Hidden gem in DC!!!
We had a wonderful time at Sababa! Thanks to our attentive waitress, who patiently guided us through the menu. She even knew a little bit of French 🙂 The food was traditional with a modern twist. The quality of the food served was incredible. It was just delightful. The presentation was sophisticated. I highly recommend this place.
What a wonderful find! I can’t wait to go back. Beautiful restaurant. We sat on the rooftop dining. Service and food were both amazing! One of my favorite cocktails I’ve ever had!
Got the opportunity to have brunch on the patio on a gorgeous Sunday. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the people are so friendly and the food.... One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We got the smoked trout and Israeli salad to start, both fresh and flavorful. For mains we had chicken kabob and salmon Benedict on a potato latke. I am a Benedict fiend but very particular. This was such a great take on the Benedict! The chicken kabob was also delicious, especially with the harissa sauce. Ended up adding some hummus and pita- the pita came out still smoking from the oven. Even the French press coffee was divine. Love everything about this place.
Deliciously authentic Israeli cuisine served with warmth and hospitality. The sweet corn falafel was very crisp, the hummus creamy, and the eggplant charred to perfection. A must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of Israel in the heart of DC.
The charred eggplant was the best and most unique dish! And the salatim were very delicious--especially the brussel sprout baba ganoush--along with the other dishes we had (Jerusalem mix, salmon kebab, chummus, and cauliflower.
Got myself a nice 3-course dinner to go to celebrate a recent win. I ordered the salatim (dip trio), roast chicken with fennel and oranges, and the konafi cake, a subtle and perfectly sweetened dessert involving apricot curd and pistachios. It was all so delicious, and traveled well! I'm still working through the leftover dip two days later!
Modern Israeli. Atmosphere is very nice with dim lights and lots of wood carved panels on the wall. The hummus special with the harissa sauce had a nice spicy flavor. The Israeli salad was very fresh and had a night light marinate. The freshly backed pita bread was amazing and I loved the chicken kabob. The chicken was moist but with a nice char.
What an amazing experience we had in this restaurant.
We stayed in the lounge drinks area and
the staff was very nice, the place has a very comfortable atmosphere and the food is excellent!
We had the hummus with the pita bread, grilled broccoli, egg & shug butter and also the dessert it was the konafi cake, everything was Great!
For sure, I ordered a cappuccino and also it was very good, besides that vegan food makes all the difference for me and they have plenty!
We certainly want to back soon!

Great Middle Eastern food. Good service and a nice atmosphere. Can't wait until the wine bar opens in September.
Great vibe, amazing service, and most importantly delicious food. Best hummus in town.
Absolutely recommend for brunch. We had the unlimited champagne, hummus, cauliflower, falafel and kofta. All were delicious and we were full but ordered dessert which was also really good. Definitely surpassed my expectations
I know that all of the workers (Host, Waitress, Cookers, Bartender) are exceptional workers that are working hard and bring the best customer service I have ever seen! They bring the best things to the table and make the customers feel special. A shout-out to them for their excellent work! The aroma is very relaxing inside the restaurant. It is easy to see why the restaurant is Mediterranean. The wood designs, flooring, and the lights set the ambiance in a unexplainable way. And don't get me started on the food. The food is exceptional and is served perfectly. As a person who has OCD I expect my food to be perfect in a plate. And Sababa didn't dissapoint me. The Kebabs are the most popular and it's easy to see why. The cakes are small, delicious and satisfying. It is focused on Mediterranean food so for those who love to try different types of food will enjoy eating at Sababa. But don't take word for it, try Sababa now and you won't regret it!
The food and team at Sababa is amazing! We hosted our wedding reception on the top floor and outside patio of the restaurant and it was fantastic. George, Sara and team set up the venue beautifully and were able to accommodate all of our requests. The food and wine were delicious, especially the eggplant, halloumi and salmon dishes. The service was excellent, everyone made us feel very celebrated. We appreciate it!
Fantastic experience. Food was just stellar. Each dish was thoughtful, delicious, and left you wishing it never ended. We still talk about it months later as if we were just there. Cannot wait to come back.
Our server was Cody and treated us to a great dinner with fantastic recommendations. All the supporting staff was very professional and attentive during our dinner. Do note that food comes out as it is prepared, so be ready to eat when ever. Highlights were the trout crudo appetizer, all the large plates and pretty much all of the desserts. Would most certainly come back to try what's left of the menu that our group didn't order!
I would like to address this review to Ashok as I had worked for him at 701 in the 90’s. Congratulations on adding another wonderful, delicious, innovative restaurant to the city. We were truly impressed and enjoyed our food immensely!!!
We came as a party of 5 at 7:30 to celebrate a birthday. I informed the hostess who it was too. After being escorted to the table I realized that we were not going to be comfortable as we were planning to order plenty food to share. We were shown another table that was smaller despite the fact that there were 2 empty tables beside us that could have been combined. (FYI 1 remained empty all night) We were not happy but we wanted to enjoy the evening.
The waiter KC or KZ was so impressive that I was like wow!! Good job Ashok. Standards have not gone down but his 10 went down the drain very fast. He barely came to check how our food was. We had to serve our own wine but that was ok too because when they were pouring it felt like let’s finish this bottle so they’ll order another one. Plate after plate was brought to our table that was filled with 5 glasses of wine and water and even the bottle itself at some point till they figured there is a standing wine bucket beside us. The busboy also brought out a plate and when we asked what it was he had no idea. I also whispered to our waiter you know we have a birthday right? He said no but now he knows. How could that be when I informed the hostess and the lady Jess who opened the wine for us greeted our birthday celebrant?
I kept on waiting for what’s next till a dessert came with 1 spoon for the birthday song. I asked our waiter dessert menu? He said kitchen is closed. I said why did u not offer us dessert before it closed? Because you were eating. (He had also informed us before we ordered our main courses that kitchen was closing) Ok. Just bring us some spoons so we can share this single dessert. He brought tablespoons ?????? Now I am truly upset. Then he comes back and says oh, there is still someone to make you dessert. But we no longer want it. Also when our table was being cleaned, I asked to pack the pita. There were 6pcs and the guy just dropped the bowl back to the table, just like that. With a bang!!!
Jess asked how we were and I said I’ll just write a review and she wanted to know what’s wrong. I told her and she offered drinks. Is that enough to compensate for the experience? Not really. We can afford to buy our own drinks. But thank you for offering.
First time i visited this restaurant. I have to say the decoration and style of the place makes the visit feel very private. I sat at the bar, the spot is very private, so that your are not directly facing the opposite side of the bar. The dishes are very tasty, everything we tried we loved.
