My husband and I had never been to Door County and we wanted to try something new. We had also never stayed in a bed and breakfast and thought, if anyone was going to do a B&B right, it would be Door County. After looking around online, I found Hotel Washington and fell in love with the pictures. It looked, to me, the way a B&B should look. When I found that the price per night was at least half the cost of the other resorts I was looking at, I picked up the phone and made our reservation right then. When we arrived, the place was even better than the photos. We loved every second of our stay. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was wonderful, the dinner menu is nothing short of pure excellence, the wait staff was knowledgeable in every aspect of the food and drink provided, and the owner and other staff made us feel right at home. The restrooms are shared; however, do not let this deter you. They are clean, well stocked, lovely, and we never had to wait to shower or use the facilities (and all the rooms were booked mind you). Staying at this perfect B&B connected us to guests in a fashion we have never experienced before. Our second night there, we used the outdoor fire pit and socialized with 6 other guests well into the evening. At breakfast we connected with a lady who shares my occupation and will be visiting my small business later this month to further network. We also made new friends that we spent one rainy evening playing Gin Rummy well into the wee hours of the morning, and at breakfast exchanged contact information and offers to visit one another. We will be back to Door County and the only place we will stay is Hotel Washington. They truly made our trip exceptional.
Hotel Washington was great! Hospitality was thru the roof!!! I definitely recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone and everyone! It's more of a romantic get away with amazing food! But we had our son with us, and the staff catered to our family and our son with 💯 gratitude.. even going as far as to make a special breakfast for Grayson because he is under a year old and can't eat solids completely yet. They made him homemade applesauce! The food was great! The staff were awesome! The atmosphere was like something I've never seen before!! We will see you all next year!! Definitely going back!!! ❤️❤️
This is one of the best place on the island. My wife and I were so excited to find this B & B. Accommodations were just excellent. The best part by far was meeting Jeannie Kokes the owner. She made us feel right at home the moment we stepped into the place. The next morning, she made us a fantastic breakfast that we enjoyed so much. We can't recommend Hotel Washington enough. Check it out. You won't regret it.
Unbelievably delicious. Easily the best meal I have eaten in a restaurant on the island in 9 years of living here. I had crabcakes, asparagus soup and even my 7 year old son who ordered the whitefish (served over a bed of great vegetables) said his meal was "so good." So very grateful to have a place on the island that offers this quality of dining and at a price my family can actually afford.Thanks!
Amazing stay, I highly recommend!!! The staff was outstanding, going above and beyond at every turn. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom nicely redone, and the decor perfect for the island. Definitely check out the restaurant. Already planning on coming back.

This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The service is friendly and personalized. The accommodations are luxurious. And the food is phenomenal! I'd recommend Hotel Washington to anyone looking for a relaxing, secluded weekend in the best part of NorDoor.

We had our wedding weekend with our immediate family at Hotel Washington & Studio. Jeanne, Jan, Shanae and team were amazing! It’s a beautiful setting for a relaxing weekend, delicious food and wine, and the perfect place to get married. They certainly made our special weekend “wonder-filled” and we were lucky with the weather to get married outdoors under the oak tree. Sarah’s yoga class was just what I needed for pre-ceremony calamity too. :)Thank you from the Swansons! <3
We went to Washington Island for the Lavender Festival and stayed at Hotel Washington. What a wonderful place to stay. It is so clean and the food was delicious. The owner, Jeannie couldn't have been nicer and she made you feel completely at home.

We love everything about the Hotel Washington! The upgrades to the hotel since it reopened are incredible and they retain the integrity and 100+ year history of the home. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable and include robes and eco-friendly soap, shampoo & conditioner. Both the chef and the baker are incredibly talented and we highly recommend making dinner reservations. On Saturday mornings they sell loaves of bread and many locals come to purchase them -- we tried all 5 kinds they were selling that specific Saturday and they were all amazing! The owner, Jeannie, is quite remarkable and very service-oriented! We <3 visiting the Hotel Washington and cannot wait to return in the fall!

The hotel is full of charm and its owner, Jeanie, is about as wonderful as they come. She was so accommodating to everyone and let us have the run of the hotel! Delicious breakfasts and the restaurant is great (serves dinner to nonguests as well as guests). Simple, comfortable rooms. Great beds!
One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Went there for the first time with my family last year and we had to return again this year. The service is fantastic, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself exudes charm and you can practically feel your blood pressure lower the minute you walk in the door.
The complimentary breakfast includes fresh rotating baked goods prepared by the staff and it's to die for.
To top it all off dinner at the farm-to-table restaurant, we all agreed, was one of the best meals we'd had all year.
The perfect place to stay while visiting Washington Island - and if you don't stay there do yourself a favor and at least have a meal at the restaurant.
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Washington while we were on the island for a wedding. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. They answered questions and gave us advice on where to find things. The room was beautiful and clean. The grounds are beautiful and we even met the owner. She was so kind and sweet. 10/10 recommend if you need a room on the island. We will be back!
Excellent food, wine, and service. Plenty of parking and excellent sunset views near the water. Can’t wait to eat and drink here again! We didn’t stay in the hotel this trip but would in the future.
Had dinner at Hotel Washington this evening. Most of Washinton Island was closed so being one of the few places open I wasn’t sure what to expect. What a great dining experience. The setting, the music the menu as well as the food was fantastic. They are soon to close for the season, but I loved every bite. Great service and attentiveness. So happy we came here. Can not wait for next season.
This is a much belated review but didn't want to let it go as we so LOVED our meal here! We visited the Island in July of 2020 so the Hotel wasn't open for guests do to Covid restrictions, but chef Matt and his crew created a delicious dinner for my parents 50th anniversary to feed 18 people as a take out meal. He worked with me weeks in advance to go over options and dietary needs. We had a few gluten-free so he had many yummy options. We landed on many of their delicious salads, so fresh and delicious combinations, loved the gluten free beef dish and many pizzas. The homemade ice creams were delicious! What an amazing place to have such fresh local food. Must visit again!!!!
Absolutely delicious food and peaceful scenery. We had the pork shoulder and crispy chicken, both of which we would highly recommend. Service was kind and attentive. We had a wonderful experience and will be back!
We absolutely loved our time spent at the hotel, it really has casual elegant summer camp vibes. We stayed 3 nights, had dinner and maybe a little too much wine at the hotel. Food was top notch, everything is extremely fresh and well seasoned. Loved the cheese plate and house made pickled veg. I could go on and on, staff was extraordinarily kind and helpful… lgbtq+ friendly, we love everything it’s got going on so much we’re getting married here next year!
Amazing, friendly staff, excellent food, and a beautiful patio. The portions are just right. The cornish hen is roasted to perfection. The braised pork belly is amazing.
One of the best meals I have ever enjoyed in one of the best places. Hard to believe the level of cooking here. Amazing ambience. Have stayed the night here in the past and loved every minute of it. You can tell everyone has a passion for food and hospitality. A true gem. Well done. Thanks again
What a wonderful inn, The historical hotel is totally North of the tension line! The owner friendly and very informative. Our room cozy , clean and comfortable for a B&B. Breakfast on the front porch was wonderful . Relaxing and definitely blood pressure lowering. No problems with shared bathrooms 4 in total. We totally are enjoying our stay
