Do the easy things right, and the rest will come. Had this place recommended to me by some friends and ended up in the neighborhood so I had to try it for myself. Menu was so large, I had decision paralysis so I just went with what I heard was good. That ended up being two pork pupusas and a chicken tamale. Which only ended up being about $9 plus the beer I ordered to compensate for the hot summer evening. It was a ton of food for only a few bucks. Salsa was decent but not the best I’ve had in DC. Pupusas were savory and fresh. Tamale was sneaky good and super filling. Doesn’t hurt to speak some Spanish here. Mine was really rusty but seemed pretty well received as I can be nervous to use it around town.

I checked this place out this past weekend for the first time. I had the trio tacos. They were amazing. The drinks were strong. The servers took care of us before we could even get comfortable. Im going back first chance i get.

Another neighborhood staple of Barracks Row for years. Their food hasn't changed over the years. It's consistently a good choice for your fix. The cozy atmosphere and good service and pretty good drink specials draw people in from all over. Give them a try. The portions are pretty large too.

This was a quick trip from the office for lunch... the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious! I ordered the shrimp, chicken and steak tacos. It came with one of each, the shrimp were juicy and the steak was tasty... the chicken was a bit dry... once we put the sour cream, guacamole, and the lime crema inside, it was better. We had 2 jarittos each and our lunch was under $50. I would definitely return.

The BEST restaurant experience we’ve had in a while. The food is amazing. The service was on point. And for the price ?? We couldn’t believe the find we made in this place! Wouldn’t be surprised if they need a bigger space soon. Food Network should visit this spot. It’s legit. The papusas are muy muy rico. Sooo good! The plantains, the rice, beans , the tamales, wow. And the margaritas!!! They were really good. Their happy hour is 3-6 every day! Great price for the margaritas and they were made well. The service was exceptional. Very attentive and kind. Felt like we were visiting a family’s restaurant. It’s small and tight inside but they can fit a surprising amount of people by smart table arranging and even though you may be seated fairly close to another table the food and service was so good I didn’t mind that small issue one bit. This is a gem. Comida de El Salvador and your traditional Latin American dishes. Looks like in warmer weather they have a really cute outdoor eating space with lights. Can’t wait to go back here next time! Gracias todo at Las Placitas for a great time!

sizzling fajitas well seasoned and tender. the house margarita hits hard. The popusas are great appetizer. I'm from Texas and this food competes very well with tex mex food. the guac is awesome. Highly recommend the food and drinks. will try to other margaritas. Service is fast and very attentive. Highly recommend.

I went to Las Placitas during a food tour. This is one of the oldest restaurants of eighth Street. They is such a homey vibe you feel as soon as you walk in. They’re margaritas are awesome. Well there, I recognized there were 3 to 4 other large groups there. It looks as though they host a lot of parties. The plantain, steak, quesadilla, yuca platter was awesome. The food to a little while to come out but it was worth the wait.

What a wonderful find! I was walking back from a hike and found this place. Super nice service and delicious food! I ordered chicken nachos and queso. Both excellent and I would order again. Also came with chips and salsa. The chips are those yummy thick chips and the salsa fresh. Got my food togo but they have a cute indoor/outdoor space with frozen margaritas and $1 can cokes. Prices very reasonable. Will be back!!

Food was exceptional. Great portions. Did not skimp. Quality ingredients. Unfortunately missed an entree for our delivery so s service start deduction for that, but they were patient with my irate sister and eventually we got the matter taken care of.

The food here was good. I was very happy with my portion size. The service was pretty good. They have outdoor seating so on a nice day sitting out side is a must. I'd say the food and ambience here felt very authentic. The price point isn't too bad either. You get complimentary chips and dip as well.

Dropped in here for a quick lunch and was met with a friendly server and great prices. The food was just what we expected and satisfied the entire family. Outdoor seating was plentiful. It isn't the fanciest place around, but looks are deceiving. I plan on dropping in for lunch again.

This restaurant has been taking care of us since my 33 yr old daughter was a few months old. Don't expect perfect service, think people and family. You will have wonderful food, best margaritas in town and sometimes a waiter or waitress can be a bit pokey. Just flag them down or another server, they work together, work with them and they will take good care of you. I will never forget how they always brought my daughter's favorite, black beans and rice, double serving, within seconds of sitting down, until the day she shocked us all and said "no thank you, I'll have the puerco al horno". Great people, great food!
