Funny chefs, amazing fish, friendly staff. I've been coming here since I was 15, which is for over 18 years. As a guy who has tried a lot of sushi, you just can't beat it.

We just found our new go-to sushi spot! My husband and I are both big sushi lovers, but we are very particular and with very different preferences. This place had everything you could want. There is a nice variety, but the menu isn’t overwhelming. The service is efficient without being hurried. The chefs are all friendly. We noticed a nice mix of regulars and newcomers. The atmosphere is relaxed and not too noisy. The only problem I noticed is parking is a bit scarce. Really not a big deal though.

This restaurant has the best sushi in LA and almost in the whole country. I am a serious foodie and I’ve never tasted something here that I didn’t like. The sushi & sashimi m is made very fresh and the whole atmosphere is wonderful here. The sushi chefs smile and joke with you and it was a wonderful experience coming here. The only problem is once you eat here you won’t be able to eat at most sushi places anymore. This place is top notch

I've been coming to Sushi Gesshin with my family for 10+ years. The bento boxes and sushi has always been delicious and consistent. I'm glad to see them staying strong during the pandemic! I'd recommend coming here if you are craving Japanese food.

This place is a hidden gem! Sashimi is FRESH. Everything we got was delicious, soft, but not mushy, and you could taste the flavor of each fish. I left wanting more, but was so full! Thank you for an amazing experience for my taste buds Will definitely be coming back Still thinking about it days later....!

I've been coming here to Gesshin for over 18 years and the food has been consistently good for all those years. One of Huntington Beach best kept secret. We really don't like sharing it. The environment is intimate and friendly. The sushi served here is always fresh and prepared well. The menu is the usual stuff you would find in other sushi restaurants but not the quality and service. It's hard to pick any one thing as a favorite because everything is pretty good.. really. The food look like the pictures on the menu. They offer combo plates both for lunch and dinner. One more thing that can't be beat is the price. They have a great lunch special daily.. but hurry because lunch ends at 2pm. Don't worry they open again at 5pm. Some nights are busier than others, however the wait isn't too long. If you are really hungry and can't wait, you can also enjoy the sushi bar... There is usually a spot waiting for you. It's one of the rare places where you can come alone or with a small group... But it's ideal for 2. They don't serve hard liquor but they do have beer and plum wine along with sake. The atmosphere is very relaxed and not rushed even when busy. I definitely give then all 5 stars and they more than deserve it.

My mother in law was from Okinawa and this was her favorite sushi restaurant. We used to come with her when we were newlyweds and now we bring our adult kids. The fish is always very fresh and the service very friendly and capable. I've never had a bad meal here.

This is hands down my favorite sushi place. I have been coming here for around 10 years. I have yet to find somewhere I prefer better and always end up coming back here. The food is always fresh, I have been given complimentary edamame while waiting for my food and the atmosphere is great. The service is always amazing and friendly. I definitely recommend giving this place a try of you haven't already.

I ate here alone at the sushi bar. The chef was incredibly nice and very generous. He gave me several free samples on the house. This is some of the freshest sushi you can find anywhere! Will definitely come here again.

Sushi Gesshin is one of my favorite sushi places in Orange County. The food is really good and if you want a soda they give you a can and an ice cup which you can fill up twice which is a pretty good deal. The service is also good. They let me and my 16 year old sister get kids meals even though they are for young kids which was really boss. They didn't give us our yogurt drinks after which made me a bit mad, but they had a good assortment of mints at the end which secured me a five star rating for this resturant. Enjoy!

This is by far the best place to get sushi in Orange County. The cuts are always fresh and the prices are nice. We have been eating here for years and every time we try a new place, this is the benchmark. The service is excellent and friendly!

Being in the mood for sushi and tempura, we decided to check this place out since it's so close. It was casual, not too busy or loud. The food and decor were great. We ordered the mixed tempura (2 shrimp and veggies) for an appetizer, Philadelphia, Crunch, and Eel Avocado rolls. The food was fresh and made to order, not sitting around waiting, like some buffet places. The tempura was crispy and hot out of the oil, very tasty. I don't salmon, so I picked that out of the Philadelphia and gave it to the daughter. She in turn took the fish eggs off the top of the roll, but over all very good. The Crunch roll was delicious and fresh. The rice wasn't too sticky so it kept falling apart, but that's part of the fun of eating with chopsticks. Avocado makes almost anything better, but added to the Dragon roll and it was fantastic. The itamae, or sushi chefs, at the bar were personable and seemed to know and remember the customers sitting there. They were chatting away like old friends. That's great to see because that means there is customer loyalty, which wouldn't happen at an inferior restaurant or between bad employees and returning customers. (You know what I mean?!) 3 rolls plus the tempura was a bit much for the 2 of us (too bad they don't make half rolls), so we have leftovers for tomorrow. But if they did make half rolls, I'm pretty sure we'd still order too much, wanting to try everything out. The sever was very attentive and even gave us some extra ginger and wasabi for our to go box. We will definitely be coming back to try more on the menu.
