Via Ghibellina is a hidden gem located in Ivy City. VG specializes in Tuscan fare, cocktails and wine. The staff are so friendly and welcoming to all guests. They treat us like family given how often we visit. You will not find better Italian cuisine in Washington D.C. From their pasta to their pizza, the food is made to perfection.

Amazing!! Took a friend who is in town for her birthday and it was absolutely amazing, although it was a week and it wasn’t super busy which is great because I serve it was extremely attentive! We started with the bread, warm and crispy drizzled in an amazing olive oil. And the CAPRESE! The tomatoes were phenomenal, and the mozzarella was very fresh! For drinks we ordered a champagne drink. It was really good and refreshing. My entree I had PETTO DI POLLO AL LIMONE E CAPERI LIMONE the crispy potatoes were really good. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the sauce was amazing. The only downside is that it was small it definitely left me wanting more, it was more of a tasting portion verses entree portion. I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant and try a couple more things. If you’re in the area, please check it out.

This place is amazing! The food was exception and Rodrigo was so attentive and kind. We had such a lovely dinner date. It was cozy, but sophisticated, and felt so intimate. Go here!!

Went for my sister’s birthday. The calamari/shrimp appetizer was ok. The lobster bisque was flavorful and went well with the breadsticks. Both people who had pizza enjoyed their food. Three people who ordered ragu loved their food. The person who ordered the cacio e Pepe loved her food. My brother enjoyed his steak although he wished he would have gotten the pizza. I had the pasta with buffalo mozzarella and eggplant. Awesome. Good food.

I've been here twice. In those visits I have ordered the four cheese pizza, mushroom risotto, funghi pizza, panna cotta, tiramisu, and the branzino fish. I have no complaints. Service is prompt. The atmosphere is pleasant. It always makes for a nice stop after visiting the Target nearby. Food is consistent, fresh, and tasty. The funghi (mushroom) pizza in particular was incredible. The place has been pretty empty when we have gone, I hope that's not always the case, because it immediately became a favorite after our first time going. I haven't tried the pasta dishes yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Yum, yum, yum! A fantastic hidden gem. Had a burrata with grapefruit/ pine nuts, cacio e pepe with spinach and asparagus sides. The food was awesome and the service impeccable. The staff guided us through the wine list thoughtfully asking several questions to help us decide. We had tiramisu and panna cotta to close out the meal. Such a wonderful dinner.

Came in within the last hour before they closed. Got the pizza and pasta. Both delivered in flavor and consistency. Desert was one of the best! Will have to come back for their lobster specials. Overall amazing service. :)

Via Ghibellina is an awesome hidden gem and was a perfect addition to an Italian themed evening in DC for my husband and I. We were in the area tasting Italian liqueurs at Don Ciccio and Figli and were ready for dinner. We walked around the block and decided to stop in here. The restaurant is rather unassuming from outside, but as soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Everyone we interacted with on the staff was very kind. One gentlemen by the name of Rodrigo, I believe, asked what our general preferences were for Italian food and then gave great recommendations. I noticed he was attentive to all the tables in this manner, which was really great to see. It should be noted this is a small to average sized establishment and was moderately busy while we were there. We ordered caprese to start accompanied by Chianti and then two homemade pasta dishes (beef with noodles and lamb with noodles) for our entrees. They also gave us homemade bread that was a perfect compliment to the caprese. Everything was very fresh and delicious. What may seem like rather simple dishes were distinctly flavorful and well put together. We ordered tiramisu for dessert and while I would have like the lady fingers a little more soaked in espresso, it was still really good. I would definitely come back and you should give this place a chance the next time you are in the neighborhood. Thanks! :-)

Service was great! We had two dogs with us and it was kind of drizzling outside, but they were still able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. We ordered a pizza to share, an arugula salad, pasta and steak. We loved everything! One of the steak dish was made well done, when ordered medium rare, and the waiter was nice enough to take it back to the kitchen and make another one. Would definitely come back again!!

Rodrigo took such good care of our group! My bridesmaids planned out a reservation for my bachelorette and they were sweet enough to spruce up my dessert for the evening. Service was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend folks make their way out here for any occasion out.

Had an amazing dinner here at Via Ghibellina! Super lovely restaurant in Ivy City near Planet Fitness and Mom’s. This is some of the best and most authentic Italian we’ve had yet in the city. We got the arancini appetizer and they gave a DELICIOUS flatbread with it as well. I got the house Chardonnay, which was good, though a little more light than I wanted. For meals, we got the pappardelle con ragú di agnello (braised lamb, green olives, tomato, grana padano and mint) and pici alla carretiera (garlic, olive oil, light spicy tomato sauce, pepperoncino, basil). Both were amazing, though I think both us agree the pappardelle took the crown for the night. The pici was wonderful, but maybe slightly too spicy. Be cautious if you’re not big into spice on that dish! Aside from the food, the service was incredible. Everyone was kind and genuine. One of the staff there actually saw that our table was a little wobbly upon sitting, and immediately asked to fix it for us. We will gladly be returning and highly recommending!

Love their pasta! Normally I don't seek out Italian restaurants because pasta is one of the easier dishes to cook at home but their pasta is just something else. So good! Also I liked the ambience here

Food was amazing and service by wait staff was excellent. I had the veal ravioli and it was great. The ravioli pasta was on point with a great ratio of meat and cheese perfectly packed into the ravioli. I also like the bread they serve as you sit down. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I am definitely coming back and will bring some friends as I highly recommend.

Grabbed a great pizza here before heading over to Other Half for some beers. I was the only person there at dinner time on a Thursday evening and my pizza came out in less than 10 minutes.

My husband and I go quite often to Italy for business reasons, so we can say with safe reference that Via Ghibelina offers the most authentic Italian cuisine in the area. Everything we have tried was tasty and the service didn’t fall behind in anything! I definitely recommend it!

Finally made it over to Via Ghibellina after an amaro tasting at Don Ciccio e Figli. The restaurant itself is a nice space, open and lively while still feeling comfortable. The food was great—particularly the steak with blueberry sauce. Sounds odd but it was phenomenal! The cheese and meat boards were also very tasty, although it might be a good idea to offer a combination bord for people who want both cheese and meat but don’t want to order two full boards. Drinks were pretty standard, but the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo that I had was good, solid wine. The service was perfectly attentive without being overbearing, and our waiter was very knowledgeable and candid. Especially once the area around Ivy City is a bit more economically developed and is easier to get to, I have a feeling it will be hard to get a reservation at this place.

Mi fiancé and I have been here two times and the food has been delicious both times. It’s hard to get good Italian and the pastas here really stand out. Nice staff and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
