My husband and I go to a local Thai place every week and have gotten to be friends with the owner, so I'd say we know good Thai food when we try it. Don't tell on us, but we actually thought the Red and Green Curry were slightly better. They do a very good Job on the spice level which I think is what it made it taste better. We like food spicy. The prices at this place were very reasonable too. The night we went, it was very busy, yet we thought our service was very good. I'd come here again since it was so good!

Busy. Friendly. Very good service. Has some nontypical menu items. Standards like saté and summer rolls were unusually good. Main dishes were very well spiced and dumbed down at all.

Surprise lunch. We stopped by Charley's one afternoon for a late lunch. Nice interior decor, very serene, peaceful and clean! They have multiple lunch specials in the afternoon which make it a welcome choice for expensive Kohala area. We were delighted to find out they allow customers to bring in their own beverages as they do not sell alcohol. Having been to the beach that afternoon we had a cooler with a couple beers so we were allowed to bring those in while waiting for our food. Our server was excellent - provided prompt attentive service. I had the mahi plate lunch special with pan seared mahi, steamed sticky rice and sauteed vegetables - delicious! Mahi was seasoned with nice sweet, but spicey flavors - but not overpowering. Hubby had the pad Thai and was equally happy. We really enjoyed our lunch experience here and will go back when we return to the big Island. Mahalo!

Good food. Had a good meal at Charlie's tonight. The Tom Yum Goong was spiced just right with great flavor. We also had Pad Saiu with mussels and Pad Talay Shrimp Mushroom. The Pad Saiu had a nice slightly sweet flavor and the Pad Talay was a tasty mix of vegetables in a good sauce. As with all of Charlie's dishes you get to order light, medium or spicy. I am a fan of heat, but be warned "spicy" can light a fire!! Enjoy.

I absolutely loved this place. We ordered pad Thai, Thai beef salad, another beef plate, a big jack catfish, and my personal favorite, the mango sticky rice. As a visitor I was surprised at how great the food was. I love Thai food and there are a few staple places that I go to on the mainland, but Charley's was very good. The atmosphere was relaxing and nice. The server was friendly and the cuisine was very good. The sticky rice is good, and the mango sticky rice which was sweet and coconutty was just delicious.

Enjoyable casual dinner. Had the red curry at the waiter's suggestion and it was our favorite of three dishes. BYOB. We'd definitely go back!

I was recommended this Resteraunt from the hilton concierge and it was such a great experiance. Quite busy but when the Garlic Shrimp, Mahi Special, & Pad Thai came out it was such a welcoming treat. 2 thumbs up in my book.

Was quite surprised with the low rating, however reading the reviews made us try it. I’d give them a 10 if that was possible. The food was delicious. I had the chicken pad Thai and my husband had the pork fried rice. We ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer.

Stopped in one night for dinner. Friendly efficient service. They had two types of ice cold Thai beer. We ordered tofu Pad Thai and Green curry. The soup I had was in cup size which was perfect. The food was absolutely amazing. Ingredients were fresh, flavorful and delicious.! Spice levels are serious so consider ordering one notch down if you don't care for overkill.

We planned to go to the sushi place, but they were totally booked, so decided to check this place out… so glad we did! The food was delicious, the service was fast and very accommodating, helpful with our young kids, and kept us happy. My fellow diners and I enjoyed different levels of spice and were all happy with how the food came out. Highly recommended it!!

This Thai restaurant is found in an outdoor mall near a variety of upscale waterfront resorts - perhaps the clientele that comes here just doesn’t appreciate good Thai food? Because Charley’s Thai pleasantly surprised us with flavorful masaman curry and a few other yummy dishes. The reviews do not do it justice as we also found the service quite good. As for the food - the pad thai was a little different than what’s usually found at the typical Thai spot but still flavorful with a bit of a smoky sauce. The papaya salad had a spicy zing to it and we had two options of rice (jasmine or sticky) for the curries. The masaman curry was delicious and full of veggies as requested. As for the service - our waitress was very friendly and efficient. When we mentioned needing a vegetarian version of the curry she also asked about fish sauce and made sure all of our other dishes didn’t have non vegetarian components. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and can get busy on a weekend, but we saw plenty of people come by and get takeout as well. Prices are also not extremely high like a lot of Hawaii tends to be for us continental US folks. Overall Charley’s is worth checking out when in the mood for good Thai food!

Wow! Fantastic food, with minimal wait and reasonably priced 😘 After getting tired of spending 200$+ on most meals for 4 during our week long Hawaii trip, we stumbled upon this small corner restaurant for a dinner. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly and efficient. The Spicy Chicken stir fry and Pad Thai with shrimp was outstanding. The spring rolls, Panang curry and Green curry were superb with the jasmine and sticky rice. And all for under 80$ - really worth it.

First off, just remember your not in Thailand! With that being said……. I had a Thai friend with me, so I will try to give very honest and accurate review! The service here was excellent! The staff was very nice and helpful! The food came out fast, and the food was very fresh! That being said, if you are looking for authentic Thai food, go to Thailand! You are in Hawaii!!!!!!! It’s close enough! The Eggrolls were very good! I had fried rice with beef, I ordered medium spicy and there was no heat at all! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ My Thai buddy had stirfry vegetables and the temperature on it was very good very spicy, lots of flavor and pretty close to authentic! That being said, it would have been much better with chips and salsa, and a burrito! 🤣🤣JK!! I would not make this a destination stop, but if I where in the area, I would definitely eat here again! Remember, lighten up, hang loose you’re in Hawaii!! 🤙🤙🤙🤙

We have been coming here for more than a decade, and we have never been disappointed. This is is a terrific place with quality food at a great price. It is a Thai restaurant but a number of dishes are prepared in a way similar to classic Chinese food. We love the Thai salad, fried tofu, cashew chicken stir fry and vegetable stir fried rice! Can't go wrong.

Hands down the best in the area. Compared to other overpriced restaurants this one is a gem. Other restaurants will take your money but won’t even make an effort to serve you good food. This restaurant was a savior. All the dishes were delicious.

This is our 2nd trip to the big island and our 3rd visit to Charley's. Fast, friendly service, delicious food, never disappointed! I ordered Pad Thai with chicken, my husband ordered Masaman Curry with chicken, both medium spicy. Their medium spicy is great! Not too hot, not too weak, definitely delicious. If you love Thai food, and are in the Waikoloa area, this is a must as you will love this restaurant.

The food was pretty good. Not as authentic as i wouldve liked but it was better than another place i tried in Hawaii. I ordered the #6 lunch special, grilled rib, papaya salad, and sticky rice, beef salad, Tom Yum Gai. They definitely missing herbs. The soup had raw tomatoes and celery in it which i thought was weird. The flavors were decent but they used oil to cook the beef instead of broiling the beef and then slicing it. This doesnt seem like a big deal but the oil coats your tongue and masks all the flavor. The food was also lacking lime and lemongrass was nonexistent. With that being said it is a decent place for Thai food considering your options. Give it a try

We decided to pick up since it was late and we had very limited options. We decided to give it a try. The food was okay! However the service was fast and portion size were good.
