Was walking downtown in Washington, DC today and this cute store caught my eye. Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken! Say what, who would imagine, sweets and chicken. Trust me, you’ll fall head over heels in love from the first bite. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Being a first timer I was guided over several selections. All were yummy looking, and I wasn’t feeling too adventurous so I choose some safe options. Next time, I’m going ALL in on everything. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, check them out!

Hole in the wall. Only tried the doughnuts... vanilla glazed and peanut butter and jelly were excellent. The glazed was very moist and yeasty with some substance - dense, not all air. The PB &J tasted just like a PB&J in the doughnut dough with lots of strawberry filling inside.

Delicious but definitely over priced donuts. Staffs were nice! I liked all kinds of donuts except PBJ and Vanilla one.

I wish I could give this place ten stars. This was the best food I had while in Washington DC. The only thing to keep in mind is that this place is TINY. Like you could probably fit 10 people shoulder-to-shoulder. But the honey butter chicken sandwich and key lime pie doughnut were so incredible. There are some chairs outside to sit on a nice day. I would absolutely go back.

Unfortunately their cherry blossom doughnuts were sold out when we went, so we grabbed creme brulee, vanilla glazed, and chocolate cookies and cream. They were all really good and we would go back there when we are in the area. They also have fried chicken which also looked good as well. Would recommend when going near the white house or Smithsonian area .

Interesting selection of pastries available in DC. The dough was nice, light, and fluffy. The fillings were truly delicious. The tart cherry and peanut butter and jelly were incredible. I'd highly recommend stopping by for a quick doughnut or chicken sandwich.

Ok, first thing first, this is not the cheapest place to get donuts in the DC area, but you’re probably not looking for the cheapest option! Cost aside, the food was amazing! I went here a couple times during my recent trip to DC and everything I had was amazing. I had the breakfast chicken sandwich on a cheddar biscuit, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough donut, the Maple Bacon donut, and the PB&J donut. The restaurant is carry out only, but they have seating out front. This is a must checkout restaurant if you’re in the DC area!

I stop here every time I visit DC. The chicken fingers are smaller in size but you get a lot! And the tater tots, yum! Get their honey mustard dipping sauce, it's got a bit of zing to it. I've had the BBQ sauce too, equally delicious. DO NOT MISS the donuts!! I got their holiday Christmas Cookie donut, and wow is it good. Not overly sweet, but it is a bit on the heavy side. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. They also serve breakfast, and they have a beer haus right next door. Don't delay, check out Astro today!!!

Got the fried chicken on cheddar biscuit. Added cheese, egg and the honey butter. Hot sauce onto the side. Also a raspberry cheesecake donut. They were pretty good and satisfied my chicken biscuit craving. I should have added bacon too. Donut was fine. I'd go back to try again, and try the Cinnamon donut.

This place is tiny, with a few tables outside, but it's worth the wait. I liked the cake donut the best, but the star of the show was the chicken. I tried it both on the cheddar biscuit and brioche bun...it's basically a toss up. The staff is very friendly as well.

Chicken sandwich was amazing! And the doughnuts were equally as good! Service was quick, they don't have indoor seating so we ended up taking ours to go.. but if you're in the DC area I would recommend this place for a quick treat

This is what you’re looking for if you’re looking for an actual flavored donut. They commit. Instead of calling it a a Oreo donut and crumbling ores on top of a plain yeast donut, this place does not just sprinkle something on top and call it a day. The key lime pie donut was amazing and the banana was super banana-y. A little too ripe, but I applaud the thoroughness. Majority of them are stuffed with a unique inside, I think mainly flavored puddings

If I could give 10 stars I would. The employee here made my trip so much better, I will never forget it. This happened in October. I didn't catch his name a younger gentleman I believe Hispanic but may be wrong. I purchased a honey fried chicken sandwich and 2 donuts for me and my girl. The sandwich after 1 bite was so good I needed another one even though I wasn't hungry it was for my girl. After paying for the 2nd one I sit down to eat outside and open it to take a bite and something splashes on me and over all our food. I look up and 2 stories up is a window cleaner or something. He dropped his chemicals all over our food and when I said hey and pointed at my food he started laughing. I don't know if he speaks English my girl starts yelling at him in Spanish and he slowly lowers to the ground I calm her down and tell her it's fine to not worry about it. I went in to purchase another one because the contractor outside not affiliated with astro doughnuts dropped chemicals on our food and the employee said to not worry about paying and he got me. I was so surprised and that act of kindness did not go unnoticed my brother. Keep up the good work 👏 I went back in about 10 minutes later to thank him and give him a good tip. 👍 the contracting company never took responsibility and the manager came over but didn't offer to pay us back he said we should have not sit where we did because there was a single cone under the guy 2 stories up and no one else safeguarding the area if a whole bucket that was dropped. After though the contractor put up more cones.

The chicken sandwich was good. Chicken was moist and the donut fluffy and airy. The maple bacon donut was just the right portion of sweet and salty. The staff were friendly and courteous making this a very pleasant visit for the first time. It is a small shop, so prepare to order and go.

The donuts were sweet and soft. The Asteroid chicken sandwich was just ok. While the chicken was fried nicely, the overall sandwich was dry because of the skimp toppings. Also the hot sandwich was mild at best and I needed to add a lot of hot sauce for both spice and to wet the bun. Would come back for the donuts but I would hesitate to return for the sandwich.
