As manager of Williamsburg's finest boutique bed and breakfast- one applauded for our food and attention to service- I know what it takes to make a difference with each And every detail. I'm also lucky to have traveled my whole life- mostly in search of great food on 5 continents- and a good food loving resident of NYC. Cochon on 2nd is not only one of the reasons I feel so comfortable in this area- but it's where we send our guests. My suggestion is that you sit at the bar first, with an elderflower martini and the excellent witty company of the bartenders. (Shout out to you, Shawna- love you!). Whether you then eat at the bar or sit at a table with super comfy but shaker simple handmade wood spindle back chairs, take time to notice owner Neil's meticulous attention to every visual detail. Loosely Inspired by casual friendly farm to table lifestyle, he has found artisans and craftsmen to realize a warm dreamy open kitchen restaurant-scape with lofty ceilings, dark stained pallet like wall treatments, warm giant glowing jute colored barreled pendant lamps and of course the stainless steel of the open kitchen sending wave after wave of seductive aromas. You won't want to leave without trying the ribs- among the best finger lickers I've ever found- and the troufee; a perfectly seasoned pate with balsamic reduction glaze. When you come to Williamsburg, come for the hospitality, the beauty, the history and cochon on 2nd. Stay with Liberty Rose B&B and we will make your reservation for you.
Recently made first visit to Cochon for lunch with friends. How impressed was I? Returned that night with my wife for dinner! Atmosphere is "modern European"--unique to Williamsburg with a great feel. Food is beautifully presented and all the dishes I had that day were exceptionally good. Based on what we had, I can recommend any of the salads; the Fire Shrimp; fire-roasted corn chowder; and scallops. No doubt everything on menu would be equally good. Neil, the owner/head chef, is on top of everything going on--stopping by during dinner several times to check on us and talk with us about the restaurant and his goal. Trust me: Neil knows what it takes to be a success. If you don't feel like a full dinner, highly recommend you take a table in the bar and have apps or light dishes with wine or a drink. High top was decorated with candle; flowers and table cloth. Overall a first class experience. Cochon is now at top of our list for restaurants in Williamsburg. Let me add Melissa was the wait person for both lunch and dinner and delivered highly attentive and friendly service. Get to Cochon on 2nd Street soon for a special dining experience!
My girlfriend and I have made dining here a tradition and recently went for our anniversary. Upscale dining worth every penny. The food is always amazing, especially their potatoes au gratin, probably the best steak you’ll ever have too. The staff is amazing as well, very friendly, knowledgeable, and able to make great recommendations. If you visit Williamsburg and want the best food around, Cochon is the place to go.
We discovered Cochon while visiting Williamsburg. It's a beautiful space, simple and chic. We were seated promptly and enjoyed bantering with our server as we explored the various drinks on the martini menu. We enjoyed speaking with the owner and the open kitchen and all of the wonderful aromas added to the experience. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and the scallops were delicious. The vanilla creme brûlée was the perfect finish. Glad we found this place and will happily return when back in town.
Oh my goodness, how has this incredible place been hidden from me? Just go there for lunch, dinner, any and every occasion. Warm, friendly staff, excellent service and the most amazing food I’ve eaten in town.
We just finished our dinner for Valentine's Day and the meal was awesome! One if the best if not the best steak I have ever eaten!!!
Impromptu date night. One of those come on let's go and see where we end up. As it turned out we landed at Cochon and what a wonderful night we had. From a warm greeting from the hostess and our server Kevin Irish. Neil greeted us with a warm heart and explained his specials for the night.
After short deliberation Vickie decided on the crab cake salad and I chose the angus steak salad. Paired with the Genesis merlot made for a great flavor combination for both dishes. Terrific and so filling we had no room for dessert.
Highly recommended for food quality, hospitality, atmosphere, wine selection and overall value.
Cheers!

If I could give Cochon on 2nd more stars, I would. I made a reservation for this past Sat evening and mentioned it was for my son's 10th birthday. They called to not only confirm our reservation but to also ask for his name. As soon as we walked in, the hostess and waitstaff made him feel like a superstar. He was given an special menu with his name and bday wishes printed on it. The meal was phenomenal and the service was stellar. After the meal, the staff signed his menu and he brought it home. Thank you for making a little "foodie" feel like a big deal. We'll be returning.
Absolute perfection! 40 day dry aged filet, definitely in the top 3steaks I’ve ever had. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They never fail to provide a superior meal!
My husband and I experienced this lovely establishment for the first time while we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed. The staff was simply delightful and we enjoyed the open kitchen atmosphere which allowed us to observe the attentiveness of the chef while he carefully prepared our food. Absolutely delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant to you and your family and friends.
Dinner here was fantastic! We had for appetizers the Tuna Tartare, Moody’s sticky ribs and the Scallops with risotto. Main course was the Berkshire Bone in chop and the Duck in Fig port reduction. Dessert was white chocolate bread pudding and chocolate pate. I can honestly say every course was fabulous. The staff and especially the Chef were warm and friendly. You can tell how much love they put into preparing each dish. We can’t wait to go back and try everything else!
We had dinner with friends at the bar. Staff was knowledgeable about the food, wine and bourbon. The pate' was addictive, the steak was perfectly grilled, and potato gratin was rich and oozing with flavors and cheese. The chef/owner shared his journey to build and open the restaurant, which made us appreciate the time there even more. We will return to Couchon!
My steak was cooked to absolute perfection. The staff was incredibly professional and friendly. The chocolate pate with the vanilla brûlée...I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it was. Will definitely come back here next time we visit.
We had dinner at Cochon on 2nd on a busy Saturday evening this month. The experience was terrific! We had the sticky ribs for an appetizer. They had a nice Asian glaze on them, were meaty and very delicious. The wine list offered a variety of choices that were quite good. The entrees that my wife and I had were both delicious...I had salmon and she had a chicken/pasta dish. Both were perfectly cooked - portion sizes are just right as well.
For dessert, I had the bread pudding and the Mrs. had the chocolate mouse. Both were amazing! We will definitely return in the near future.
My husband and I enjoyed a perfectly delightful lunch at Cochon today. We had the ribs, oyster salad, burger, creme brulee, and chocolate mousse (over 65% chocolate). EVERYTHING was perfect. The meat on the ribs was incredibly moist and the sauce was out of this world. It's hard to pick.a favorite item! The owner spoke with us as well as the rest of the guests. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The portions were generous. We will absolutely be back. Highly recommend you try ;)
