I was excited to try the Senate Bean Soup and while there was a ton of other good looking options, nothing would deter me. The soup was filling and satisfying, although not quite as tasty as it could've been.
I made a small salad from the salad bar - there was a dude ahead of me that didn't seem to be aware I was waiting to serve myself behind him, that is until I was ready to go around him to serve myself some dressing, when he promptly blocked my way. What can you do, right?
The salad itself was so fresh and delicious it just needed a touch of dressing anyway. I also had to get the Capitol Building dessert. It was pretty bland, but absolutely gorgeous!
I enjoyed all of the different food stations and there was a large variety. The seating is nice, it's a large space. Food is expensive, but there is no tax since it is a federal building.
Its good for what it is - without the vouchers the food would have been very expensive.
Tried capital cake. Berries with whip cream bed in white chocolate capital bowl. $8.95.
Impressively large self-serve cafeteria with good variety of food and snacks, located inside the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. We stopped here for a snack after our tour of the Capitol. Everything was very clean and service was friendly. Lots of places to sit.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at this cafe. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of green beans for $12. The chicken was so flavorful, I wish I hadn’t taken the optional barbecue sauce—it didn’t need it. The green beans were cooked perfectly—firm, but not too crunchy. Even the side of fruit I got was delicious. My husband got the chicken leg and said it was delicious as well. Much better than the touristy foods around DC.
Loved by both sides of the aisle! You can’t go wrong with the selections here fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. But OUT OF MANY, ONE desert reigns supreme — capitol dome cake!
The staff at the Capitol are helpful fun and funny. They work hard to help our group get through rapidly and effectively. There are jokes being tossed around. Very helpful.
Large selection of different types of food. Anyone in your group will be able to get something to eat. The food was OK. It was not amazing. It’s a very convenient place to stop. The prices are a bit high but for the convenience it’s probably worth it.
Decent food. I guess we were hungry enough to enjoy cafeteria food. Definitely better food than most of the tourist places. It wasn’t crowded and prices were reasonable.
Unique place, definitely worth the visit.
The food is prepared fresh on site.
I did enjoy my breakfast sausage and egg muffin.
After an amazing visit to the Capitol, the café offers food and sweet treats to refuel the body and keep going around the nation's capital.
Like kind of buffet. Assume this is the best place to take a break for a meal or the snack after a visit to US capitol. I had beef steak and my daughters had Indian dishes.
A bit pricy however much better than the foods from vendor Vans.
Staff is always cleaning the tables
Like any other eatery. EXCEPT the awesome desert capitol themed treats. CMON ...they look so good. And taste good as well.
There are lots of great options for the carnivores and for the leaf eaters. I think the quality is much better than normal. It could be because any given day high end people eat there.
We needed some gluten free food options and asked about it. The cafe manager, Justin, (I think that was his name) answered our questions and was so helpful. He was just as personable and informational as any capital tour guide! My daughter was able to eat several items and we walked away feeling good about what we had eaten and what our options were.
