This isn't where I'd normally end up, but based on the reviews and location it seemed unfair to ignore the Rebar. Other than the name on the building there was nothing about this place that was political. Regardless of your affiliation this is a good bar with great service, good drinks, and a decent view; although, if you want a better view go upstairs to the roof top bar Sixteen.
This was my first bar I stopped into at Chicago and Fernando, the bartender, gave me a great experience that set the bar for the rest of the trip.
I got a Purple Rain and a Generation X Old Fashioned. The purple rain is basically a gin fizz, one of my favorite cocktails. The egg was frosty enough to sweeten the drink, but not meringue like a Ramos (my actual favorite). It was delicious and easy to drink.
The old fashioned was mildly smokey, with a sweet touch. A good combination for a smooth beverage. If you want a cocktail, a quiet bar, friendly staff, and a nice view this is a decent spot to stop into.
Rebar is a chic, high end bar on the second floor of Trump Tower. It overlooks the river. Reservations are preferred but if you're there just for some drinks, there are dedicated tables and of course the bar itself for those dropping by. That of course also depends on how busy they are. The service is phenomenal and our bartender, Diane, was lovely as ever. She served us when we were at 16 Terrace a couple of years ago and even remembered us!
They have a full bar with lots of exotic cocktails, wines, and liquors. If you order shots, you will be served a double. Prices seem to average 15 for that double shot. This is a great spot to stop before going out on a night on the town if you prefer to have dinner at a less expensive place. As far as bars go, this is one of the more affordable ones I've been to in Chicago. Dress code is business casual.
Great views of the Chicago River, sophisticated cocktails, and professional service. Top notch bar in Chicago!
