This is an authentic first class Indian cousin located at 14 & U, NW of Washington DC. We were party of 9 when we decided to go there & have dinner. We were so delighted with the aroma & taste which took us on a journey back home. For example prawn kabob, lal goasht & lamb Karahi are so tender that it would melt in your mouth. It’s just hard for me to describe the chatni & appetizers we had before dinner. I have not had it for ages (30+ years). Same evening, we had the honor of meeting the kind harted gentleman named Mr. Vipal, the owner of the Pappe. I have found a place to eat forever. I will say thank you to Mr. Vipal for making our evening so memeoriable.

Pappe is the best thing to happen to Logan Circle in years! The decor is gorgeous yet welcoming and the food is amazing. I love that you can get side portions of dishes that most restaurants serve only as entrees. More opportunity to try a little of everything! I had the samosas (and still think of them and the lovely dipping sauces daily ), the vegetable korma, and both dals. Absolute perfection. The best Indian fare I've ever had and at reasonable prices. The staff is super friendly to boot. I'm so excited for this great new place and can't wait to go back again and again.

Tried out Pappe during the soft opening. Loved the decor. We went as a larger group and were able to taste a lot of different dishes. The first thing I tasted was the samosas and expected it to be as typical as any other restaurant. One bite and I was pleasantly surprised - it was crispy and spicy, like it should be. Other favorites were the chicken vindaloo (very spicy), the lamb chops, yellow dal fry, the red snapper, and channa pindi. My son really liked the Masala duck roast. I think I found my new favorite Indian restaurant!!

Yum! Authentic Indian food- great flavor, fresh. We love Indian food so we were excited to see this place open on 14th street- the Vindaloo is phenomenal, if you try one thing get it! Nice location and nice vibe.

The vindaloo was as hot as the space itself; loved it. Also must haves are the Samosas and tandoori salmon...finally a spot for authentic Indian in a chic setting in DC

Super flavorful dishes prepared authentically. Go with a group and order as much of the menu as you can. Tandoori is great but don’t miss the dal and butter chicken which are anything but cliche!

Amazing. We went during their soft opening and were blown away. My husband, who is an absolute Rasika devotee, even admitted that Pappe was better. We loved it. Favorite dishes tonight: everything, but the Malai Kofta was the standout. Delicious. So excited it’s a block away!

Really yummy Indian food. We were a party of six, food and service was top notch. I got the butter chicken and was really good. Creamy and very flavorful. Definitely recommend this place. Cheers to the chefs, management & servers!

Spicy chicken tikka and Chicken pista korma were exceptional. Dal Makhani was good. But the garlic naan had uncooked garlic slices. I mean I am not a chef but pretty sure we should at least cook them as its called ‘garlic naan’. Beers were not chilled but a little cool.

Small and cute place to have a meal with a few friends. The dishes are packed with flavor and made well, shown in the representation for the soul food feel of this cuisine. The seasonal cooking adds to the changing flavors of this excellent menu selection. I think the portions are perfect so that you aren’t stuffed after a full meal. (Spicy Chicken Tikka and a garlic naan are highly recommended and pictured)

The best lamb biryani I’ve ever had. I tried Lamb biryani in different countries (Dubai, UAE, Istanbul,Turkey.etc.) but this Pappe DC proved me that they had the best.. Kudos to the chef.. i will definitely come back when i go to DC.

The ambiance is very nice ! Thali’s are very nice , good way to taste multiple Indian dishes. Garlic naan was very good. Lamb kabab and Crab pav are good. Space in the booth for 4people is tight and service could improve.

Outstanding food and staff! Every time I have come here I have felt welcome and satiated. The warm atmosphere and impeccable service is truly unrivaled. The food comes out with all the authenticity and comfort I look for in Indian cuisine. Hats off to the chef, cooks, servers, bartenders, and managers that all contribute to orchestrating this symphony of Indian cuisine. P.S. Get the cocktails, they are truly wonderful!

This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in this year. The drinks were excellent and beautifully presented. The food was fragrant, perfectly portioned and beautifully presented. The restaurant, itself is magical. The decor is exquisite and yet comfortable. But the best thing about Pappe is the staff. They all constantly helped each other without anyone of them ever having to ask for help. They worked seamlessly together like a family that authenticly likes and respect each other. It's such a rare thing to see in a restaurant. And the happiness and cogeniallity of the staff create an atmosphere of warmth that made everything even more enjoyable. I am so impressed.

The naan was unbelievable!! Both types we got were super yummy. Everything was good. I wasn’t a big fan of the mango mojito but everyone else loved it.

We went here with a family of six, did reservation upfront. The atmosphere is nice with Indian music in the background. The food here taste really good but the quantity is less for the price (expect $50 - $80 pp). We ordered Dahi puri (recommended), aloo tikki chaat (recommended), samosa chaat (recommended), Malai chicken tikka (taste is good but you get 3 small pieces for $15.99), bhindi do pyaza (recommended), garlic daal fry (average), laal maas (recommended), garlic naan (recommended). The deserts and drinks were also amazing.

{I am not Indian-American} I have been eating at/from Pappe for a few years; I find that the food is generally wonderful and well-flavored; once in a while a dish can be a little off. I love the ambiance and unique decor. The service is friendly and attentive (sometimes it's a little too attentive and interruptive though). I'll always recommend Pappe to anyone, anytime!

Food was good, little pricey compared to portion size but with everything being expensive it’s okay. Good ambience. Update; We ordered one entree and one side dish with breads.

Really delicious (if pricey) Indian Food! The first time I came here was during COVID, and that was only for takeout, so this has been on my list for a while to come back to. We ordered paneer and lamb kabobs that were wrapped in a naan bread which were basically like Indian tacos, and they were really good. The paneer also had mango powder, but I really couldn't taste it, it sorta just tasted like the lamb kabob lol. It could be the green sauce which were on both that overpowered that flavor. For entrees we ordered the Taar Gosht and the Butter Chicken. The butter chicken had a really nice complex flavor with a really sweet tomato profile. The Taar Gosht, had nice flavor as well, but nothing super noteworthy from me. We also ordered the breadbasket of naan. We got the chili naan which was just naan with chilis on it, the garlic naan and the roti naan. They were just okay. I didn't really taste any difference between the 3 to be honest. Very nice spot overall.

I would call this place 'upscale Indian date night restaurant or people who like curry flavors but can't handle the spice' - perfect location in the heart of 14th street really, they really nailed that demographic. Drinks are a highlight, food is good, ambiance is top notch, and the place is very busy and very lively. We managed to walk in and snag a place at the bar, but that was very much so luck of the draw. I'm sure if you want authentic super spicy curry there are probably lots of dives in the city that would better suit, but if you want a place with solid, flavorful indian food in an upscale but casual location that isn't as overwhelming as a Rasika this is a good choice.

Undoubtedly the best Indian food in the DC area. Its freshness, consistency, and variety of taste, spice, and texture make Pappe a unique experience every time. My favorite is the Sea Bass Curry and the Fried Fish and Scallops. The bartenders are remarkable in the attentiveness and the drink menu is next to none. If you haven’t been to Pappe, you’re really missing out.

Man we loved the level this Indian food achieves. It was super special with its 🌶 🫑 🌶 and sauces were abundant to soak up more rice before I almost licked the plate.

This app seriously needs a 1/2 star option. As it was better than 4 star but not 5. Butter chicken was on point. Almost too much meat to sauce ratio as I ordered the garlic Naan to lap up the butter chicken sauce. Spice and flavor wise it's a solid dish. The mango lassee was solid as well. For desert went with the cream brule option and it was 3.5ish. They prepare it with their own twist and maybe that's why it's 3.5 to my pallette. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great and for the empty calories I want some great dessert. But give it a try and let me know what you think.
