I've never enjoyed much of urban culture and normal foods made to be unique, though I can say that the atmosphere were very respectful and the service was attentive and kind.
The coffee was good, I got a latte with vanilla syrup. I also got their quiche food option, it was good, warm, filled with flavor. However I am not a big fan of goat cheese so it lacked that small bit for me!
I would go here again and even recommend it for others.
We are so happy that Ellē made our wedding cake. Since our venue was providing dessert as part of a three-course meal to our guests, we wanted a small cake for ceremonial cutting. I primarily worked with Lizzie, who was so easy to work with. We had a delicious cake that looked beautiful at an excellent price. I would highly recommend their cakes for any special occasion!
Elle has such a beautiful space to meet up with friends or enjoy solo! Their staff is super friendly and welcoming. I tried their BBQ Tempeh burger and I was amazed by how delicious it was! I definitely recommend stopping by here to enjoy their food and space!
The breakfast sandwich is fantastic!!! And good coffee too. I haven’t eaten dinner here in a long time so I’ll have to come back to dine soon. But I recall loving the food here. Lovely space in one of the best neighborhoods in DC.
Fantastic! We loved everything we ordered. The halibut was divine. The vegetable forward options were excellent, and the sourdough bread was perfection. We’ll definitely be going again!
Be warned! They automatically add a 20% gratuity. I don't understand why restaurants have to do this. Just raise the price of their food. The tip should be a reflection of the service provided.
We only got one food item and then also ordered 2 teas. The food item was a tuna croquette, and that was really good. It was expensive for 3 tiny croquettes, but the flavor was complex with a nice acidity.
The two teas were pretty generic black tea and green tea. They were using fancy names for the teas, but my palette isn't sophisticated enough to differentiate green teas lol.
Delicious food! Ellē is a popular breakfast/lunch spot in mt. pleasant that I’ve been wanting to try. We came on a Saturday morning so it was pretty busy. Seating is first come first serve. I went with their yogurt with housemade granola, an orange almond rosemary coffee cake and an iced miso caramel latte. My friend got their breakfast sandwich and a hot miso caramel latte. They also had fresh sourdough that I was tempted to try, but hope to grab one next time.
My yogurt and granola bowl was delicious! The homemade granola really makes a difference, and the jam that came with it was amazing. The coffee cake was also so unique. The orange flavor was subtle but sweet enough, and cake itself was really soft and fresh. For my latte the flavor was very faint. I could barely taste the caramel or miso in it, which is a bummer because I was looking forward to trying it.
Overall this was a great breakfast spot to meet a friend or even to grab something to go! Be sure to come early on weekends to avoid longer lines and easily grab a table.
Great date night spot. Everything we tried was delicious! Service was top notch.
Delightful place. Old diner look and feel but really tastefully prepared food. Staff were simply dressed, very attentive and helpful. The four of us each had a different favorite dish and I liked the salmon best followed closely by the steak. The food was very, very good.

The first course was a strong start. Favorite was this vegan XO sauce, it was bomb.
Second course was fine.
Third course was outstanding, one of my favorites.
The main course with the pork was good, but it was the accompanying sides that were really memorable.
The pavlova dessert with the blueberry compote was outstanding, like a cream puff with jelly on it.
The drink pairings were a bit more miss than hit, but the last one with the dessert was epic, the vermouth was incredible.
I also very much enjoyed my cocktail, the Lickety Split. Highly recommended.
Our server was awesome, very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. She handled ever curve ball we threw at her with aplomb.
Expansive cafe with plenty of seating and unique lattes. I can never resist a good flavored latte and this was the first time I'd seen Peach Cobbler Latte on a menu, so I had to try it! The flavor was subtle and sweet. I was surprised by how large the interior was, there's definitely plenty of seating whether you're catching up with friends over brunch of powering through a thesis on your laptop.
Most interesting dining experience. We got the 5-course set menu. Loved the stuffed fish dish! But some of the dishes lack cohesion.

Their coffee is amazing! Love their latte. There is no Wifi in this place. I want to try their lunch/dinner. Awesome local favorite.
Nice spot to pick up a coffee to go. They have a better feel than Tatte since it’s a local coffee shop/restaurant. My current favorite drink is Autumn Spice Latte. You can actually taste the spices and the pumpkin. Although, it is a bit on the pricer end than other local coffee around the Mount Pleasant area since they charge you a 10 % service fee on every transaction. Understandable since the economy is not favorable for the working class and Elle seems to take good care of their employees.
Ellē is a great place for breakfast! You order at the counter, no problem to find a table. Atmosphere and Ambiance is neat and comfortable. The restaurant appears super clean. Servers are pleasant, communicative, efficient and knowledgeable. And most importantly the food is nicely presented, taste was delicious to a good price point. I can highly recommend the salmon omelet and cow pie! Super good!
Great experience, super friendly staff—they gave me a baguette for the road as I was leaving too which was interesting. I love that they pay a living wage to their staff and include gratuity for you with a very visible explanation/statement of extra gratuity if you so choose. The ambiance is super cute and the food is delicious.
Moderately priced with excellent food and an intriguing concept. The cocktails were creative and delicious, the bread was fresh and fantastic, and the entire meal excellent. The squash lentil curry salad (pictured) was a real standout of interesting texture and flavors. The scallops a garlic bomb in the best way, and the honey garlic fried chicken with watermelon and a biscuit a winning take on one of my favorite classic dishes.
I love the design and was comfortable in the seating area. The only downside was volume, although that may have been due to some particularly loud customers.
Highly recommended, one of DC's best new spots that can be had for a reasonable price, given the quality. I'll be back to try breakfast and lunch out soon.
