Interesting take on a steak house, this one has one steak option on the menu to order and it comes with French fries. I’ve never seen this before but I won’t complain because it was good. You get 2 rounds of steak and fries which were pretty good portions. They had a good selection for dessert items, but I am a sucker for key lime pie so once I saw that I didn’t even look at what else there was. I am happy to say the key lime pie did not disappoint. Overall a great dining experience here, would be a lovely date night location. Worth checking out if you are in the DC area.
The food and service was up to par perfection. I totally recommend their brunch special and looking forward to seeing you all again soon. Thank you so much keep up the good work.
A single set menu of bread basket , an amazing dressed salad and not one but TWO portions of steak frites !
The have a lovely outdoor patio with daily curated cocktails! Our server Blanca was amazing , kind & attentive she even told us about the secret cocktail menu ! Shhhh
To end it all we had THREE of the most incredible desserts I’ve ever tasted ! A home made key lime pie slice from a local pie maker was top notch ! The chocolate cake was absolutely sinful but the sundae had to be my favorite !!!
Let me be clear on the matter: If you're looking to have a luxury steak, you're wasting your time going anywhere else.
The base meal is a little under $30, including salad, fries, and a steak. That's an incredible price. The salad is quite good; the fries are very nice; my steak was one of the best I've ever had. Thin cut with a gravy, it was awesome, and the portion was generous.
I also had an apple cider with bourbon, and believe you me, it was quite good. Additionally, the restaurant had to scoot my table over, something that I suppose under strict definitions was an inconvenience but nothing I would've thought twice about. For the trouble, my friend and I were given an extra drink.
Both food and service were great, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Next time I'm in DC, and I'm feeling upscale, I figure I'll just head there for a nice dinner. I urge you to do the same.
Dinner here was an amazing experience ! We have eaten here a few times before for brunch and dinner and you can’t go wrong with the steak frites!! The french toast for brunch is amazing. The service is always timely and a very welcoming environment . We will be going back for more blackberry sangria, soo good! (:
Wonderful steak restaurant. Each of our steaks were perfectly prepared & delicious. The salads ingredients were fresh & nicely seasoned. The bread, warm & tasty. And the dessert were huge & so good!! The service was attentive & friendly & the atmosphere pleasant. A very good evening.
Overall, an excellent experience, and I would definitely come back again. They have decent wine options of course. But as far as the star of this dinner experience, I thought the steak was fantastic as it is properly cooked to my liking and one of the most flavorful steaks I’ve had in my life. The sauce was excellent too—probably the best stake sauce I’ve had. Probably one of the best restaurant fries I’ve had too. Very happy with this experience! Simple food, simple menu—but probably the most flavorful steak meal I’ve had outside Michelin-star restaurants.
I came to this restaurant with some friends and I was impressed. I have an allergy to beef and mushrooms, seeing that is all they serve here they were accommodating in allowing me to bring outside food and still topped off my water, as my friends ate here. My whole friend group thoroughly enjoyed their food.
Our server was named Ricky and he was great, and had a good sense of humor.
I would recommend this restaurant to anybody!
. Being from out of town it’s hard to choose a restaurant. I am so glad we went to Medium Rare.
1. It is a set menu so just make sure you look before you go but the menu was amazing, fresh and you get a second serving-
2. The service was nice. It’s an experience, so there is time between apps, entree and dessert
3. If you do have a drink I had the lavender 57- it was a lovely drink and if you like lavender definitely a good choice
4. All the desserts looked delicious. I got the key lime pie and being from Florida, the pie did not disappoint and held its own over Florida Key Lime pie.
Over all a great place of an out of towner and would definitely recommend
Bread was good. Salad was OK. First round of medium rare steak was good. Second round of steak of medium steak was better. Free diet coke refill was great. Atmosphere was good. Music wasn’t very fitting (rap pop everything mixed all in). I had two salad forks instead of a steak fork. There were backed up toilet lines like crazy. Disclaimer we came during brunch and had the dinner menu. 10/10 recommend and will be coming back!
My family stopped by for brunch at Medium Rare in Washington DC after much recommendation. The dining room was hip and trendy but had those rustic touches. From our table we had a nice view of the kitchen where we can see various meals being prepared.
The brunch menu was concise, eliminating the indecision that can come from having too many options on the menu.
Our party opted for the 90 minute bottomless brunch and from there, our brunching began!
Hot and crunchy bread was served which was a nice intro, though it hardened over time and made it a bit more difficult to chew. Nonetheless it was still both fresh & good. The bread comes with butter only but upon request, the servers can provide balsamic and olive oil to elevate the flavor.
For my main, I had to get their steak frites due to the sole fact the restaurant is called ‘Medium Rare’. This turned out to be the star of the brunch. The steak was delicious, juicy and accompanied by their ‘secret’ sauce which was excellent. The steak came with fries that were thin and crispy. Exactly what you’d expect from restaurant quality fries.
While the portion size may be on the smaller side, it felt just right, emphasizing quality over quantity.
Medium Rare's commitment to a focused menu shows in their finessed dishes and careful execution. I’d say this location is a family friend choice for a memorable brunch in DC.
If I could give Medium Rare 6 stars, I would. My wife and I went here for my 40th birthday, we chose it based on reviews and it being a highly rated steakhouse in Washington DC, and based on the price of dinner. It's kind of nice to only have to decide what to drink and how you want your steak cooked! And then the surprise of getting a second helping! Seriously, everything was delicious and I will definitely come back when I'm in DC again.
Loved the experience here. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Super fun. Great tasting meat and sauce. Began with a salad. Steak and fries x2. Yum. Always pleasant when the menu has limited choices so one doesn’t have to think. Good prices. Our waiter Angel was a dream. Recommend.
This is a very cool and interesting experience. The food is good and plentiful. Couldn't quite finish everything that was put in front of me. The yogurt parfait was insanely delicious! The French toast on the other hand... Not sure, maybe it was just too fancy for me. It also took quite a while to get our food and the music was a little loud. I totally get why this place is popular, but maybe not for me.

We have visited this specific restaurant for over 10 years, always outstanding, wait staff is wonderful, atmosphere super nd of course the food is 'primo'. Always a must visit every time we are in DC.
We come here pretty regularly but it was our first time having the side dish of mushrooms which isn't mentioned on the menu but i highly recommend. Our waitress, Annika, was so sweet and went above and beyond to make our night perfect. All in all we had such a fun birthday night for our friend.
