Solid ramen spot with happy hour drinks and amazing food. Tried this spot out for Friday happy hour and was not disappointed. Had thr Spicy Teryaki bao buns and two different bowls of ramen. Everything was delicious. Can't beat $6 hour cocktails and $3 beers for happy hour. Ambiance at the bar was cool, although we would definitely come back to check out a regular table spot.

Most delicious ramen I have ever tasted! Stumbled across this restaurant around midnight on our first night touring DC and had an amazing experience. Our waiters were very kind and gave us tips on the area. The food was great with such reasonable prices as of $16. Would recommend!

It’s Ramen time!! There are a rack (quite a few) restaurant options with ramen. So me & one of my fellow creators @danigirl_living (Follow Her DOPE reviews), found a ramen spot that you should hit!! Let’s GO!! . Where I am: @chaplinsresturantdc . Location Reviewed: 1501 9th St., N.W. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: Maze (mixed noodles), Craft Ramen including Miso, Veggie Shio, Chicken Yakisoba, Fried Wonton, Edamame, Chicken Katsu, Pork Ribs, Fried Tofu, Cocktails, Beer, & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Fried Wontons (with cream cheese, onions, crab salad, & sweet & spicy sauce $8). STAMP!! The BEST I’ve EVER HAD!! Crisp, cheesy, mildly spicy!! Their Tori Karage (Japanese fried chicken with sweet & sour sauce $12). LIKE THAT!! Crunchy, meaty, and upgraded sweet & sour chicken!! Their Chicken & shrimp shumai (napa, cabbage, onion, scallion, mushroom, bok choy, garlic, ginger $11). LIKE THAT!! A tasty savory minced meat combination!! Their Chicken Yakisoba (pan-fried ramen noodles with napa, cabbage, carrot, onion, bean sprouts, scallion, sesame oil, pickled ginger $16). DECENT. Plentiful, but I needed a tad bit more flavor. Their Chaplin Asian Spicy Sour Chicken Bowl (with chicken broth, Asian spicy sour, chicken chashu, scallions, lemongrass, coconut milk, Bok Choy, corn, red chili, & cilantro $17). STAMP!! Truly delightful, a spicy creamy broth, lean chicken, and perfectly balanced ingredients!! Their Chaplin (with Tori Paitan thickened broth, pork belly chashu, egg, scallions, bean sprouts, & black sesame paste $17). LIKE THAT!! Thick seasoned pork, a creamy peppery broth, tasty!! Their A.S.S.-Asian Sweet & Sour Maze (with chicken, lemongrass, coconut milk, cilantro, kimchi, wonton chip, & a boiled egg $17). STAMP!! Those sweet & sour sauces coupled with this creamy spicy broth, egg, & kimchi…WINNING!! Their Lemonade ($5.50). STAMP!! Refreshing, & palate cleansing!! . Customer Service: On Point . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Rough. . Recommendations: Their Asian Spicy Sour Maze, The Chaplin, Lemonade, & Wonton. Had a great Saturday brunch here. The place wasn't too packed. The food was delicious. We got Shumai and pan fried gyoza to start. My friend and I both got these frozen cocktails, that really hit the spot. I had the Mappo Tofu Ramen. I'm still thinking about it because it was so tasty. Server was very attentive and checked in regularly. Would definitely recommend.

"How beautiful it is to find someone who asks for nothing but your company." Found this quote today after feeling the sentiment. This weekend we stayed in DC for a convention. What can be said about dining out? No, eating at a restaurant is not solely about filling an empty stomach. Rather, going to a restaurant is about spending time with those you care for and making memories. Indeed, Chaplin's Restaurant is a great space to do just that. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine with a flair, then I recommend a meal at Chaplin's. The flavor profiles are well balanced and they even have allergy conscious noodles- the rice noodles were also cooked to perfection. In terms of dishes, the majority of our group had the Chaplin's A.s.s. [Yes, that's what it's called]. The dish has great spices without overwhelming heat. The ramen dishes are also accompanied by a variety of toppings- the stamina egg is an egg-cellent option! Back tracking onto appetizers, Chaplin has great gyōza. Whether steamed or fried, you can enjoy a quick bite. As for fillings, we've tried the vegetarian and pork. In the first, the dough is stuffed with a seasoned mushroom mix. Who said that vegetarian dishes are blasé ? The opposite is quite true with Chaplin's recipes. We did enjoy the pork filling as well! Now, onto the drinks. My first pick was "A Day's Pleasure." If an old fashioned is your go-to, then I highly recommend this drink. There's a pleasant pineapple and orange notes that give a refreshing taste for such a strong brew. Among the drinks ordered was a The Vagabond. This blend of cucumber and ginger provides an excellent refreshment. Another refreshing drink is the frozen Tokyo Tea - a great companion for Chaplin's A.s.s. The matcha flavor is an ideal way to cool the palate after eating spice. The Tokyo Tea is creamy without an overbearing sweetness. In regards to the video, "The Cure" was quite the finale to this incredible night. The added aromatic of the rosemary smoke was a delight - pure genius! "The Cure" is another refreshing, but elegant choice. Among the drinks is "A Woman of Paris." The blend is similar to "A Day's Pleasure." Instead of rye, the drink has a rich bourbon. Although there were many who enjoyed "The Vagabond" and "Tokyo Tea," I loved "A Day's Pleasure." Ultimately, the experience couldnt be as memorable without the help of Angelina and Noah. Both provided a sense of celebration and fun from the the table to the bar. Thank you Angelina for putting up with our table and Noah for your expertise in mixology! Overall, if you're in the need of a chill dining experience, come Chaplin's Restaurant!

One of the only places that serves food up until midnight, so if you're feeling up for some delicious ramen late at night, this is a great place to be. Recommend their regular Chaplin ramen which has a black sesame broth that is delicious or the Chaplin A.S.S., known for the Asian Spicy & Sour sauce. While they don't provide much meat, the broth is very delicious. They also have great happy hour deals from 4-7 and alcohol-infused dumplings. It also has a large outdoor dining area and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff.

Very interesting place with a interesting menu. Many Japanese styled dishes with a flavor twist. The only drawback was that the amount of people who goes there seems to outnumber the amount they can serve fast so drinks took very long to get from the bar.

We are visiting DC and wanted some Ramen so we asked a friend of us who lives here for suggestions and she suggested Chaplin's. The service was impeccable and our server was super friendly and helpful. The place inside looks a bit neglected but the all black atmosphere is nice, the bathrooms were very dirty unfortunately (but they have mouthwash if you need it). We ordered fried wontons and they were delicious, the best I've had so far and we had the Tan tan man ramen and the Chaplin. We've have bone marrow broth ramen in NY before and we're hoping that the Chaplin would resemble it but it didn't; I still enjoyed it but my husband liked the Tan tan man better that for me was very good but a bit too spicy (it was mild but I don't do spicy). Prices are in the average for ramen. They have happy hour until 7pm where pretty much every drink is half off. They also have upstairs seatings and outdoor patio on the sidewalk. Overall we enjoyed it and could go back but not the best ramen we've had.

Pretty tasty Ramen!!! Had the shoyu ramen & it was very good. I think $17 is a lil steep for ramen but they had 1/2 off on drinks 🥳

Delicious pho, dumplings, and mixed drinks. I'm not a fan of bloody Marys but there's completely changed my opinion. The best one I've ever had. I highly recommend Chaplin's for the great service, food, and drinks.

This is a dope Asian restaurant! The vibe is nice although it does get really loud so it makes conversations tough but aside from that it’s a cozy vibe. The cocktails here are great and their tan tan ramen is delicious! I also highly recommend their sweet potatoes wontons which is too good!

Tasty ramen and dumplings. Good, lively atmosphere but extremely crowded (pushing through bar patrons to get around the restaurant) and loud on a Saturday night. Whiskey-injected dumplings were a fun idea but were just ok flavor-wise.

Make sure to check out this little gem here in downtown dc. My favorite things on the menu as far as entrees are concerned are the following: fried wontons. Tori karaage. Shrimp gyoza. Pork ribs. Tokyo tea slush chaplin a.s.s. And desserts you may ask most definitely try the Caught in the caberet and ichigo parfait dessert. Street parking available. Make sure to make a reservation in advance as these tables fill up quick especially on a sunday. The service is fast from the time you put in the order. They also have this cute king and queen table on the second floor which is a cute spot to dine in. The view is worth it though. Total bill for drinks. Dessert and food including ramen was $108 for party of two. Leslie and sam were very professional and knowledgeable about the menu.
