The restaurant is a great place for dinner before a show. Start at the millennium stage, go to dinner, then take the elevator to your show. Park once and forget it. The food was very very good with extremely efficient but not rushed service. If you are running late the wait staff will get you in and out. Reservations are a must. The view is outstanding with the skyline of Rosslyn or the monuments.

Simply wonderful. Couldn't have picked a better place to spend me and my wife's one year anniversary. Great atmosphere, beautiful views, and amazing food. Super convenient for nights when you are seeing a play or musical. The chilled lobster and lobster mac and cheese were wonderful. Also, the combo of the chocolate mousse dessert with a cappuccino was delicious.

Thoroughly enjoyed brunch before a show at the Roof Terrace restaurant of the Kennedy Center. Excellent service, good Bloody Mary's, a sophisticated yet simple menu. Highly recommend.

My wife and I recently enjoyed dinner at The Roof Terrace Restaurant. I enjoyed the crab salad and Delmonico steak which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My wife had the seafood risotto which was wonderfully flavorful and had plenty of seafood. The service was top notch - very professional, and the ambiance is classic elegance. If I had to find something to complain about, it’d be the limited menu. A couple lighter entrees would be a welcome addition, but that’s just a bit. In all, The Roof Terrace Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal before a show.

Great ease to dine at the Kennedy center before the performance. My husband loved his filet. The potatoes are pureed not mashed The Brussel sprouts are well prepared and abundant ! It is not the river view dining perch we expected. But you know the river us out there beyond the glass.

This restaurant is pricey but it was WORTH THE PRICE! I ordered Kale & Romaine Cesear salad, Prime Ribeye Delmonico with Red Wine Demi sauce, Shrimp and Grilled Asparagus. This was the Best Steak I have ever had, I ate the whole thing with my daughter. They do not have a kids menu but my girl loves her some steak & shrimp like her mama. My grandmother ordered the Chopped Salad, Colorado double cut Lamb chops and Broccolini, the salad & L.chops she loved, but the Broccolini was tough. & My aunt enjoyed the soup they had that night, and the Jail Island Salmon and Asparagus. I wish I took pics of our food but it was Amazing. We ate while watched al planes and then a Thunderstorm, followed by a Full Rainbow by dessert. And then we went to enjoy THE LION KING MUSICAL. A Wonderful evening we had.

We come here when we see a show at the Kennedy center b/c it’s convenient. I’m vegan and this restaurant is not known for its vegan friendly menu. In fact the one item that WAS on the menu was removed when we got there. So beer and bread for dinner? 😃 Alex was our waiter and he gets five stars for his kindness, helpfulness, and friendliness. He understood my situation and coordinated an excellent vegan meal for me with the chef and menu we were stuck with. He changed my perception of roof terrace restaurant and I hope the next time we dine there he will still be there on request.

My husband and I visited the Kennedy Center last night to tour the new JFK exhibit, dine at the Roof Terrace and watched Wicked. We had an amazing time. The new exhibit is a great way to immerse yourself in all the aspects surrounding the creation of the National Cultural Center and the role the Kennedys played to make it a reality, which of course, contributed to the re-designation as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Roof Terrace is a very nice restaurant with the most friendly staff and an amazing view of the DC and Virginia skylines. The only downside is the food is overpriced, in my opinion, for what you receive. The steak I ordered was really good and the lobster mac and cheese definitely did not skimp on the lobster. The rest of our meal was good, but not at a level commensurate with the price. You are definitely paying for the location; so just understand that going in. I would like to re-state the staff were all very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. There is a full bar, beer, and wine available. The selection was a little small, but diverse. One other tip, reservations are pretty much a must. I made a reservation as soon as I purchased tickets for a show, so it was months in advance and I did not have any issues with availablility. I have tried to make a reservation a week out before and it was booked solid; so just somethingto considerin advance of your visit. Thank you again for another great evening enjoying the arts in our nation's capital.

This was our first time dinning at the Roof Terrace before attending a show downstairs and I would have to say we really enjoyed our visit. This is the perfect place for a nice romantic dinner date the ambiance and views are absolutely amazing and the foods not bad either🤣🤣🤣 Although it was a little pricey it was still worth the price of admission. I was told that their Sunday brunch is amazing and I can’t wait to experience that next. So once again if your looking to enjoy a nice dinner and a show at The Kennedy Center the Roof Terrace is the spot!!

I went to the restaurant prior to watching a show at Kennedy Center. ⭐️⭐️ The hostesses were chatting around when I get there around 5:15PM. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After being seated, the waiter who served us was wonderful. 👍👍 He is very thoughtful and solicitous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The setting of the restaurant was graceful. However, I could not see Potomac River through the floor-to-ceiling windows because of the wide patio outside which blocked my vision. The view was still beautiful for sure. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ All food was well prepared. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Crab soup: soooo delicious! It was a little bit salty for me. But should be perfect for majority of people. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pecorino & Truffle Pommes Fries: they were served hot! So they really tasted soooo wonderful! I I love the crunchy exterior and a light, fluffy interior. In addition, the dip was amazingly good! I’d like to give it 6 starts if I can. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sixty South Salmon: it was pretty good. The texture tasted so tender and juicy, but a little fishy. Otherwise, it would be perfect and rated with 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Maryland Rockfish: similar to the salmon mentioned above. Tasted very good. But not impressive. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Champagne twist: felt really good at the first sip! Crisp and refreshing with a bit lemon flavor. It was a bit sweet and sour and bitter at the end. I like it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Toast to Freedom: it was good for sure. But not amazingly good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The coffee and tea were OK.

A solid experience one would expect from a prestigious venue like The Kennedy Center. Tremendous ambiance and service. The views from up there are spectacular and enrich the experience of an evening outing. The food was delicious, but not really stand out exceptional. Overall with everything considered, an incredible place that's perfect for a date night.

Going to give an honest review. The Good: The atmosphere and the service at this place are fantastic. They have a great drink and dessert selection as well! And it’s super convenient to eat here before a show. The place is nicely renovated and has great views. The staff is beyond amazing. Super friendly and professional. Now to the disappointing part: For the prices, ambiance, service, and setting, you’d anticipate a great meal. All the options sounded delicious too. However, this may have been some of the most disappointing food I’ve ever had. While I may have some higher standards for food, I can eat mostly anything. I couldn’t even finish the crab cakes there. The crab was terrible quality and had lots of shells in it. The flavor was disgusting. The potatoes were dripping in oil too. The salads, while a decent size, were very basic. But if it wasn’t for the salad and the free bread, I probably would have gone hungry that night. Should have tried a steak but we saw someone order it and it was tiny and bland and came with nothing. Very disappointing. I went in expecting 3-4 star food for 5 star prices for the convenience, location, and ambiance. I would have been happy with that. But it did not deliver. Next time I’ll just order pasta there and give that a try. Or eat in nearby Georgetown beforehand

I have never been to the Kennedy Center and had no idea that there even was a restaurant. What a very nice dining experience. Santo our waiter was very knowledgeable with the food and drinks. It is a bit pricey but worth it. Even if you are not going to an event I highly recommend checking it out.

RTR is a pretty good place for dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. The restaurant has the classic aesthetic of the Kennedy Center with beautiful views from the terrace outside the restaurant. The staff were friendly enough though our waiter didn't talk with us too much. Food service was quick which is to be expected for those going to performances. The quality of the food is okay. All of our entrees were hot but just okay taste wise. Pretty good selection for vegetarians and the fish choices are nice too! We'll come back and try it again as we go to the KC often.

Loved the atmosphere and ambiance of the Roof Terrace. Loved the general feel of the place. It was comfortable and service was impeccable. Recommend the salmon and crab cakes. The Tempranillo was delicious! And of course, if you can, get a table with a view.....very nice!
