This small two story gem is a great place to socialize and to enjoy a beverage. 5$ any drink happy hour is what makes this spot shine as well as there amazing fries! This spot is not to loud nor to quiet. Likewise with how crowded it is. Great music, fast service. My only gripe... the bar dose mot yell you that there is an upstairs. Highly recommend. Good place to bring a date to. Also has one of the nicest bathrooms a bar can have.
We had a fabulous evening last night, chiefly due to the wonderful experience we had at CRISP. The staff was super friendly and helpful--the woman waiting on us was always around to make sure we had everything we needed. We each got a cocktail and were again dazzled by the experience, the drinks were so good! The big event of the evening was when WE ORDERED THE OG CHICKEN SANDWICH. I decided to write this review because I just had to share that this sandwich was possibly the BEST chicken sandwich I ever had. The chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection and the combination of condiments and toppings made for a RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE. I am counting the days until I can go back for another sandwich, thank you CRISP for a lovely dinner!

Close quarters makes the experience feel personal, but the vibe and volume make it inviting. Fun place, simple but solid menu, good drinks, and excellent staff. Never had a bad time there. Check out the eclectic movie showings in the upstairs bar before the rush.
Crisp has one of the best happy hours around, with $5 anything behind the bar, and delicious fried chicken.
Update;. The OG chicken sandwich is no longer a dry rubbed Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It's still good, but now comes slathered in hot sauce with tartar sauce as well.
Perfect neighborhood bar! Its a gem, tucked away in Bloomingdale. The best happy hour in D.C. and I highly recommend, grabbing some delicious food from the menu. Everyone, who comes in or works there, are SUPER friendly!! Glad i found this place!
If you are into spicy food this is a stop for you. They specialize in Nashville hot chicken which is hard fried chicken with lots of seasoning and some hot sauce added.
I personally went with the hot fish. Cornmeal breaded fried catfish with the spicy seasoning. I got two large planks of fish that were very fresh and clean tasting. The breading went beyond crispy to crunchy, but the extra heft and texture complemented the flaky fish while deftly avoiding a trip to greasy-ville or mushy-town. The spice was front and center, but not overwhelming....at first. The heat built up as I ate. Spicy is not really my thing, but this was good. If you are a habanero freak, this won't even register.
My dining companion's southern fried chicken (no hot sauce) was a bit overdone, but still juicy. There was a slight kick to the standard breading but nowhere near the heat of the catfish. The sides were solid, and the service was mellow, but very polite.
Most notably, two entrees and a beer only came to $30, so a very good meal for that price in the District.
Cheap and delicious. Great drink specials. Excellent happy hour ($5 beer, wine and cocktails) and cute little location. The menu is a bit limited but the OG chicken sandwich was amazing!
Great service, I love the ambiance. They ran out of chicken, but it was their 2nd night being open and I came well into dinner service. That being said the "hot fish" was the best catfish I've ever had.
The hot chicken here is terrific. Crispy, juicy, packs respectable heat. Drinks and desserts are decent but not standout. Service is friendly if a bit overburdened.
Outstanding chicken - crunchiest, most juicyest, nice and spicy Tennessee style goodness. If you're a fan of the spicy fried chicken, you'll probably leave happy. Don't come here for the service though.
Crisp is an awesome addition to the neighborhood. They have $5 HH from 5-8pm every night, EVERY NIGHT! You can't beat it. Also the hot chicken is spicy and delish, but the burger and patty melt are also solid.
Went here for brunch and it was nice! I dig the comfy vibe and the staff were accommodating to our large group. Can't comment as to the food because I didn't eat, but it looked good.
Didn't get a chance to try the food, but the drinks were strong and inexpensive. Great happy hour special and awesome staff! Loved the vibe and music
Spicy crispy chicken is good. Has a down home feel. Grab a drink and sit by the window at the bar upstairs. It's like having a drink and some good people watching if you're into that thing.
