Wow! I was not expecting such high end food! Heard amazing things but Shilling took it to another level! Even the one bite starters were raising my eye brows!! The food was extremely delicious, one dish after the next. The service was right on. Jonathon and Emily were so incredibly attentive to us and even brought our kids some paper and pens. The vibe was flowing as the music and scene were perfect. Everyone in DC needs to check this restaurant out immediately!!!!!! Thanks Reed for an amazing experience!
We went for dinner. The food was great! My feedback generally was the service was lack luster. My drink came out with the second course, there were long pauses between courses. But the real sticker for me was the fact that there were no spoons. I was served a crab cake with gazpacho, in a bowl- but was only given a fork. For dessert my pie and ice cream also only had a fork. It made my dining experience difficult and it’s the little things that make service over the top.
Again great food, large portions, but thoughtfulness in the little things and service would really allow them to go the extra mile!
The cookie at the end was great.
The lamb was plentiful but the sauce on the side detracted from the flavor. All the desert was amazing- great textures and flavors. Salad was super fresh and refreshing. Would go again for the food!
Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Stellar. This kitchen is creative and executing like few kitchens are in the greater DC area. Innovative, delicious, perfectly prepared, service impeccable. Hat tip to Conner the sommelier. Great job with pairings. Incredible evening. Definitely returning.
Fancy Brunch at a Michelin starred restaurant, sign me up.
The restaurant has a modern aesthetic that was pristine, yet inviting.
I really appreciated how the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to guide me to a meal that I would be totally satisfying.
I decided to go all out and I ordered the Regiis of Caviar which came with three small bites of caviar. Only draw back was, that I wished there was more to eat.
To accompany the caviar, I also ordered the deviled eggs and the country ham biscuits which were also very good.
Next time I visit it will be to check out their dinner menu.
A very good restaurant. Food was really tasty with sizeable portions. They easily accommodated our larger group on the patio and our server Johnathan was on top of it. The Wagyu burger was delicious and the fries were massive. The mimosas were also really good - I preferred traditional but mostly because the orange juice is sweeter. I would return, but would want others to be aware that the prices add up and parking in the area is limited. Navy Yard metro is about an 8 minute walk away though, which isn't bad. The area is cute with some shops, a winery and ice cream store right nearby along with the river right across the street.
For elevated bar food, walk into Navy Yard's Shilling Canning Company and sit at the bar. There's an outdoor patio and a beautifully-decorated dining room, but the bar is what you want.
Stopping in on a Wednesday evening at 8 p.m., my buddy and I found spots at the bar. The bartender immediately came over to walk us through the menu. A negroni for my friend and the La Princesa for me were refreshing. If you like more sweet drinks, order the La Princesa. For my second drink, I ordered a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc and it was refreshing!
To eat, we split the country ham biscuits and pickle plate. The biscuits come in threes and are small but packed with flavor.
For the mains, we split try fried chicken sandwich and waygu burger. Both come with house made chips with a delicious rub on it. Both sandwiches were good, but could have used a little more flavor. Still good, though!
For dessert, we got the butterscotch pot de creme. It’s rich, creamy, and perfect.
Service was impeccable and the space is gorgeous. There’s street parking or lot parking nearby.
(Disclaimer: Our meal was comped.)
Went out to brunch with my girl and her bf. Ordered the breakfast burrito with hash browns and apricot mimosas. Food was really good. Hash browns were a bit too salty but overall I liked it. I would go again.
Food was amazingly good. The three course tasting menu was so so good and the service was top notch. I had the Homemade Country Sausage, Chicken Ballotine, and the Rum Baba. I also added their delicious French Onion Soup as a second appetizer. Someone else ordered a la carte and had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (which I will have to get whenever I come back). Everything was clean plate worthy. The servers were incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and how everything was prepared. I would recommend 1000 times out of 1000.
Best food, atmosphere and service I have had in 6 years of DC brunching. Johnathan is a true master of his craft!
Went for the Chef Counter experience to celebrate my birthday and can not recommend this place enough. The service was an absolute stand out, everyone took time to talk with my friend and I about the wine and food we were enjoying, it really made the night special. The 7 courses were perfect on their own but the wine pairings were so on point. Without a doubt the portions of each dish were far larger then other restaurants of this caliber... actually having top tier left overs the next day is a huge win. Bravo.
