Walked by while going to the zoo while on vacation. Stop in for a bite to eat on a whim. It was the best meal we had during our entire stay in DC! Wish you had a location here in Pittsburgh! Will definitely make a point to stop in there on our next trip.

Great barbecue place. Best I've been to so far. For appetizers we got the wings and the ABTs (a twist on jalapeño poppers) and the ABTS were amazing, the wings were great but the ABTs were definitely unique and a must get. The burnt ends grilled cheese is a must as well. We also ordered the pulled chicken, grits, mashed potatoes, waffle fries, and mac and cheese and they were all delicious. We then got the banana pudding and we were deciding between that and the chocolate peanut butter pie (because chocolate peanut butter anything and I'm sold) but the banana pudding was THAT good. It was the best I've had hand down. If you haven't gone here you should. I wish we weren't just visiting the area and we had one near us in Florida.

Easily the best BBQ in DC. I have been to this place numerous amounts of times trying something different each time. My all time favorite if the Belly Buster as it has the best of all worlds and can be shared. One of my favorite things about Petes is the brisket and the homemade sauces. Its a tough battle because on the one hand you enjoy the taste of the meat and on the other most of the sauces are soooo amazing; hard to make up ur mind lls.

I stopped in with my wife and friends for happy hour, we had the waffle fries and sliders (pulled pork, brisket, and smoke turkey). The food was great and the atmosphere was excellent! I will definitely come back again!

We've loved Cleveland Park Bar & Grill for years, and were so excited to hear that the owners were opening Fat Pete's. We went last night and it didn't disappoint! The brisket was amazing, as were the ribs, fried green tomatoes, and ABT's (appropriately described on the menu as "BBQ crack"). The corn bread was maybe the best we've ever had, including in Austin and Nashville. All of the homemade sauces were fantastic, especially the Alabama White and the Carolina Mustard. Can't wait to make it through the rest of the menu and the awesome beer list! Looking forward to our next meal and to hearing some live music. We'll definitely be back soon. Great job Jeff and team!

Service was friendly and prompt. The brisket was out of this world. Some of the best BBQ I've had, ranks up there with joints in BBQ towns like Memphis or St Louis

Had lunch without five kids and brother after a trip to the zoo. It was amazing—great and friendly service and such delicious food! Food Highlights were the pork belly and the collard greens. The bartender also put Bluey on the tv for our kids!

I Loved this place. The platters are a decent price, the draught beers and mixdd drinks are on point. The service was outstanding and friendly. The owner treated everybody as if they were family or good friends. If you live in DC, make this a regular spot. If you come to visit and you want some good Bbq, definitely stop by. I did twice during my 3 days in DC.

Brisket sandwich was authentic Texas BBQ, tender and well rubbed with spices. Hot BBQ sauce was good. Sides of fries and hush puppies were good. Service and atmosphere was good and exactly what you would want from an East Coast Texas BBQ joint.

For DC this is four star Texas style bbq. Anywhere else three stars. The meat has flavor which is good, the problem is the way it is cooked and what is served. The person who packed our order really messed things up too. The bbq sauce caps were not put on and it soaked the bag and made a mess. They also did not include the baked beans, but that’s ok sometimes you forget food. The real issue is the actual food. The pork belly bites were just fat, no actual meat or bacon. We threw them out after trying them because there was literally just fat. The burnt ends had flavor but were so burnt they could barely be cut with our steak knives. I chopped them with a butcher knife. I’m guessing they overbooked everything yesterday because the brisket was also over done and had zero smoke ring. It was moist but very over cooked. If it was done properly it would have been melt in your mouth delicious. It was likely a very off day. The corn bread was perfection and the pulled pork was as expected. DC does not have good bbq, so if you’re craving Texas style bbq, Fat Pete’s is your best bet and to be honest, you won’t be disappointed. Once they figure out temperatures and when meat is done, they’re going to be amazing. The seasoning and flavor are there, it’s not learning meats, what to serve vs discard and when to stop cooking it. Ohh the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers were perfect. I loved them!!! Nicely done.

I had a bulk order of 40 platters and everything came out perfect. They went above and beyond and packaged them individually as I was delivering to several families for Thanksgiving. PJ even helped me carry the orders to my car! excellent customer service.

First time here, left with an overall good impression. Good food and attentive staffs. I do recommend the double smoked pork belly bites, a good appetizer to prepare your palate for what’s to come. I got half rack of the baby back ribs, it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty good. The meat was tender and almost falling off the bone. And their potato salad was good too.

Fat Pete is a whisky encyclopedia. Seriously you come here for the BBQ (which is itself pretty good especially for DC) but you stay for this man's sage-like knowledge of all things whisky, bourbon, scotch, blends, etc. We had so much fun getting Pete's recommendations, trying samples, and just indulging in the love of whisky. Oh yea and of course he serves up a pretty good BBQ as well. Will absolutely be coming again soon!

Very subtle place. Clean design and easy access, near the national zoo. Food is solid for a bbq place. For me I had the brisket melt sandwich with a side of hush puppies and a house salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The brisket was soft and tender, being a southerner, it was missing some more flavoring for my taste...added a bit of the vinaigrette and it had a nice bite. The house salad was simple and good and the dressing was just right and not to glaring. The hush puppy was not my favorite as it was dense and a bit bland for me. Overall good experience.

Atmosphere and Ambiance is neat, comfortable and has the typical american bar style. The restaurant appears super clean. Servers are pleasant and communicative. And most importantly the food is nicely presented, taste was great, all to a good price point. I can highly recommend the 3 meat platter. The pulled pork and the baby back ribs are delicious!

Very nice place for BBQ 🍗🍖. A bit dark for me during rhe day. A full wall of TVs ( baseball, indy car , English’s premiere league) on the walls. Wide range of beers and even choice for wines 🍷. Waiter pleasant and checking everythig was ok. Parking not so easy 🅿️. Need to say i do not know well the neighborhood.
