Title: Soulful Delights at Oohh's and Aahh's!
During my recent trip earlier this month, I had the pleasure of dining at Oohh's and Aahh's Soul Food Restaurant in Washington, DC, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The soft lighting set the mood for a cozy dinner, and the service was excellent, delivering my meal promptly. I ordered the baked chicken leg quarter with mashed yams and mashed potatoes on the side, accompanied by a diet Coke.
The baked chicken leg quarter was a standout dish, with its crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the smoky flavor from the baking process added a delightful touch. Pulling the meat off the bones was easy, making it a satisfying choice after a day of exploring the city.
The mashed potatoes were fluffy and dense, seasoned well with butter and salt, while the mashed yams offered a sweet and flavorful contrast. What made this meal exceptional was how these flavors complemented each other, creating a delicious harmony on my plate.
Oohh's and Aahh's Soul Food Restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating across two levels and a full bar for those who enjoy alcoholic beverages. I sat on the main floor, where I could catch up on some TV. The restaurant's relaxed ambiance, soft soul, and R&B music in the background made it the perfect spot to unwind.
Even better, the price was reasonable, with my meal costing around $20. If you're looking for a soulful dining experience in Washington, DC, Oohh's and Aahh's is a must-visit. I truly enjoyed my meal and can't wait to return for more.
From Miami and visiting our son who lives in the DC area for college. And hands down this was the best restaurant we have tried since we've been visiting the area over the last 4 years. Catfish was perfect with the side of yams and Mac and cheese. Turkey Wing and Short ribs were also excellent. We all shared a little so we tried almost everything. Will definitely be back when we are in the area again.
Me and my auntie went here while i was in town. I had the fried shrimp and she had the catfish, both the dishes were amazing and the service was top notch. I would love to come back again😁
Family of 8 and we had a wonderful experience. Gary was our server and he was spot on with all of your request. The food was extremely delicious and it was a large amount per order. We will be back to this location on GA Ave. Thank you again for great service and delicious food!
I heard about this place on a Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives commercial.
I ordered the catfish with collard greens and 4 cheese Mac. Outstanding!!

The fish was so tender and tasty, the greens tasted like heaven! The service was outstanding.
I am a seasoned service worker and very impressed with the food and service. I recommend this place highly.
The delicious food had me saying "oohh," "ahhh" and a ton of other compliments! Highly recommend the two meats meal so you can try different meats. My catfish, meatloaf, mac-n-cheese, collard greens, and mashed yams were fulfilling and fantastic. I cannot wait to try my sweet potato cake later on.
We came to town for the Miami Dolphins verse Washington Commander game. After the game we wanted to try a black owned restaurant. The hospitality as soon as we walked into the restaurant was great. Our waiter upstairs was awesome. The food was great as well as the drinks. Oh and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely will visit again on our next trip.
We didn't have to wait on a table and the service was great! I ordered the whiting meal with mac n cheese and greens. My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles. My son ordered the turkey wings with mac n cheese and yams. Everybody enjoyed their meal and then we sat a little while to make room for peach cobbler. All the food was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and madd us feel welcome.
Food was ABSOLUTELY delicious
And the downstairs looked great but the upstairs needs more art and decor
The waitress was overwhelmed or something...... forgot my drink..... forgot our tea and to go orders which caused us to hold the table up when we could have been gone
Had the chicken wings and waffles, with butter and syrup, the buffalo sauce was tangy and a bit sweet! The waffles have a very distinct flavor. And we also got 8 wings with the 4 cheese mac n cheese (it was to die for)! Washed it down with a mix of sweet tea and lemonade; Ended it all with a banana pudding, get it before it runs out!
I drove 30 minutes for some turkey wings from here . The turkey wings were good , the mac & cheese noodles were over cooked with big balls of cheese , I like it more solid, the greens were good . As I got my food I reminded the cashier of my red velvet cake, she told me it’s in the bag . Sadly after driving all the way home I notice it’s not in my bag . I know I should have checked the bag while in the store but I had a lot on my mind and Rosita S assured me that my cake was in my bag .
Had an awesome dinner mainly because our server was so sweet and kind. Kelly did an excellent job at making us comfortable. Would leave out the cornbread next trip but definitely tasty and reasonable prices!
This was my first time visiting, and my friend found this place on TikTok so we went for her birthday. The food was so good that was the best grits and catfish I’ve ever had.
I brought a group of 15 people for brunch. Amazing waiter his name was Mike. He was such a joy and was so cheerful, and really made sure that we had everything that we needed from beginning to end. He did a great job suggesting food for everyone to try if you were new here. We all enjoyed our food everything was flavored perfectly and cooked to perfection. He even made sure we had a huge plate of cornbread even though it wasn’t necessarily on the brunch menu. I got the catfish meal with greens and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese was super flavorful and creamy. I really love how they use so many cheeses. The greens were super flavorful they also had a pink sweet combine with the cornbread it’s a match made in heaven. I’m excited for dessert I look forward to eating the peach cobbler.
Had the catfish & grits plus a rum punch 👊🏽 All delicious 😋 The staff was very friendly and attentive. Definitely putting into the rotation 🤎
