Best margaritas in town. Had 2 pitchers amongst our group and it was worth the price. Food was excellent. So far, it’s the only Mexican place that has a lamb dish. Since we were a large group, we shared many of the menu items and I can only say they were some of the best I’ve had.
I can't say enough nice things about this spot. I love the decor which is an ode to dia de Muertos without being campy. There are several cozy nooks all over the restaurant. The menu is Mexican with a twist. My Son and I loved every dish we ordered. The Margaritas are out of this world, my Son was envious of my drink so they made him a mocktail. I highly recommend the beef tongue tacos, vegetable tacos, fish tacos, plantains, street corn, tres leches cake -we ate one and ordered one to go. P.S: Take an Uber ormake reservations after 6:30 when parking on Connecticut opens back up.
Had a wonderful experience at MayahuelThe serviche was delicious though a little spicy, the fish tacos were amazing! My only negative was that the chips and salsa were very minimal and when we ordered for the whole table only one little basket of chips and salsa was brought out. The guacamole it was very very tasty and fresh. Other than that though the whole experience was wonderful. the space is terrific looking, service staff was very friendly and very efficient considering the size of our group. Would definitely go back.
Really awesome sauce food and house margaritas. Not your typical combination mexican joint, its much better than that and we had a really good time here tonight for my birthday dinner. Beef tongue tacos were our favorite. Big portions, took a lot home with us and we're looking forward to it tomorrow. Churros for dessert were fabulous too.
Great drinks and service here. Food super tasty and big portions.
Amazing and delicious food. Happy hour is the best. Staff are great.
Felt very safe to visit during the pandemic. Outside dining with heat lamps.
I tried beef tongue (tacos) for the first time and it was a good experience! The waitress was friendly and they were able to accommodate our group of 7 for lunch with no problem.
Second time here in 3 days!
If you have to get just one thing on the menu, make it their mango-tamarind margarita
Good food, good service
They're still pretty new, so give them a chance
Have always loved district kitchen and I'm glad to add mayahuel to my favorite restaurants list as well!
Great food. Had some great specials for Cinco de Mayo. Margaritas were very good. Nachos were very good. Beef tacos were very good. Highly recommend the churos for dessert!
The service and food was so good that we made a second visit.
Consistent with the first visit!
Cane took exceptional care of us! The food is flavorful and cooked to perfection!
Awesome food! Keep some space for their Churros and make sure you start with one of their delicious cocktails!
This restaurant was amazing! Best tacos and amazing atmosphere! Will definitely go to again when I'm in DC again. I had chips and salsa and chicken and beef brisket tacos!
The food tastes like authentic Mexican food (no Tex-Mex flavor compared to many DC restaurants). The service is simply impressive. Different than other very good Mexican restaurants in DC, the price is very good, hence the quality/price ratio is fantastic. Strongly recommend it. They have a great happy hour on Saturdays for food and drinks.

Awesome food and even better staff!
My wife and I have ordered a lot of takeout during the pandemic, and this was without doubt in our top 3 takeout dinners. The entrees are filling and delicious, and the to-go margaritas are great. The esquites side dish is the best corn we've ever had. Will definitely be back!
This place is so good! Authentic, delicious food. And the drinks are a great compliment to your meal. We definitely plan to come back again and again to enjoy their margaritas with some tacos. Highly recommend!
I've been here twice and both experiences have exceeded my expectations. This is a casual Mexican food restaurant with delicious tacos. I've ordered the hearts of palm and avocado salad with added shrimp twice and each time has been fantastic. I will keep coming to this restaurant for that dish alone.
They have a great margarita selection and very reasonable pricing. This place will not disappoint anyone look for a quality Mexican food experience in the Woodley Park area.
honestly this place was phenomenal! I read a review below before going here that said their food tasted authentic mexican and that is the best thing I can say about this place. the food was truly delicious.
here’s what you order...
cocktail: la conquista, better than a margarita
entree: carne asada tacos, so much flavor in the steak and the rice and beans as a side is perfect to eat simultaneously
dessert: churros con nutella, hot cinnamon churros with ice cream and nutella it doesn’t get better with the hot and cold. we split them it was the perfect finisher.
the bartender was very friendly, we will be returning because apparently there’s a happy hour?? mind blown.
Tacos were good but you have to explicitly ask for corn tortillas, they don't even ask what you'd prefer. My flan came out with cookies and cream on it, which is a hell of an idea. Prices were fairly reasonable.
