I'm a pupusa fanatic and this place does not disappoint. Small footprint, local patrons, good food, inexpensive. What more could you want?!

Amazing Salvadoran food. They have Pilseners, pupusas and yuca con chicharrón, what else do you need in this world? Best place in the whole Washington DC area.

Delicious! We came here for a quick bite and everything was pretty yummy. They have natural juices as well those were pretty good. The place is small place not to many tables, however food and service was good.

I had never tried Salvadoran food until El Rinconcito and it blew me away. This place is an underrated gem. Spinach and squash pupusas were very tasty and homely. The burrito was unlike any southern American food I had ever tried, full of flavor. And the seafood soup was a challenge to eat, but very very tasty. This place is a must try if your in the DC area. We are also Muslim so we don’t eat pork or any non halal chicken or beef, and the staff were very accommodating of this and helped us choose our meals accordingly. Even without meat the flavor was amazing. The service here was excellent and was very welcoming and hospitable, reminded me of service back home. I only gave the atmosphere a 4 because it was a little small, and some people had to wait outside in the rain.

Awesome Salvadoran food. Very home style, everything was fresh and made in house. The pupusas was my favorite. You can taste how fresh the tortilla was. Great spot to support a local business and eat tasty food.

What a lovely experience! We rode our bikes from DuPont Circle to the restaurant for dinner and walked into a quaint space with a welcoming staff. Our server was adorable and attentive, he even let me take a copy of the menu when he saw me trying to grab a good pic of it. I keep it with my DC souvenirs. We did extensive research on DC restaurants and this one was often mentioned as the best El Salvadorian food in town. We each ordered the 2 pupusa plate. I had the Loroco and the Revuelta. It came with refried beans and this delicious cabbage, red onion, carrot marinated slaw as a topping. Top notch meal, and a great price. It's clearly a beloved neighborhood favorite and we can see why. Recommend.

This place is a gem hidden on 11th St. NW. The pollo y queso pupusas are delicioso! That chimichanga though, OMG! 😋🤤😋 I ate that platter in 2 halves because that chimichanga is so well stacked that just 1/2 will do you unless you have a healthy appetite. We received a bag of pickled something with our meal & we don't know what it was but it was good. I can tell you right now that I'll be going back. This place is super small so if you go in there with a large group of more than 6 people you've already seated half of the restaurant. This would be an amazing place for a small family gathering. The food is outstanding & prices are reasonable. My only negative comment would be that they didn't follow orders when my spouse asked them not to put guacamole with his food. He doesn't care for it so he didn't want it to be wasted. He only wanted sour cream & they added both anyway. He didn't eat the guac which ended up in the trash & that made him a little upset because it was a waste of food someone else could've eaten. He has a thing about not wasting resources. I don't blame him. Otherwise I give this place 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars.

When I lived in dc I order from this restaurant a lot, and my go to dish was either sopa de res or the seafood soup. For someone who love soup their food is very comforting. I’m back in dc to visit and I just had to come back to el rinconcito. Once again, not disappointed!

El Rinconcito appears to have a loyal local following, and with good reason. For lunch I had the chicharrones fritos ($17.55, tax included) which I found to be a simple but satisfying dish. The service was friendly and prompt.

Absolutely delicious pupusas for a great price. Definitely get the revueltas! The person I was dining with ordered the tamales de elote, which she said were also delicious. We tried the empanada de platano as well, and it was as fantastic as a plantain empanada stuffed with cream sounds. It's a small restaurant and a popular one, so it was tight quarters for lunch on a weekend, but I was very happy to have eaten here. Great food, great portions, great price! Glad to have stumbled across it when looking for lunch near the convention center.

El Rinconcito Cafe (translating to "The Little Corner Cafe") is a small Salvadorian restaurant that provides a breath of fresh (tasty) air to the largely new American flavors in this area of D.C. With friendly staff, their menu is pretty big - but the pupusas are the star here. The chicken and pork pupusas provide a hearty bite for under $5 each, though my favorite is the lorocco (edible flower), which adds a mild taste reminiscent of a faint artichoke or asparagus. The pupusas themselves are seared perfectly, with just a bit of cheese oozing out. And while some pupusas can be quite oily and wet, El Rinconcito manages to let the bread and fillings shine without overusing additional fats. A+ pupusas through and through. The slaw and sauce on the side is a perfect fresh accompaniment to the pupusas. I just wish they provide more of the sauce as the Salvadorian style salsa really brings life to pupusas. The corn tamale is also pretty tasty (moist with little chunks of smashed sweet corn) and saved me from starving during a long wait from delayed flights. They also have Horchata, but the flavor is a bit different from what you might traditionally expect - and, as I found out later, that's because Salvadorian Horchata is made differently than Mexican Horchata! Using Morro, cocoa, and other bold flavors, the Horchata has a sweeter, chocolate-y, earthy flavor to it. Sitting near a street corner, the restaurant is snug and ideal for an outing with a friend or two rather than a large group. For a very affordable and delicious snack or lunch, El Rinconcito is a fantastic spot to visit in D.C.

What a great hole in the wall! It was so cold and we were looking for something warm, and we saw that they served soup and that it was relatively inexpensive, and man were we blown away by the beef stew. It was SOOOO GOOD. It soothed the soul. There were carrots, tripe, tendon, bones, a knob of corn, and plantains, among other beef cuts. It was hot in temp and just enough in spice to warm you up, but not make you gasp for water. So good. The pupusa was also delicious! I loved the salsa on the cabbage. It was a bit acidic, and in conjunction with the pupusa as well as the beef stew, it was a perfect combo. Putting this in my "places to go in DC for delicious food" list.

Food is very tasty. I had the beef chimichanga and I thought it was pretty good. Also the pricing is very reasonable. The platter for chimichanga was $11. This place is in the heart of downtown DC so it's hard to get a better deal than that. I was there at the time that they were going to close and most of the clientele that time are people at the bar. I noticed many people coming and going with their takeout orders and those sitting at the bar. All 100% Mexican it seemed. Good friendly crowd. However don't expect to hold a conversation with anyone unless you speak Spanish yourself 🙂

Nobody does Salvadoran food like they do at El Riconcito Cafe. I first found out about this place from my boyfriend and his coworker who had been there once before. They raved about how great the food was but I honestly underestimated how good it was until I tried it. It’s a nice, small cozy restaurant with the authentic vibes. I have been there a couple of time by now but the first time I ordered chicken enchiladas which came with a side of rice and beans, guacamole and sour cream — 9/10. They have great portions for fairly low prices. I also tried their horchata with a shot of Hennessy; it was pretty good. The next time I went I got a chicken chimichanga which was also a hit. Their customer service is on point. This place is a must try! Overall the experience is 10/10
