Omggggg I had the catfish and grits with the red sauce last night..........heaven on a plate! I also ordered the Chef’s special for the night, the seafood gumbo with salmon, and ate it for lunch today.....absolute nirvana! Great food!! Good service (not great because I had to alert the hostess that my daughter and I had been seated for 5 minutes and had not been greeted by our waitress)! Good atmosphere (not great because it was a little chilly). I recommend Sweet Potatoes as a must visit and eat, and will definitely visit again!
That bread pudding was more than 5 star!! My dinner on the wonderful patio was awesome. Fried oysters on salad. We had the small sweet potatoe cornbread and it was sooo good. The uptown Cosmopolitan was the best in this city hands down. Loved everything esp our waiter he was spot on. The fried chicken best i have ever tried.

The food at Sweet Potatoes is simply outstanding! The eating experience is complemented by the warm and inclusive environment made by the restaurants dedicated staff and the family-style atmosphere made possible by their customers. I've had wonderful conversations with complete strangers at the community table that were engaging, open, insightful, and fun. If you are visiting Winston Salem, Sweet Potatoes is a must experience culinary and cultural delight.
We are still talking about our meal a week later. The cobbler was on point. That salmon dish was awesome.

Dropped in for brunch today and I am so glad we did! We weren't alone too the first to get in this morning at 10:30am. We were promptly seated and given menus. We enjoyed an ample cup of coffee while waiting for our appetizer and entrees to be brought out. We enjoyed the loaded pork skins. I am NOT a fan of pork rinds/skins, but let me tell you I ENJOYED these so much. Cheese, jalapeños, bacon, BBQ sauce, tomatoes and onions all resting atop pork skins...YUM!! Since we ordered the appetizer, our main entrees did get a bit lost in the rush on the kitchen but we didn't mind as we had those skins to eat!! :) Everyone was very attentive with refilling our coffee and our water. Our waitress made sure we knew what had happened, which we were appreciative of the information. My dining partner had the Uptown Oysters Benedict with a grits side and I had the Sweet Potato Waffles, with apple marmalade, ginger/honey butter and chicken tenders and a side of sausage. All of which was EXTREMELY delicious! If you enjoy grits, these are some of the best and creamiest we have tasted! The sausage was grilled on an open flame and had a smokiness which I have not had with sausage patties and it really added something to it! Long and short, you will not be disappointed in Sweet Potatoes. I do suggest getting there early OR during an "off time" of the day.
Great service with some of the best southern food you can find. Don’t leave without having dessert. Best fried chicken livers I’ve ever had.
I have had the opportunity to dine here several times and each time has been Great! The turkey burger and the Sweet Potato pie, WOW. A wonderful place to dine when in the Winston-Salem area.
Food was great and the service was superb. Would recommend this place

Excellent food, excellent service! While on business trip, had dinner to include Catfish Nola, Fried Green Tomatoes & Okra basket, and Lemon Chess Pie. So impressed, had to go back for a quick lunch the following week and had chicken salad and of course, okra again. All excellent!
One of the highlights of my trip to the 2017 National Black Theater Festival was having Sunday Brunch at Sweet Potatoes, with W-S Family, Claude and Denise Little. From the warm welcome of, Deborah, to the exceptional food and service this place is definitely one of my Favorites! Miss Ora's too. Keep up the wonderful service 👏🏾❤️🌈

My husband and I absolutely love this place. There will always be a wait so please be patient. The food is fantastic and the staff are delightful too. You will not be disappointed!
