I love this place. It's honestly the best Mediterranean food in Ann Arbor. Don't be turned off because it's in a gas station, the food is delicious and fresh. They make everything fresh to order, last time I was there the guy made a salad right in front of me. Every time I go here, they throws in something for free and they're just so nice. Their garlic sauce is amazing. Definitely go here.
What I ordered: Shawarma plate (lunch menu) $9.54, received lots of meat over rice, includes tomatoes & pickles, tahini sauce sides, & free pita bread.
My review:
- No seating, but fast! Nice staff.
- I wanted real meat from vertical rotisserie (not the ground stuff like greek gyro), and this place gave me just what I wanted!
- I think I saw lamb on the menu and that's what I ordered, I think, but after looking at the menu online, I'm not sure if I ate beef or lamb (my problem, but you should probably check with the staff if you don't eat either).
- I got rice and its a bit moist and I personally don't like the type of grain, so I think I will get fries next time (person in front of me got them and they looked amazing, thick cut and freshly fried!)
- Portion size is great even though it's not "cheap," and it seems like there's a lot of choices on the menu, like shish kabob, tawook, falafel, sandwiches, salads, etc.
This is a hole-in-the-wall that I probably wouldn't have discovered if it weren't for GrubHub. Don't be put off by the fact that it's attached to a gas station. I get the meat shawarma and the gyro from them all the time, and I think both of these menu items are actually better than their equivalent at any of the more popular local establishments I've visited that serve this type of cuisine. The lamb here never disappoints.
