Pop up bar for game of thrones was awesome! Waited in line but that was expected. Drinks were great and the prices were reasonable. The staff was fun and inviting. Must do before the end of the show this season.
Months ago two friends took my wife and I to this unique bar. We only ordered apps and drinks, but the apps were great (wow, the olives were EXCELLENT!). I'm not convinced I am a fan of sherry, but the drinks I had were good. I give this place four stars for bringing the unique to DC and for opening right next to a Metro in an up and coming DC neighborhood. For sure go once for a unique experience.
I was skeptical at the idea of a Sherry Bar at first, but was quickly dissuaded of this notion upon actually visiting this cozy bar (and coffee house!). Not only did I learn that Sherry refers to a region (just like Port), but that all Sherry isn't the sickeningly sweet stuff of popular imagination. That said, I sampled a range of Sherry in various flights and am not certain that it is 'my drink' but this has nothing to do with Mockingbird Hill, which itself is excellent and worth the experience. If you are curious as to the wider world of Sherry, or already a fan, this is the place to go!
Did someone say Sherry? Not the cream stuff! Yea, they have tons and by far the largest in section in the DC and probably on the east coast. They have a nice selection of cheese and cured meats to go with it. I highly recommend they're Sherry flight because they're a great deal. They also have a nice assortment cocktails inspired by Sherry...of course it's Derek Brown.
Had a great time here on a Saturday night. Not overly crowded, excellent selection of Sherries (surprise, surprise), knowledgable and attentive staff, and a good vibe. The only reason I'm giving 4 rather than 5 stars is the rather paltry serving of Lamb Prosciutto I received for $10. I'm not rushing back, but I'll definitely return!
You want ham? Actually this is not a question it's a statement... You want ham. Mockingbird Hill serves some amazing prosciutto blends. If you are a n00b to salted meats, go for the sampler... Long story short... I love pig
Mockingbird Hill also has a strange affection for sherry which admittedly I am a n00b when it comes to them. They are more than willing to share their knowledge an guide you on a tour through the sherry Valley. Which should start with the sherry garlic back. Seriously it's fantastic.
A requirement for this place is that you should like Sherry or willing to give it a sporting try. They have all kinds and if you do not know, ask the bartender cause they are very knowledgeable. You should also get a few of their small plates, they pair with the sherry very well.
Knowledgeable servers take their time with every patron. We had flights of sherry & several tastings of ham. Perfect start to the night.
Atmosphere is awesome, food great, and drinks that get you into trouble!
The only Sherry bar in the city I know of. Good cocktails, great ambiance and please please try the pickled garlic, they are amazing.
I've only been during their holiday pop-up, which required arriving early and waiting in line, but was well worth it and nice to see a bar go all out like that.
Duck prosciutto and pickled deviled eggs was amazing. Great flight of sherry. Awesome experience on a busy night.
My mum is real aficionado of sherry, and loved both the place, sherry selection and charcuterie. If you do sherry, a must to stop here
Pop up bars here are awesome! Yeah the lines seem like they are not worth it but the drinks are dope
