This was the best meal I've had in Austin and it isn't even close. The ambience was wonderful, the wait staff's knowledge and passion for the food they were serving was sincere and enjoyable and the food itself was spectacular. I cannot wait to visit this place again.

Wow. I was in Austin for a work event and on our last evening in town I decided to take my team for a celebratory dinner. The restaurant was recommended by a collegue. It was impeccable. I come the NYC/Providence food scene and this place blew me away. Easily top 5 meals I’ve ever had. We ordered multiple orders of nearly 1 of everything on the menu. Each order was consistent, fresh, delicious. The service was attentive amd knowledgable. I very much enjoyed that the service staff “shared” our table. It seemed that each new server who delieved each course did so because they were the most passionate about that course. The Cacio e Pepe and the Cauliflower were hands down my favorites. My team does have various dietary restrictions including a gluten intolerance, dairy allergy and tree nut allergy and all of them were well taken care of. Highly, highly recommended

It's a must try. I don't know if we picked the best items or what, but all of the flavors worked so well together. The chef clearly has a well crystallized and executed vision. The flavor profiles were magical, I can't say I've been this blown away anywhere. We felt like we robbed this place after seeing the check.

Exceptional food, service and the dim sum cart was out of this world. Our server was also the sommelier and she was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Stellar service and simply amazing food! Emmer and Rye has been on Eater Austin's Essential 38 Restaurant list for a while. As I have worked my way through a lot of that list this restaurant just shot to the best I have had off of it. For the price, this has to be one of the best meals in Austin, without question.

Emmer & Rye is hands down our favorite restaurant in the ENTIRE country. And that's saying something. My husband and I travel the country and everywhere we go we look for these special restaurants. At Emmer & Rye we walk in and feel at home, like we're with family. Everyone there is a foodie, so passionate about their craft. Hillary was our first server and she totally nerded out with us as she explained their entire concept and in house fermentation process. We could feel good about eating there because they sourced locally and farmed sustainably. We were hooked. Since then we've had a string of amazing people take care of us. The food is incredible. Kevin, Tavelle and Paige create the most unique and playful cuisine with ingredients you would never think to introduce. We mentioned once we were celebrating a new job and half of the staff came and congratulated us. On our first visit after getting married we received a card signed by the entire staff, as well as verbal congratulations by everyone that passed us. They offer no mere ordinary experience, whether it's from the service or the kitchen. My husband and I look for any and every excuse to drive the 45 minutes to Austin to come to Emmer and Rye and that will not change once we move to Houston. It will always be well worth the drive.

So much flavor in each and every bite. It’s priced by the bite... but for a meal of a lifetime it’s definitely worth it

Beautiful restaurant with delicious and unique food and great service. The brunch punch is the best brunch cocktail I’ve ever had. Ask for Anna she was wonderful.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Austin happens to be down my block. No one melds flavors and creates such inventive dishes as Emmer & Rye. It’s a home chef, I tend to be picky when I go out to eat and will only go to fine restaurants. This place elevates everything they make. Every bite is unique and an explosion of deliciousness in your palate. I could come every day but I’d be poor very quick. It’s on the pricey side but worth every penny. The only cons I can say is the wine list is very limited on the under $50 side. Also when dining at the bar which is what we tend to do, be nice bartenders.. It’s austin. Check the attitudes outside.

Exceptional food , service. A wonderful experience. As a vegetarian I rarely find a restaurant I rave about. This place is an exception ! Highly recommend.

We tried our luck and happily got seats at the bar to dine. Service was warm, friendly and helpful. Wine recommendations were all spot on. The food was next level. One of the best meals had in two weeks of dining out every day! Seasonal, fresh and creative, every dish was surprising, thoughtful and above all else, super tasty. Getting hungry just thinking about it…

*spoiler alert* Tried the 9-course corn themed 🌽 summer set. Photos are included to give you a sense about what’s included. The courses were fun and whimsical! There were some bold flavor combos that are sure to surprise and (probably) delight you. I took my partner here as a special date because she loves corn. Who can relate? My one critique is the service setup. Like a lot of Austin restaurants these days, you don’t really have a dedicated server. The whole staff is checking in on you and it feels a bit less personal. I enjoy having a dedicated server, esp in a fine dining atmosphere. See

We opted for the Texas beef wagyu showcase, which is only a few days old to the menu. It consists of a 10 course meal and the table must participate. In addition we ordered the raw oysters and crudo which were a nice addition. The meal coursing with the 2 added items was the perfect amount of food and everyone left satisfied. My favorites were the oysters on the rice crisps, the crudo and the tortellini in the beef broth, yes please - the broth alone was bathable. The service was fantastic and so were the cocktails. $12 valet available. I’d definitely go back and try other items.

The food here was great, but not what I was expecting. I saw it on OpenTable and the entrees seemed very reasonably priced, until I got there and was surprised. As they tell you when ordering, everything is meant to be shared but they’re small plates. The small plates part is no exaggeration, they’re very small. I got an espresso martini which was priced normal for Austin ($17). We ordered the Cacio e Pepe, the crudo, and Chicken (what it was named on the menu). The Cacio e Pepe was probably the best I’ve ever had, but the portion was so small sharing it with my gf we both got two swirls of the fork and it was gone, which for $20 is wild. The Crudo which is red snapper my gf liked, I tried it but don’t like raw fish so yeah. The “chicken” was chicken and potatoes with a sauces and peanuts, this was also very good but I believe was like $36. We opted to get a dessert called the Chocolate chip, which was surprisingly really good. Some kind of chip on top of ice cream, tasted like a chocolate chip cookie. All together we had 3 cocktails, a dessert and 3 small plates, our total was about $180 after tip. I will say the food was great but customers should be aware online that these are very small plates. I left and wanted to pick up food from somewhere because I was still hungry. Compared to some of the nicest restaurants in the city I would say this is place is overpriced for the amount of food you get. Also something weird I encountered is it was really hard to hear, not because the restaurant was excessively loud, but something about how it’d build made it feel like I just got off an airplane. And the bathrooms are insanely hot, they feel like they were built in a closet area, with no air conditioning

Seasonal “Maize” meal selection was great! The Chef’s Table is the best seat in the house. Max and I had a great conversation about the foods he was preparing right in front of us.

I enjoyed the service the most here. You feel really taken care of. I like that they explain each dish in deep detail when they bring it out to you Ranking what we tried from most to least favorite: 1. Crudo 5/5 2. Tartare 5/5 - i like that there is some crunchy texture in it 3. Cacio e pepe 4.5/5 - i know everyone raves about this dish, and its cooked to a perfect al dente, but i just thought the crudo and taretare were more unique. However, this was my date’s favorite dish 😋 4. Cucumber dish 3.5/5 - the sauce was the best thing on it 4. A fish dish 3.5/5 - not worth the money… very bland and basic If i ever came back here, id prob try their tasting menu instead to see if thats better

Small shareable plates that can't go wrong. Definitely order the cacio e pepe pasta. Tasty dishes and great service. Also a decent wine selection!

We went here for my wife's birthday. Overall, the restaurant experience was great. The atmosphere/vibe was on point. The open kitchen allowed you to see the quality and care that was put into each plate. And the service was some of the best you'll ever have. I will say, for some reason I just wasn't the biggest fan of the main dishes I ordered (the pork chop, and chicken). I completed each dish, I just felt like I've had better for cheaper. I guess it didn't live up to my expectations. I didn't try the wagyu and maybe that's where I went wrong. I would love to go back again and give the wagyu a try. Strangely.. I felt like the zucchini, the snapper, the noodles, and the sour dough bread were the best parts of my meal! The sour dough bread especially!! I want to go back and try the wagyu...I'll update my review afterwards.

Wow what a nice place! Good: - Super aesthetic and modern interior - felt like it was special the moment we walked in - super energetic staff, they all convinced us to try the Gulf of Mexico set course - each dish was different, my favorites were the cabbage, the mushroom risotto, the ceviche and the oysters. Every dish was unique and so so tasty. Bad - A little expensive for the portions we got, but overall I didn’t regret getting the Gulf of Mexico! Overall loved this place as a romantic date location for me and my boyfriend!

My husband and I went for a special birthday dinner, and E&R did not disappoint. We both had the tasting menu, which was incredible; I opted for the wine pairings, and my non-drinking husband had a couple different non-alcohol interesting drinks that were offered. Our sommelier was amazing, I loved the wine selections. Every course was a delight - I've put in a few photos - some we ate so quickly that a photo wasn't possible! The entire staff is attentive, knowledgeable and seem to take great pride in what they present. Our every need was seen to, and we felt very special on a special occasion. Bravo!

We visited Emmer & Rye for the first time in November when we were in Austin for the Food and Wine Festival and were blown away by every dish in their tasting menu. We were excited to come back now that we came back into the city and while we had a great experience some things were a bit of a letdown: The tasting menu was duck/rabbit focused which meant we didn’t end up going for it but understand menus change seasonally so it was okay. The crudo was perfectly balanced and delicious. The carrot dish while creative and interesting was a bit unbalanced - the seasoning was a bit heavy considering there was way too little lebneh to balance it. I wish they either added more of it or distributed it in a way that didn’t make the entire dish feel dry. The cabbage was epic. So creative and texturally balanced. Incredible. The sourdough was amazing. The cultured butter, honey and jam, all perfect. The cacio e pepe is perfection but it’s not a cacio e pepe. With my husband being Italian - born and raised - I know this is a point of contention but all is forgiven because every single bite is sublime. The best kind of comfort food and feeling possible. The pork belly with the pickled onion and roasted carrots was perfectly balanced. Loved. The dessert is where they lost us. First, there is no hot option but rather all options are ice cream based which works for a summer menu but when it’s 45 degrees you do need to add something that isn’t ice cream based as an option. That being said we still went for it and got the chocolate chip yet both my husband and I concurred that dish did not have chocolate and tasted like porcini sorbet. Not something you want to end your meal on and a big let down. I hope they really upgrade their dessert options by the time come back. Cocktails were not too creative or delicious. Average. Overall we still love E&R but had to dock a star because even though the meal was still delicious there were definitely misses that I think could be worked on to bring it back to the literally perfect experience we had a few months back.

i can’t say enough great things about the staff, and farm-to-table curated dinner tasting! everything was thoughtfully paired, plated beautifully, and a mesh of wonderful textures and flavors that make it a delightful dining experience. cody, the sommelier, was amazing & i loved the dryer wine at the start and the dessert wine at the end of the meal. ej/eliza jane had phenomenal cocktail recommendations, and multiple servers came together to make sure we had exemplary service. 10/10 would dine here again next time i’m in austin! :)

I've never had a bad meal here and while it's on the pricier side, I really feel like the value is high. I always leave feeling surprised it didn't cost more. The food is always flavorful and different and the wine list is lovely. The only downside is it does get a little loud in the dining room. Otherwise for me it's a safe bet for good food and a nice experience.

Cute restaurant, nice ambiance, delicious food but there were a couple dishes with either too much flavor or not enough. We got the Wagyu tartar starter, which was excellent, however, the Wagyu brisket was dry with little flavor. We also got the Amberjack, which was very good but the sauce was a bit too herb-y, the bread and butter, which was very good, and the Pork, which was our absolute favorite. Overall, the food is excellent and we love that it’s locally sourced and in season. My 4 star review is purely based on the dishes not quite meeting my expectation for their price.

My partner and I went here for the first time on 11/17 and we really enjoyed it. Friendly staff, very good food and a pleasant atmosphere. There was only one dish we didn't love, which was really more due to our preferences than any issue with quality. We especially loved the Crudo and the Cacio e Pepe.

I can not say enough good things about the food. Our party of 6 loved every dish. None of us were crazy about the cocktail list though, just not our jam. The food is easily enough to have us returning
