I’ve left a couple 5 star restaurant reviews before, but Garrison is one of those standouts that truly deserve it. We came here to celebrate my birthday and were blown away.
Food standouts: Truffle tater tots, kampachi crudo, blueberry foie gras parfait, and akushi porterhouse steak. When most places have a truffle and potatoes dish of some kind, I typically just get a dusting of truffle seasoning or flavor. The tater tots at Garrison have multiple layers of fresh shaved truffle all over the top. Their crudo of yellowtail has generous cuts of fish. The blueberry foie gras parfait was hands down one of the most interesting and surprising flavor combinations I’ve ever had. And the porterhouse was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and prepared ready to share. I also loved that every plate was made to share, which is how we like to usually eat anyway.
Service was superb. Our server answered specific menu and ingredient questions, gave great recs, was attentive but didn’t hover unnecessarily—just great.
Ambience and vibe felt elevated without being stuffy. Being inside the Fairmont was festive, since it was around the holidays, and parking was free after being validated at the restaurant. Great pick for a special occasion or Austin style fine dining. We’ll absolutely be back.
I think the service at Garrison is the best I’ve been served. The server took great care of our table. They kept checking to make sure we had all we need. They changed the silverware after each dish. The food came in smaller portion than some other restaurants but they were excellent.
You can park in the Fairmont hotel’s garage.
One of the most underrated fine dining experiences in Austin for sure, everything is well prepared, very creative, and a good combination of flavors. All the dishes we ordered were perfectly cooked and the service was really great. Cooking with a wood fire is complicated but they do it amazingly and beyond our expectations. Definitely a hidden gem!
