Located within the up and coming Union Market, Righteous Cheese is a cheese lovers dream. I went for a beer and cheese pairing at their bar. 6 cheeses paired with 3 different beer samples. They offer classes to walk you though the pairing tasting with a history of the cheeses and beers. This is great fun and delicious. For better or worse, the tasting was only about one beer in volume. They offer some wonderful cheeses that expand from the typical cheeses that we've come to know. Yum!

I attended a Google event hosted by Righteous Cheese. I was expecting the usual fare, but they blew me away with unusual selections that paired masterfully with a wine selection. More than just vendors, the staff knew the cheeses, their background, and made the entire experience fun (and delicious). Worth a trip to Union Market. Great date idea too.

Came here for Google Local DC's Wine and Cheese event, and was blown by the selection variation. The speaker knew her stuff from the cheese origins, process, wine production, cultivating methods, proper cheese wrapping methodology, and more. My knowledge in wine and cheese is already on the low end, but the wine and cheese combo was quite interesting. Honestly, I'm not a big wine person, but I really liked two of the three glasses of wine she gave, and all the various types of cheese. If you're new to the wine and cheese culture, check this place out!

Righteous Cheese is more than just another cheese shop. It's your one stop shop for all things cheese. For a booth in Union Market, it's pretty sizeable. Their staff is well trained and can recommend all sorts of cheeses from behind their counter. On top of that here are just a few other things you'll find: - All the friends of cheese like jams, meats, and the like (in case you're getting cheese for a picnic). - Cheese bags in case you're making your own cheese. - Cheese boards in all sorts of material including a giant DC shaped cheese board. - Grilled cheese (with a side of hot honey to dip it in). If you love a grilled cheese, stop by for lunch or dinner. If you want a good cheese to munch on, this is your spot!

A wonderful shop within Union Market boasting a gorgeous selection of cheeses. Firm, creamy, mild, stinky — they have everything one might want, and knowledgable and friendly cheesemongers to help guide your selection. All cheeses are cut to order, ensuring freshness and quality. Cheese pairings are educational and delicious. Absolutely love this place.

A fantastic place to pick up a variety of locally sourced cheeses for home, a gift, or a party, but the real win here is to "dine in" with a cheese platter and wine pairing served up by the friendly staff at the bar. Located within Union Market, Righteous is a destination in its own right, but also a fabulous addition to a wonderful local, artisan market.

Ok first off if you don't love cheese you really need to reevaluate your life. Righteous Cheese was gracious enough to host a private event which I had the chance to attend where the extremely knowledgeable hostess was able to educate you from the types of animal curds all the whey (see what I did there) to types of rind. We learned about pairings, how different cheese coated your mouth and how best to select the proper cheese. Excellent class -- I would highly recommend going when they open up their classes again!! As for the cheese selection -- ITS MASSIVE! It is honestly to the point of overwhleming -- but they know this and they are there to help. Its easy to ignore a lot of cheeses and go for whats familiar -- but this is exactly what you shouldn't do. Righteous cheese even offers a Cheese database that logs the cheeses you have had so you can keep trying new ones! I honestly cant say enough about the people who work here. I will not glaze over the fact that the cheese is not cheap. But this isn't your kraft american cheese either. These cheeses are meant to be enjoyed with a glass of vino versus inhaled as an accouterment to your coke zero while watching fire-fly. Give them a shot -- you wont regret it!

Everything I had here was great. The prices are high, but not uncompetitive given the market.
