I really enjoy Port Land Grille. I've visited quite a few times now and have ordered all over the menu. It's delicious, artistically executed, and very flavorful. The last time I went, the wait was long and the service wasn't great. Without me saying anything, our waitress made it right and took care us and I left completely satisfied!! That's humility and honoring your guests.
Superb food. Had the first soft shell crabs of the season at Port Land Grille. No one does them better than Chef Shawn. Consistently delicious and ALWAYS fresh food, professional staff and service, and owners who strive to make all their patrons happy. Love dining here.
Chef Shawn and his staff never fail to serve the very Best, Freshest and well presented food in our entire Region! By far, my favorite 'dress up' and special day place for delicious dinner!
Had dinner at Port Land Grille and it was terrific as always. If you have a date, make them take you here.
A great place to get a little dressed up and eat some delicious food.
Best in town. Sit at the bar for a more casual experience.
Nice menu.... This was our 2nd visit to Port Land Grille...charcuterie plate for appetizer, soft shell crab for entree (me) and halibut (hubby.) The char plate was quite nice with a country pate duck terrine, pimento cheese, ham?, sopresatta, and smoked sausage. It was a good, warm weather starter that we were able to enjoy and also take home. I am a sucker for soft shell crab and this was the best prep I have had in the city; light batter with an amazing truffle grit and collard side...hubby's halibut was also quite yummy with a spinach and spring risotto side on a light tomato broth. For dessert we shared the vanilla panna cotta with lemon pound cake (way better than the coconut cake we had last time.) We had an amazing viognier as well. I definitely think the atmosphere should be little more upscale, but the food is fabulous.

Another great meal! Appetizers of smooth pate (yummy) and clams casino (good, but would have been better if the bacon pieces were smaller-they overpowered the clams.) This was also the first time we ordered something other than fish for an entree: I had the pekin duck (the duck was lean and cooked well. The sides of black rice and red cabbage were delicious and interesting.) Hubby had the antelope-it was really tender and tasty. His sides of sweet potato and brussels sprouts were a nice addition. My only complaint would be that our server ruined the pace of the meal by taking our appetizer plates, while we were still eating them saying "the entrees were on their way out." We sat there 10 minutes before they made it to the table.
Excellent. A wonderful evening and a wonderful meal. The food was outstanding. The menu innovative. Good wine list. Great desserts. Do yourself a favor and go to this one.

I've only been there 3 times and everytime it's been outstanding! The food is so delicious and has such unique flavors! They have a large wine selection, and the menu has all different types of food! My favorite two entrees I've had was the halibut with a tomato risotto and beef tenderloin with lobster butter! Their tuna tartare starter is amazing as well! Definitely recommend for a date night, a family dinner, or if you're just visiting the area!
This was our first time visiting and I have to say I’m very impressed with this restaurant. Food was phenomenal and their service was excellent l. Mr Calvin was such a darling! He made us feel at home. He took his time and explained dishes we were interested in. The food was served fresh and in a perfect timely manner. I highly recommend and we will definitely be back.
This place has been important to my family for years. My first visit was for my aunt and uncle's wedding reception more than 15 years ago. I returned many times over the years to enjoy the fantastic food and even better service. This past year, I decided to have my own wedding reception here. The food is great but it is the service that keeps me and my family coming back. Its as well run as any place I have ever been and it shows up in the little things, the details. I was just there again a couple of weeks ago and I cant wait until next time!
This restaurant has a very nice outdoor area. We got there when it was light out and finished up when it was dark & all the decorative lights were on. It was a really nice atmosphere. 5 stars there. The food was a mixed bag. If I was scoring just on the steak and salads it would be 5 stars. We got the "STEAK KNIFE SOUTHERN WEDGE SALAD” and the "FARMER'S MARKET" SALAD. Both were delicious. For our entrees we got the USDA PRIME ANGUS BEEF RIB EYE STEAK 16 0z with the buttermilk-chive mashed potatoes, drunken mushrooms with sautéed spinach, pink peppercorn-horseradish crème option and the Pan-seared NC GROUPER with the ~ shrimp & crawfish succotash, Southern style stone-ground grits, pimento cheese butter option. The steak was an outstanding cut of meat, seasoned and cooked perfect. The mashed potatoes were lackluster. Seems like they needed more butter, salt and cream. The mushrooms and spinach were delicious. As for the grouper, the piece of fish came out not all in one piece. There was a large part on the edge of the bowl and over cooked.(see my pics) It was seasoned well but kinda disappointing. The grits were clumpy/dry. The succotash had one shrimp and I did not see any crawfish. I could have done without the grits and succotash. Just not executed very well.
As for the service our waitress was extremely nice but the service was not very good. We ordered an unsweet tea and an old fashion mixed drink. The old fashion took a while to come out. The tea came out sweet the first go around. During the meal I ended up with no tea and waited for a refill a couple times. The wait for our entrees after the salads was way to long. From the time we sat down, ordered, had our salads and then received our entrees one hour 15min had gone by. We sat at 6:30. We finished our meal with no dessert at 8:10pm. Everything just seemed very slow. We enjoyed the atmosphere so it was not a big deal but not ideal. I would go back and try it again but probably make different choices.
Finally! My husband and I, made it out here “Saturday Night” after so many attempts of planning. It was a last-minute plan to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and it is worth it we came. The food is spectacular ~ 5 ⭐️ all the way! 💯
The food and smells of a wood fire grill bring back memories. Great job guys! We will be back for sure!

We took our dog to a blessing of the animals service and afterwards decided to enjoy dinner outside at Portland. The staff was so gracious with us having our poodle at dinner! Brought us water in a to go container for him! The food was delicious! We had baked oysters and the crab cake over limas!
Perfectly grilled to medium rare ribeyes, thoroughly seasoned and extremely tender. Uniquely paired with lobster butter and the classic grilled asparagus and smashed fingerling potatoes. Great indoor and outdoor atmosphere and excellent service. Very memorable place.
Fabulous in every way. Service by Calvin & Adrienne was flawless---friendly, knowledgeable & not hurried at all. Food was prepared and plated with full attention to detail. Chilean Sea Bass ordered by both of us----but 2 different yet equally delicious preparations. Dessert of chocolate chess pie and coconut cake was Heavenly! And if you love wine and cocktails, you cannot beat their wine, liquor and cordial list. Our 1st visit on a friend's recommendation & we will be back for sure!
I forgot to make a post for this restaurant, I came here to celebrate my birthday around 9 months ago. I made a reservation, and when I walked inside, everyone was so friendly I got many compliments on my dress. I decided that I wanted to sit outside since the weather was lovely, but there was too many flies (not the restaurant fault of course) and I didn't want to risk one flying onto my food so eventually I asked to be moved inside. The "Vietnamese Style" Wagu Beef Meatballs with Peanut noodles wasn't that good.. I felt bad for asking for something else (I ended up getting the egg rolls, I ate it too quickly so I don't have any photos but I recommend that!) And my waiter was very accommodating, he apologized and I apologized back because I didn't want to offend anyone. I also got the duck, coconut rice, red cabbage, wild boar sausage, and broccoli as the main dish. I enjoyed it a lot. It was my first time trying duck, and I didn't get any dessert, but my overall experience was pleasant for my first time at Port Land Grille, I would come back again.
Delicious food.. service was awesome. Well the second time was just as good or better then the first. The steak was like butter. I just loved the peach bread pudding which was new on the menu.. service was great!!
