This location is by far the best El Cerro in town!! The food is wonderful and the staff is even better. Junior especially makes sure my experience is excellent he is the best!! I love this place and the people!! I won't go to any other El Cerro!
This is my favorite mexican resturaunt! I have been coming here with my family for many years! They treat us like family every time we are there! All this on top of the best mexican food in town!!!
El Cerro is our family's favorite restaurant in Wilmington. We celebrate family birthdays here and dine here with friends regularly. The food is fantastic and, without a doubt, the margaritas and Dos Equis (on tap) are the best in town. The experience we have here on a regular basis is second to none! We love El Cerro Grande!

Without a doubt, the best Mexican food in the area. Started eating here when they were in the building that is now Indochine and the other when it was in the Galleria at Wrightsville beach.
Been coming here for many years now and the staff is always so nice and the food is always consistent and you never have to wait long for your meal. I highly recommend it
This is one of my favorite restaurants in town! The food is fantastic, the service is always quick and on point, and the staff is interactive and makes it a fun experience! Sometimes I go over my lunch hour and I never feel rushed or have any trouble getting back to work on time. I have been going here for years and don't see myself stopping anytime soon!

El Cerro Grande at Monkey Junction is our favorite Mexican restaurant. Love the food especially the queso and chips. LOL! We eat there almost every weekend. My favorite dish is the chicken chimihangas. We love all the waiters and waitresses. We've been so much they already know what we drink and eat.

They make goooood margaritas. Service is consistently polite. Clean, busy and fast-moving restaurant. Family friendly. Their chips, queso and salsa are very good. The Burrito Diablo and Burrito Supreme are our favorites. The Fajita Salad was fresh and made beautifully--more chicken would have been nice. Their mexican rice goes so well with everything we order extra. In the more than 10 years dining here, this place has never disappointed us.
Arrived on a busy Friday evening. Short wait. Huge draft of negra modelo, El Cerro Enchiladas and Chori-Pollo! Absolutely delicious and affordable! Yummmm!!
First time dining at this hidden gem, but not the last. Quickly greeted and seated, waitress was over within a few minutes to take our order. The food was fresh and hot. My new favorite place to eat fish tacos!!
We went on a weekend and there was not a long waiting list, we were served quickly and the food arrived on time. Our table was clean, our waiter was very friendly despite the fact that there were people, he took great care of us.The dishes have more than enough food. The truth is that he is very satisfied with the portions, although almost everything we ordered lacked a bit of seasoning. (Salt). Good presentation, good flavor and the prices are according to the Range.
This food was amazing. Honestly the best Mexican we have ever had. The service was right on par. If you are in the area and want some Mexican food, there is no other choice. Everything we had was awesome! Even the kids smiley fries had a nice crunch to them. Take my advice, go here, eat a lot, and enjoy yourself! You are welcome!
Staff was very friendly and we got seated quickly. The food was very good and their green and red hot sauces were really great. A little hard to see the sign but glad we found them. And the prices were reasonable.

The food was very delicious. It's worth driving for 15 minutes. My son and I had a very good time at the restaurant. The soup and tacos were great choices. My son finished his plate too. Nice ambiance with a great service. I will definitely go back for authentic Mexican food.

If it's not a busy time you might wonder where the restaurant is and whether they're open, but curb appeal is not what draws the locals. Inside, the pleasing interior and properly curated Latin music welcome guests to the type of authentic Mexican-American experience that tourists only find if they're lucky. Great food? Yes. See pictured fajitas, steak & shrimp platter, and flan for two. Proper queso? Oh, yes. And portioned just right for two people. All the right beers are on tap, and served in a beer mug so massive my usually grumpy Brit is genuinely satisfied. As for the margaritas, let me say that only the experienced drinker is up for the large size. Get a medium (pictured next to my *wallet*) if you have the luxury to leave inebriated. Otherwise, ask for something small. And don't forget we're now adding 5% to our regular tip to help wait staff through Covid.
We ate here this evening for an early dinner and it was amazing! The staff is very nice and was very prompt and professional. All of our food was prepared quickly and was delicious. I highly recommend the special dinner and split it with someone. Also the fried ice cream is wonderful. We will definitely be going back soon.
My family loves El Cerro Grande. The prices are reasonable and the food is always delicious. They have very friendly service and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They have the best margaritas I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
Eating here is always a great experience. The food is amazing the people are friendly and full of smiles. I wish I lived closer so I could attend more often.

Our waitress was awesome! The food was incredibly good and always is. I've been coming to El Cerro grande for years and years. It is some of the best and most affordable Mexican food in town. I definitely would recommend this place and will be back again! The chile rellenos here are so good! 😋🔥
With that being said, I got a gift card that said it was good at multiple locations including this monkey junction El Cerro grande. But when I went to pay the gift card, it wouldn't go through so I had to end up paying with my debit card. I had planned on using the gift card, so it was a bit of a bummer, but their system literally could not ring the card up. Not their fault but beware of these gift cards, they don't work at this location.
First time eating here and I'm so happy and satisfied. I had the shrimp tacos and they were delicious. Hubby had the Camrones El Diablo dish and he was satisfied too. Our server was kind and attentive. Great atmosphere. Full service bar. Frozen drinks, beers, etc. I'll be back for sure when I come back to visit Wilmington. Thank you for the pleasurable authentic Mexican food.
