Found this gem while looking for a place to grab lunch in the downtown Winter Garden area. So glad we did! Pictured: tamales and burrito loco (with carnitas as the protein). Their salsa bar has a lot of great options for add-ons: grilled onions, sour cream, cheese, multiple salsas, cilantro, grilled whole jalepenos, limes, and more!). Plus, everything on the salsa bar is free! And, most importantly, our food was delicious. Will be back!
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. We have eaten at the marketplace in Winter garden several times and each time continue to be impressed. The tacos that we had were well-prepared and came out very quickly. They do have a salsa bar as well as a Tuesday special which includes chips and nacho cheese to dip them into. It was more of a white queso than a nacho cheese though. We had the carne asada, al pastor, and chicken tacos. all were very good and you have your choice of both flour or corn tortillas. I enjoyed this very much and will definitely be back. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked and they kept the salsa bar and tables clean as well. They have both indoor and outdoor seating
My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible
So my wife, brother in law, and were in the mood for tacos and we wanted to try this new local spot. So glad we did because the experience was pretty incredible.
Process: This is not your sit down and order spot. The main entree is tacos in addition to some other typical Mexican option. Walk to the counter, look at the menu, order what you like, pay for it right away and wait at your table. We waited only about 5 minutes until we got our food.
Pricing: My wife and I ordered the 4 Locos Taco deal and 2 beers and it came out to $21. Not too shabby for a lunch for two.
Food: Ingredients tasted super fresh and the seasoning was on point. The condiment bar was also just as fresh. Quality was super high.
Quantity: These are not your normal Taco Bell tacos. Not only is the quality high, but they are pretty good quantity. I ordered the shrimp tacos and was pleasantly surprised at the number of shrimp in the tacos. With just 2 tacos, I was comfortably full.
Service: The young woman who took our order at the front as well the woman that came and took our plates away were friendly and attentive.
Not sure if this is a family owned restaurant but if it is it would just be the icing on the cake. This is a top notch local taco spot and we will be back!!!
The atmosphere is very nice and staff are friendly. We had 3 fried tacos, 4 Locos Taco Special (2 chicken, 2 barbacoa) and Locos Nachos. Barbacoa tacos taste better than the chicken and the fried tacos was really good love the crunchiness.
Nachos was also good next time I'll add more toppings. We enjoyed meal and plan to come back for more.
Tacos were good large corn tortillas with meat selection. Meat was fresh and super tasty. You pick toppings from the bar. It is a nice upscaleish place for mid year pricing. Go into it expecting fresh ingredients coming to your table with meat only(for tacos) you add the rest.
Decent mexican food for the region, though a bit pricey. We had the tacos and they come out street-style (half-sized tortillas). We tried asada and barbacoa. The asada was very good, while the barbacoa pailed by comparison. They do have a salsa and toppings bar; their salsas are not hot, but their roasted jalapenos are! The ambience is a bit crowded, flamboyant, and festive. I was also confused at first because I thought the place was upstairs (near their wall sign); its actually downstairs, on the 1st floor.
Good food and clean decor.
Nothing extraordinary or authentic but over good.
I was able to order several items from their menu and they are very consistent.
Tried the Al pastor and steak tacos. Flavors were good. They give you the tacos with just meat, and then you put whatever you want from the topping bar which I love. In this picture I smoothered it with pineapple salsa and green salsa.
I've been looking for a good taco spot for a while in FL. This definitely met my expectations. With the authentic taste and feel of the place. My only complaint is I wish the tacos came with the onions & cilantro already on them like other authentic taquerias I've been too. Other than that the place is great they have a little condiment station so you can put on all the stuff yourself such as sour cream, salsas, etc... I've been to cheaper taquerias with better prices and food but eh this place will suffice 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Great Taco's, can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Can't beat a Crooked Can beer in one hand and a taco in the other under the old oak trees of downtown Winter Garden. I just had to ding a star because places like Don Ramones and La Perla have spoiled me rotten with quality/cost ratio, but this is still far better than your average taco joint. I hope they stick around for years to come.
Eat here!!!!! If you are at the crooked can and hungry get your butt up and walk across the street and eat these tacos! They come will corn tortillas but you can order flour tortillas. They even will make you a salad if you want. The pork is the best meat for the tacos its mild and not spicy. So worth the walk!!!!
