A detour stop in Bakersfield late afternoon for Indian food travelling from vegas to bay area. Pleasantly surprised by the decor. Great ambience. Courteous staff. Owner Tejinder Singh made recommendations and claimed the Viceroy for was the only Indian fine dining in Bakersfield. Ordered plenty vegetarian and meat dishes. Amritsari fish, Tandoori Chicken, Rogan Josh, Butter chicker, aaloo gobi, daal makhni, matar paneer .. tandoori roti and laccha parantha.. topped with Taj mahal beer and masala chai. Gajar halwa to go..Quite a treat.. spices were mild though flavorful. Potato in aalo gobhi undercooked. Too much haldi (turmeric) leaves fingers yellow for a full day even after washing hands thoroughly. Recommended and enocurage visiting other fine dining to inspire and improve.
The food here is delicious! I loved the chicken pistachio entree and the the lamb pistachio! I definitely recommend anyone give this place a try. It’s very nice inside and their patio is beautiful as well. The employees there are very nice and helpful when you don’t know what to order. I tried 2 soups, one being tomato basil and they were both DELICIOUS! I’m Mexican American and their food really reminds me of some authentic Mexican foods (mole and birria) with their own Indian twist!! Delicious!!
The food is AMAZING. Staff is great. We’ve been coming here and ONLY here to get Indian food. The atmosphere is romantic, the staff is friendly. The butter chicken, girlllll. Good stuff. And very spicy. So be careful. Because they’re not scared to give you some good spice!
Highly recommend. If it’s your first time order something to share with your person. The amount of food they give you is very generous.
The bad reviews had me FLOORED, because I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this place.
