Must visit. This is food and drink that delivers not only satisfaction but delight, and comfort. Great care goes into the selection of high quality ingredients and preparation of the food, with the recipes containing contemporary twists along with a familiar, time-tested approach. Wine and beer selection addresses the menu expertly. The warm atmosphere has added to the great taste of the food, and Chio has warrented several visits in the last few months
Wow. WOW!. My wife and i live a block away from chio. we went reluctantly after another nearby place had a mysterious waiting time of 90 minutes. Just an FYI - we've been very lucky to have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the world. I am also Italian, and it has always saddened me that no restaurant nearby has ever served authentic Italian cuisine with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. We had our two young children with us and ordered the veal & ricotta meatballs and a margherita flatbread(pizza). Even these were outstanding. My wife had the chitarra, which almost made her cry for joy, and i had the cavatelli(real homemade cavatelli) with fennel sausage and brocolli rabe. We told the waitress (who was terrific!) that we would have licked the plates had shame not taken over.
It was easily the best food we've had in the twenty years we've lived and dined in the Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill area. Only Saul was on par with this, and we had outdoor seating to boot. We even got dessert, which we never do, and the marscapone with caramlized figs almost made me want to consider renaming my son to whatever the chef's name is.
Please, please, please, don't let this place be shadowed or judged by Italian fare in the neighborhood. It reminded me of my last time in Rome, not because of the type of food, but because the ingredients were so fresh, the pasta, cheese and sausage so perfect.
Outstanding.
Delicious. Worth the trip. Low key. Same great taste and location as Pok Pok but without the lines.
