We arrived on Saturday evening for dinner. The atmosphere was outstanding from the start! We were seated along the wall of windows overlooking the river. Our server, Joy, attended to us immediately and continued throughout our stay. We ordered entrees of Chicken Marsala and Scallops and Steak. Both meals were fabulous, not only in presentation, but flavor and portions, as well. Our experience was so good, that we decided to come back in the morning for brunch, since were staying overnight in Appleton anyway. The brunch was another great experience – we both dined on the lobster and shrimp with cheeses omelet. The warmed sticky roll presented after we sat down was delicious, which we enjoyed with our coffees while waiting for the entrees. The seating was, again, along the window wall – the mallard ducks and snow certainly made for a lovely view. Thank you for making our time in Appleton a very pleasant one.
Delicious fresh food! Great Atmosphere! Great Waitstaff & Host!
I haven't been here in awhile and I was pleasantly reminded how much I have been missing out. It's tucked away at the bottom of the hill in downtown Appleton right by the locks. All staff was excellent-attentive and friendly from beginning to end of our dining experience. Fratello's has an open atmosphere with multiple options for great views of the water. This openness continues with clean lines of decor and white linens to gave way to a comforting reassurance that I chose the right place to enjoy our luncheon. Even with the open-airy feel, we were still able to hold a private conversation with each other without hearing our neighbors or extra background noise.
We both enjoyed Bam, Bam Shrimp for appetizers. Huge portion to share among us. The shrimp were a good size with a light, airy batter presented on spinach leaves. We had the Bam, Bam sauce on the side just in case it was too spicy. It was not spicy but it had a great little creamy kick to it.
Shortly afterward, our main course came. What was nice about dining for a late lunch on a Saturday was the option of brunch items to choose from. We both got Eggs Monterey. The poached eggs were perfect-I was thoroughly impressed. They were placed over delectable crab cakes with sliced tomatoes as well as spinach sauteed composed on a toasted circular croissant with just the right amount of Hollandaise sauce to compliment the entry.
Everything about this place is amazing! The food selection and quality was great, and the view/history of the place is perfect for a romantic setting. Highly recommend checking it out! Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be back!
