We were there last night for our Christmas dinner. We had a WONDERFUL time! The food and atmosphere was great, the serving sizes were big.. but our server Wayne is what made it so special! He was fantastic!! He went the extra mile, even to the point of brewing a separate cup of tea for my husband who wanted iced tea after none was left.. Wow. He was personable, professional, and knowledgeable. Probably the best server we've ever had. And that is coming from a former server of many years. Thank you for making our Christmas so special! We will be back!! Many blessings to you all!!
The service and the food was excellent. To finish the meal off we a fantastic brownie with ice cream desert, bake at the restaurant. Highly recommend First Post.
I have been a consistent diner at First Post since they opened...always top notch service, consistently amazing dishes and beautifully crafted cocktails! Not to mention, the decor and ambiance is on point! Love this place!

The most fabulous meal I’ve ever had anywhere in York county. The scallops with butternut squash purée was out of this world and our steaks melted like butter in your mouth. A bit on the pricier side but well worth it!
Since the day they opened, TheFirstPost has been my favorite place to eat and drink. Upscale variety of wines and drinks and the food is amazing. Beautiful decor and welcoming staff - can’t ask for much more than that!
Saturday evening at 5:15 expected a long wait for a party of 4. Wait time was less than 5 mins. Great food and the waiter Jules made it a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend it. Will visit again soon.
The First Post is a huge, sprawling tavern with an interesting menu for a wide variety of tastes. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
Pat and I had the Scotch Eggs for starters and we enjoyed them very much. I had a very tasty Gyro Wrap for the main course and Pat enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Salad.
Parking the car is a bit problematic but if you pay attention you'll be fine.
Last evening was my first time at The First Post. What a fantastic experince! While my bestie and I were waiting for our table, we sat at the bar to enjoy a drink. We enjoyed the atmosphere at the bar so much, we gave up our table when it was ready.
A special shout out to Keith, my favorite bartender (they were all great, btw). He made us our own special drink that was perfectly mixed. He made sure we were taken care of the entire evening. His level of customer service was refreshing. One of the best evenings out I've had in a long time. We will definitely be back.🍸🍸
Came here for a rehearsal dinner and the staff were amazing and as well the food was delicious. It's definitely worth checking out.
Elegant food with precious presentation, and delicious too. Portions were perfect for the price. The staff was very accommodating and kept us informed during our wait time.

Had a very nice after-Christmas lunch. The cream of crab soup is outstanding as was the lobster roll. The waitress was friendly and efficient, but she did not rush us
Hugh shout out to the chef and our waiter Chris!!! We received an old Brunch menu and our daughter saw the chocolate pancakes and unfortunately they did not have them, yet the chef came out and asked our daughter if she truly wanted them he would make them!!! Needless to say our daughter had the best chocolate chip pancakes ever!!! Thank you for putting the biggest smile on our daughter’s face!!!
Exceptional! Fine service, food and beverages. We just celebrated my birthday there last night. They were very accommodating and everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. We'll be going back! 👍👍
Surf & Turf was outstanding! PERFECTLY cooked lobster tail...... YUMMY! Our server Eric was great too. Only thing is they need to put a Lobster only entree on menu!! First time here & cant wait to return

My husband and I came for a late dinner to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We have been told by several friends to check out the first post, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the drinks were great ( I had a cucumber mule, and my husband got the house lager), and we shared a slice of red velvet cheesecake. We'll definitely be coming back.

Very good atmosphere. Our waiter Wayne was the best Waiter I EVER had. He was very polite and friendly and kept my family laughing all night. He even took a picture for us with my phone, and then took a selfie of himself for enjoyment. We will be coming back, because of him. Thank you

The First Post in East York is a fabulous renovation of three buildings whose facades were kept but refurbished; the interior is amazing, food excellent and reasonably priced, and service and ambiance delightful. A minor glitch with one entree was instantly and graciously rectified and I am looking forward with pleasure to my next visit.
My daughter took me here for lunch. It was amazing. We were seated upstairs. I ordered the French onion soup and the steak sandwhich. My daughter ordered scotch eggs and the crab cakes. Our service was fast, attentive and more then courteous. Our food was the perfect temperature, perfect presentation and delicious. Highly recommend.
One of the best restaurants in York County. Period. If you don't like First Post, then you don't like good food.
The atmosphere is great, but like many places, the service is sometimes "hit-or-miss". The Craft cocktails are almost always excellent. The first post punch is always great.
We moved York in October. We have tried several area restaurants. We have had a gift card for The First Post, but have never managed to get over there. Well we finally did and all I can say is Wow! The staff are friendly and polite. The food is excellent. This quaint place has it all, especially if you like seafood. Many dishes from which to choose, like the scallops with pumpkin risotto. If seafood isn't your thing, don't worry. The First Post has plenty other choices, like the giant pork chop that I got. Great place for a date or dinner with the family.

First time visiting this restaurant. We came with friends who had been there before. Food: my wife and I both got the crab soup which, by itself, is 5 stars. Very creamy, not thick or pasty like typical cream soup base soups. I got the NY strip steak, something I rarely do, but took a chance. Ordered it very, very, rare and it came cooked a little more than I would have liked, but still in the neighborhood of rare. It was very good, the spinach and fingerling potatoes were top notch. My wife got the fish and chips. French fries, not chips, were acceptable but not exceptional. The fish was firm but a bit dry. You can almost see that in the picture. Another in our party got a mushroom ravioli dish which was phenomenal...I tasted it. My friend got the short rib which he said was wonderful but I did not try it. Service: this was lacking. Our server was just fine but I suspect slowed significantly by the kitchen. Our appetizers came staggered...it should not have taken 20 minutes to get soup.(The restaurant was not slammed) She came to the table at one point and apologetically told us the soup would be ready soon. I saw several orders of oysters delivered to other tables but did not see them on the menu anywhere. The two issues that reduced the rating from 5 to 4 stars was the service speed and the dry fish. I would certainly go there again. The prices were appropriate.
Great atmosphere and staff. The food was first rate. The bbq short rib was tender and a great flavor. My colleague, from the South, had the fried chicken on special, he said it was the best he ever had. Definitely a great spot.
The food is always spot on. Had the salmon most recently. Delicious. Great service. Make a reservation or you will wait. All the starters are amazing. Had calamari this visit. Almost always get the Scotch Eggs. Cream of crab is a great starter too.
The restaurant is fairly big, but even with a large space, I'm glad I called in make a reservation. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening! The crab dip was delicious and the calamari was good (see picture). My party of 3 had different plates and all were satisfied. Would recommend.
Man what a great place! We went for lunch and the experience was wonderful. Took a seat at the bar and ordered a mixed drink for my lady, and a beer for myself. The menu was full of things we wanted to try. We settled on the seared tuna for an appetizer. Perfect sear, tender tuna, nice flavor with the cilantro and pepper. For the entree we had the fish and chips which came with slaw, and the shrimp , scallop Florentine which came with a Caesar salad. Both entree's were fabulous. Billy our tender was prompt and courteous. After the meal my lady had a coffee. Good coffee. The restaurant was filled with beautiful people! The restroom was clean and convenient. So glad to have found this gem in York.
