This is my newest favorite breakfast spot! The food is always fresh and delicious! The service is great!
I'm so happy we found this place! We were nearby and decided to find breakfast. When we walked in, we were greeted by 2 women and seated immediately. Our server was at the table to take our drink orders right away. The drinks were great - I had the Busboys Sangria. For brunch, I ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. This was soooo good! I cleaned my plate and can't wait to go back.
One of the best restaurant experiences in DC!! The atmosphere is great, the staff is wonderful, and the food is excellent!!! My colleague and I have come here over the three weeks we've been here and th experience has been great every time!!
Had a great time here for Saturday brunch. Menu has a lot of options at a good price, their lattes were also really good. Service could be a little better, we waited an extended amount of time for our food, but the manager quickly resolved the issue!
Great place and ideal for hanging out with others. A lot of space, tasty food and drinks, quiet space and free wifi!
Really enjoyed the food at this Busboys and Poets location. My friend and I had the shrimp and grits, the lamb burger and for dessert, chocolate cake. The food was made with fresh ingredients, seasoned well and tasted great. The wait staff were attentive and helpful. The restaurant was busy at the time we visited but we did not wait long to be seated or served. We ate indoors but there is Lots of outdoor seating as well.
I come here to get black authored books and for the entertainment, though they also serve amazing food. Check their website for their Karaoke nights and other fun events you’ll be happy to participate in. Parking can be hard to find on busy days so it might be easier to ride-share or use public transport if it’s possible. Don’t forget to support in any way you can - these folks have been the heartbeat of black art and food for years.
This place was truly awesome. We felt comfortable during COVID and the waiter kindly reminded us to keep our masks on unless we were sitting at our table. The service was kind and friendly, the bathrooms were clean, and the food was really good. Especially the lamb sliders, truly amazing! My kids also loved their food. The coffee was unique and delicious as well. Definitely recommend in every level!
Went here with a party of seven after a funeral. Everyone loved their food and there was something for everyone ( even the vegans and vegetarians were given many choices) the service was great and if we lived closer we would definitely visit more often. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food that we received.
A beautiful day ( May 13), walked to the restaurant, sat outside, watched people, buses, grads, and animals! Ordered the Quinoa Kaleb Fresh Salad, water with lime, and it was so delicious! Staff was super! Full belly! Loved it!
This is honestly one of the best busboys and poets locations I’ve been too. Very clean, all of the staff is super attentive and the manager is hands on and not just sitting in the back.
I love it here and will definitely be back. Y’all should try the vegan nachos & the famous Dc tap water drink. Top tier honestly
Poet Inspired Dining. 3 simple words express this modern take on art and food. On this day I had Brunch but Lunch and Dinner options are where this place shines. They have several gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. DC inspired cocktails may also be found in the menu. It appeared to me that the Servers are a bit overworked due to understaffing issues most likely caused by the pandemic. Don't let that stop you from giving this place a try. Parking isn't too hard to find as there is a public underground garage attached to the building.
I've been to all the Busboys and Poets in the DC area... and I've occasionally been disappointed in the quality of the food, but this Busboys pays attention to detail in the kitchen. I was impressed with the service as well. Lots of diverse menu options, and very accommodating for vegan and vegetarian diets. Will return.
Everything was good, just a little bit to much filling in the crab cakes, our server was pleasant
Visited on a Friday lunchtime. I had planned our day to include lunch here, having previously been to the K street branch. It was quiet and service was quick and friendly.
I had the vegan 'chicken' burger which was great, I would gladly have brought home a jar of the pickles that it came with! My husband had pancakes and a side of home fries, also delicious. Portions were a good size without being too much.
Lots more space than the K street branch and maybe the vibe suffered a bit for that but food and service were great.
Nice Place! Its right by the Brookland Metro Station on the redline. Pretty affordable dinner menu. I had the Gin & Juice drink, it was pretty good but a little small for $11. I also had the Shrimp fritters appetizer, pretty delicious, and the sauce was hitting, but you only get 4 fritters, so probably wouldn't order again.
I got the chicken panini, it was AMAZING, flavorful, fresh tasting, good portion as well. My friend got the shrimp and grits, it was very tasty, the grits are in a triangle cake shape (not your southern grits), but still delicious, a little on the spicy side for us that have to be spice conscious. We also got the cajun shrimp pasta, a lil salty and could use more sauce, but fairly good, probably wouldnt get it again though.
Place is a little loud but not so much that you cant have a decent convo.
Overall a good spot to try atleast once!
When I’m in DC, Busboy and Poets is always on my list of things to do. This could have easily been a 5 star experience however it took longer than usual for someone to come to my table and acknowledge me. She said she didn’t know I was here.
I ordered the sweet potato pancakes with cage free scrambled eggs. These pancakes are so good that I crave them every time I go back home to Charlotte, NC. They are perfectly flavored and cooked just right. If you don’t have a huge sweet tooth, you could really eat them with no syrup. Also, the fresh squeezed orange juice is really good. It’s $6 for a large however in my opinion, it’s well worth it. It’s like my breakfast dessert.
The staff is friendly overall. The place is large with plenty of seating. It houses a bookstore in the waiting area and a bar. Parking is limited in the area but there is street parking available if you’re lucky enough to score a spot.
