Went here for the first time this evening. Can't believe I've driven past it a million times and never thought to stop. Glad I did today. Our server June was amazing and our chef was incredible. The atmosphere was very comfortable and family friendly. We got filet mignon and chicken hibachi. Everything was delicious. My kids were like they have the best water lol. Everything was just amazing. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you so much for such a welcoming first experience
This was our first time eating at Kamugi and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service.
Kamugi compared to the higher priced restaurants my wife and I have been too on the Hampton Roads area without the very high prices. You get a great meal for your money.
The Hibachi chef entertained us as he cooked our food and was very skilled.
The section that asks us what food we recommend is not all-inclusive. We had the Fried Calamari, Spicy Sashimi Salad, and each of us had a hibachi order (steak & shrimp / scallops & lobster).
Definitely recommend this restaurant to try at least once and hopefully you'll have a great experience like we did.

This place is our favorite Hibachi restaurant in VA Beach. The food is always amazing! Sushi is exquisite, perfect mouth sized bites and extra tasty. They also have noodle options for their hibachi, which a lot of places don't have. The owner always makes a point to chat with us, which is very welcoming.
I eat sushi once a week to keep my thyroid functioning properly. Today we decided to try this family style hibachi restaurant.
Upon entering we were promptly greeted by a very friendly gentleman (Jun). We chose to sit in a booth since we came for sushi. We ordered 4 rolls - California, spicy tuna, cucumber, and vegetable. Not the best sushi in town, but good.
The portions of ginger and wasabi were pretty small, the wasabi was a bit lacking in spice, and the soy sauce very salty, but not worth complaining about.
The charm of this little restaurant and the friendliness of the service made it worth while. A very family friendly vibe. And, I think a good way to introduce kids to sushi. A little more on the bland side.

I would rate this experience about 3.5-4 stars. There wasn’t much special about it. The white sauce tasted like store bought yum yum sauce and not hand made. The drinks were good!

This place was AMAZINGGGGGG!! We didn’t get to do a dinner for our twins boys birthday the day before. We felt bad going in at 850, when they close at 9:00PM. They were soooo happy to seat us, and make sure we felt welcome! WE WILL DEFINITELYYYYY BEEEEEEEE BACKKKKKK!!
What a wonderful experience. We live right down the street and it was our first time. Great service and welcoming from the owners! Hard to find a good hibachi spot and this will now be our go to!

We sure did have an exceptional time at Kamugi. We were in Sandbridge visiting from Michigan and we came here to celebrate a birthday. The food and service were top notch. Everything was so delicious and we had SO much fun. Thank you! Thank you! You made our birthday celebration so memorable. We highly recommend this family owned business and hope to come back some day!
Mr. Jun is a rare breed in today's food and bev world. He cares so deeply about the food he serves and takes great pride in the work he does. It shows in his sushi that he makes, and I put his sushi in the top 3 places in the area after eating at most sushi places around.
Great customer service food was amazing. Great place to come to eat for vacation. Me and family enjoy ourselves it was 18 of us and they accommodated us the whole time we was there. Love it will be back.
The food was delicious! We had the chicken, shrimp and steak hibachi and the flavoring was perfect. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend and know we will definitely be returning costumers.
It has been a long time since my family ate at a Japanese steak house and this was so good. I ordered lobster and my husband got filet. Both were fresh and cooked perfectly. We had a party of 8 and everyone was happy. Our service was top notch. We ate there after church and had reservations but it was not crowded. I highly recommend this hidden gem in the Red Mill area of Virginia Beach. It will not disappoint!
We had a wonderful time at a great family restaurant. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The chef was entertaining and cooked the food excellently. The atmosphere was fun and family friendly. We enjoyed the fresh tasting vegetables and the well cooked meats, and seafood. We will return to Kamugi Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi
Me and my family just had the best experience here! We were having a birthday party and had 18 guests! The service was EXCELLENT and the food was delicious! All the staff were friendly and efficient and the chef was very humorous and amazing! Definitely now one of my favorites! Very impressed! Thank you all!
