This restaurant way exceeded our expectations! A local suggested the place when we asked where to eat. My wife has a bad gluten sensitivity, and she was thinking there was no way that they had gluten free options. Also the outside was kind of shabby looking, so we almost didn't go in, but we're so glad we did. They did have gluten free pasta, and we were assured the sauces were made from scratch and that none of them have wheat so she could choose any of them. We both got the fettuccine Alfredo, and it was the best we've had at a restaurant! It even came with a little cup of freshly grated partisan on the side- we both used all of it! Before we got our food we felt that the prices were kind of high, but after tasting the quality of the food and knowing that it's made from scratch, we definitely feel that the prices are reasonable! The wait staff was amazing. Our server was so patient and kind and she even let us use her cell phone when we mentioned that we have no service on Washington Island. So glad we ate here.
We’ve stayed on the island several times & We’ve had the best experiences at Karly’s
Lois is the sweetest and the best cook.
Tim is a character, makes a mean old fashion.
The food is outstanding especially their
Fried Chicken, home made coleslaw mash pots/ with gravy and yummy bread.
The staff is friendly

Always a great place for good food and good times!
Awesome place! Friendly bartenders and great food!
Stop there every year during our 10 day vacation to Door County. Great food and service. Cold beer too, especially when your on a bicycle.
Awesome, I can't wait to get back to the island and have dinner here again.
Karly's is great. Lois is the best cook on the Island. They grow a lot of their own fruits and vegetables. My favorites are shrimp linguini and fried chicken (on Thursday nights). <3
Great fried chicken family style dinner!
Best perch fish fry I have EVER had! I've been coming to your establishment since 1979! Wish I could take Lois home to cook for me!! ;=)
Server was friendly, food came fast. It was yummy - not the best ever by any means but still good stuff.
Highly recommend Karky's for lunch. Great burgers, yummy German potato salad and cold slaw. (Arrive before 2pm as that was when the kitchen closed the day we visited)
Bartender was awesome. Very friendly atmosphere. Great drinks. Would definitely go back again. A+++++ She made a custom margarita that was worth it.
Small town bar with good prime rib on Saturday. Down to earth friendly staff.
Oh my goodness!! Wasn’t expecting to find much open after 5 but oh my gosh am I so so glad I turned around and tried Karly’s out !! Sad they’d run out of walleye but oh my gosh the burger was absolutely fabulous and the waitress was excellent - attentive, kind and timely! Can’t say enough about the $11 burger and fries - gave her a 50 % tip - definitely worth the money and then some !! Beautiful experience and wondrous food and staff !
Our family dinned here on our first night on the island. The vibe is very casual, but the menu had a simple and yummy variety of items. The Bloody Mary had the right amount of kick, the burger was great and the kids enjoyed some shrimp linguini. I will say, that it took a while to get our entrees on what didn't seem like an overly busy Friday evening, however, we are not accustom to island time, which seems to operate a bit slower. Our server was lovely. We kept our littles busy walking loops of the area. We would certainly visit again and the locals also recommend them :)
An excellent place to eat on Washington Island. This was not our first choice, but the two other places we tried were closed. Mostly staffing issues, I think.
At Karly's Bar there was only one very busy and understandably frazzled server. However, she maintained a positive attitude and friendly demeanor in spite of being overworked. She took good care of her customers, and got our food to us quite quickly. The food was excellent.
If you find yourself on The Island on Top of The Door, you would not do wrong to stop for victuals here.
Fantastic fish and chips plus a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Had a great time.
The people were so nice. The food was so good. We went here after we road our bikes around the island. We were so hungry. They had a dog that we pet and played with. His name was Buck. And he looked like Buck from "Call Of The Wild". Cool place. No complaints whatsoever.
My grandma and I came here for a quick lunch after our ferry ride and we loved it! I was a little skeptical, as the outside looked a little beaten up, but I'm so glad we stopped in. The owner really is super kind, and the inside is adorable and cozy. I ordered the grilled ham and cheese with onion rings and it was amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly and even the ranch served with it all was great. It really felt like home cooking. And my grandma, who ordered the potato soup with cheese, could not stop talking about it! It was a great place to take a quick stop by, and it reminded me that little gems such as this place exist. I would very much recommend coming here.
Cutest place on the island. I had a4th of July all you can eat BBQ. It came with shrimp pasta salad, Greek salad, potatoes, roll, fruit salad, BBQ chickens, ribs and all sorts of desserts. Grandma was sitting by the desserts collecting money. The grand daughter was very nice and smiley. We had a great time. The BBQ were really good!!
One of the few bars I've been in where folks openly connect and chat throughout their visit. We met a lovely couple from Appleton whom we connected with nearly immediately. Was a great place to visit. Bartender was hilarious and a bit snarky which only added to the charm. A must stop type place.
Great burgers & very helpful with guidance on the local attractions!
