw. Friends all raved about their choices too: fried chicken, homemade soups, fresh veggies, and more.
