So Much Fun!. This is really what you look for in a traditional, family owned Mexican restaurant. Somewhat strangely located in a Victorian-themed strip of businesses, El Abuelo certainly stands out. The interior is roomy and festively decorated with spanish soap operas playing on a TV overhead. The owners really went out of their way to come by the table a couple of times during the visit to make sure everything was good. The food! So good! I had the chicken asada, grilled with some kind of awesome spicy marinade that made the meat a delicious orangy color with lots of flame-grill marks with some of the tastiest golden fluffy spanish rice I've had and plenty of refried beans with melted cheese and lots of fresh corn chips to scoop them up with.
We had a wonderful time and will doubtless be back soon!
Excellent food! Authentic, fresh, ingredients! Love the cabbage Pico de Gallo! Yummy!
