My wife and happened to be walking by around dinner time so we stopped in here. We ordered a Mussaman curry with beef and a Singapore noodle with chicken. The Singapore noodle was listed as Southern Thailand style which was interesting to us since we are fans of regular Singapore noodles, so we wanted to try it. It seems like they just used the noodles from a pad Thai for this dish and it was good but I wouldn’t go out of the way to order that again. The Mussaman was really good. A couple things that I noticed about this place was rice doesn’t come with your entree order, that’s a first of any Thai restaurant we have ever been too. It was $3 for a large jasmine rice, not a big deal at all but I still found it strange since most Thai places will bring you a second round of rice for free. I also noticed they didn’t ask what spice level we wanted our food and because of that, we totally forgot to ask for it spicy so both entrees were mildly spicy. These are just a few quirks we noticed about this place but it wouldn’t stop us from dining there again. We will go back and try some other items.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was brought to our table a few minutes after we placed our order.
Visited here on a trip from NYC. I think this was the best Massaman curry I’ve ever had in the US. When you walk in, the setting is very simple. We almost wondered if we were in the right place. Don’t be fooled this place is bomb. We got there at about 7 it was moderately full but by 730 there was a line out the door so locals know what’s up. Portions are very large and easily shareable with a group. There are also plenty of vegan and vegetarian items which makes it easy for our difficult friends lol. I will absolutely come back the next time I am in Chicago.
We were greeted by the owner, Eddie, who immediately let us know that the meat was halal for anyone looking for a delicious Thai option that is halal in the area.
He recommended an appetizer of grilled chicken and beef served with peanut sauce and tamarind sauce. We also ordered a whole snapper that was deep fried, shrimp shumai, tom yum soup and pad khee mao.
The service was very attentive, we were there early so we beat the dinner rush and had no wait time. Eddie came and checked in on us and we told him everything was delicious—it was! If it’s not on the table and you like spicy food, ask them for the hot sauce.
