Greentown Tavern is one of the finest establishments in my hometown of Waukegan, IL. The Wisconsin Burger (Peanut Butter, Bacon, Pretzel Bun) is absolutely delicious & I highly recommend adding cheddar.

We were SO glad to find this place before going to a show at the Genesee Theater. The perch was yummy and I absolutely loved the Wisconsin burger. The chop salad was huge and we even had room for cupcakes from the local bakery. More than anything though we appreciated the friendly staff and fun neighborhood atmosphere.

We stopped here before a show at Genesee Theatre. What a great place. Our bartender/ server was really nice and very knowledgeable about the great assortment of beer. We ordered nachos and Italian beef. Both were delicious. We will definitely visit again next time we are in town!

The service is fun, timely and friendly. Had the Chopped Salad, YUMMY!!!! Big chunks of real cut bacon, large crumbles of Blue Cheese, lots of tender deliciously flavored tender chicken pieces, and more. Thank Urban Spoon for helping me find them. A new favorite everytime I'm in this area.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name. Comfortable. Feels like home. Very good, simple food for the money. On top of a downtown renasaissance in downtown Waukegan.

This place has amazing food and service and we can’t wait to get back. It is definitely a local favorite but the food is better than most places we go that are twice as expensive. We both had the Cod fish fry served with fries and homemade coleslaw which I could just eat that! I had Chicken Tortilla soup and my wife the Clam Chowder both were delicious. We had Cheese curds for an appetizer and the order was enough for 4 adults. Please give them a try!

What an incredible find. The Chicken Tortilla Soup was out of this world and the Pork Belly Tacos are even better.

We were in town for our sons graduation from Navy boot camp. We.got into town & checked into hotel and needed to find a place to eat dinner failry close to the Naval Station. We were looking for pub grub and found this place after.doing some online searching. The people there were super cool to us from the time we sat down and we felt right at home. I got a pint of beer from a local brewery on tap, wish I could remember what it was but it was good, my wife got some wine which was fine for her. We ordered the cheese curds app, they were tasty. I ordered the Italian beef sandwich w/provolone & fries, my wife ordered a Greek salad . My wife enjoyed her salad and took at least half back to the room. I haven't ever had an Italian beef sandwich before but knew what they are. It was a really good sandwich. Their Giardiniera was on the side but had just the right amount of spice that it went great on the sandwich. I would definitely eat that again. We stayed for their trivia and won a round and got a free breakfast . That Saturday our son shipped out basically in the middle of the night and our flight out was in the afternoon so we went back and had breakfast. When we arrived the staff remembered us and made us feel like regulars. I got a bloody Mary which came with a small beer chaser, my wife got a mimosa. we enjoyed both drinks. I got their corned beef hash, my wife got the French toast. They were both very good. The staff and people there really were super cool to us and we felt like we were in a place we belonged. If we are ever.back in the area we will return.

Went for dinner before seeing a show at the Genesee. Not a big place, so definitely get there early. Staff was definitely running, but it was a team effort and they got the job done. As did the bartender. Food was good bar food.

5+3🍀 Well, what can you say? This is a nifty little pub and eatery! 5+1 in my book. The young lady who served us, I believe her name was Joy, was amazing. She discussed the entire menu. Her conversational skills are extraordinary! She's a real class act that blends in well with customers and the establishment. Remember to leave her a nice tip! The fish fry, the cod especially, and the cream of shrimp soup was delicious. My monster burger was very tasty and done exactly as I requested. My granddaughters Italian beef was perfectly done with just the right amount of juice. My Coors light was very cold, just the way I like it. The decorum which was very inviting, dimly-lit, along with good music. The games were on the televisions, the conversations and interactions on a Friday night were in full bloom. I would recommend Green Town Tavern as a spot to eat, have a cocktail, and good conversation with friends. What are you waiting for? After all aren't shamrocks supposed to bring you good fortune? ☘️

Just found this Quaint little place as I was walking around one day. I had the Blue Burger and it was a spot hitter! Creamy blue cheese and good quality meat for a decent priced burger. Although they forgot the chips lol. I can't complain. Friendly and clean

Well a coworker suggested this place being the best burgers and mushroom and my he's right. Also heard this is a place for politics within Waukegan. Anyways was also amazed that the Amertto stone sour was a generous amount. Never experience having a glass and cost was about the same as a little glass they usually serve it. I had ordered the steak burger and for the price and how much Burger you get is very good I did not order french fries however I did order their mushrooms and the way they prepared and cooked it was delicious. There was not too much bread and the mushrooms were not small at all in some restaurants when it comes to bar food. Their steak burger was also worth the money for how much Burger you got for $12. Fridays they have a fish fry and I will probably come here on Friday for lunch they either have it in Pollock or in COD and I plan to order both to compare the taste. They also have shrimp but I'm not a big fan of fried shrimp nowadays. Anyways four stars for this hidden gem up in the north of a small town like Waukegan cause I didn't think there was any good to dine in until I discovered this

My wife and I came here on a relatively chill Saturday evening during the annual ArtWauk event. The place was probably about 30-40% full, and it seemed like maybe they had the bartender and just one server working. I think they probably could have used one more, but it's a minor complaint. The sttaff was friendly, beer was cold, and the bathrooms were clean. Good place to spend an hour or two.

The Green Town Tavern was intimate. They still had their St. Patrick's Day decorations up. The bartender was friendly. The price for for the appetizer sampler was quite reasonable. The mozzarella sticks were thick. My wife got a glass of Guinness, said that it was poured properly, and that it was a fair price at $4.

Food is great from burgers, wraps and clubs. Awesome beer selection on tap and bottles. Wait staff a tad bit slow but is to be expected especially if one is there to catch a concert down the road. Pricing is more than fair on everything. All in all a great place to stop in for a drink. Bar name itself is an homage to Waukegan's native son Ray Bradbury.

Usually; good food and standard table service would be enough to expect when dining out. Dave at Green Town Tavern in Waukegan really went the extra mile. He gave me 50 cents to feed the parking meter (I never have change), but he also provided a straw for my drink. Since I was an out-of-towner, he didn't want to shock me with their recent no straw policy. Folks in this area are incredibly friendly and helpful! The sirloin burger with fried egg and Swiss was delicious and perfectly prepared.
