Albatross is easily the best bar in New York City. You read that right. Of thousands of bars, hundreds of gay bars, and all 5 boroughs, Albatross is the best. Why? Chill atmosphere. Good people. Attentive, knowledgeable bar staff. An actual stage for the shows and events they have, with a top notch sound and lighting system. Management and owners who actually care about the people who come in and the neighborhood. Is it fancy? No. Is it swanky? No. Do they have food? No. It's a bar, not a restaurant, and you're in Queens, not Hell's Kitchen. Thank goodness for Albatross.
Don't waste time looking for any other place in any other borough. Take the N/W, the M60, Uber or Lyft. The only remotely disappointing thing is not finding a seat for the Grade A drag shows with some of the best performers out there. If I had to compare it to anything, it's the gay version of Lobo from the sitcom Roseanne. Rustic and irreverent but welcoming at the same time. Bartenders are great and friendly as well as the patrons.
When I die, cremate me and throw my ashes in that cute bartender Jackson’s face.
