As a food critic of the AFJ, I eat in many, many venues all over NY and beyond! Never have I found a more friendly, comfortable restaurant where the staff is so friendly and appeasing, especially the manager, Kelly! The food here is the ultimate comfort food with a large array of items including items you won't find other places like their guacamole shrimp boats! Their soups are excellent! I've had their lobster bisque, escarole and bean, stracciatella, chowders and chicken soup, which are all delicious! Tons of salads and appetizers and a vast array of entrees! Everyday is a special, like their Monday and Tuesday Steak special. The steak I had was juicy and cooked just right! Their wings have won awards and come with a choice of over 5 sauces! They have on Sundays "Nonna's Spaghetti and meatballs" which is just as good as moms and at $10 for a big plate with side salad and bread a great deal! They do serve wine and beer but no hard alcohol and only accept cash but provide a ATM machine in the entrance! The Ice House is family owned by Terry and Justin, who are sweethearts. The restaurant overlooks the Hammond Cove of the East River and the view of the Throggs Neck Bridge at night is spectacular! They were also awarded best Bronx Restaurant in 2014 by the Tasty Ladies NY after a poll was taken and they won by a landslide! Put this one on your list of places to try in the Bronx!
