A friend and I were on our way to Melrose for a bite to eat after the Cubs parade. I mentioned how much I loved the old sign on the front that simply just reads "Grill". He then told me that he'd been there before and it wasn't anything fancy but the food was good. I told him that I was down for a new experience. I'm glad that I did. Walking inside reminded me of a long gone diner in my hometown of Crawfordsville, IN "The Snacker". It was like stepping back in time to being a kid with my dad to get a burger there, all the way down to the menu board above the counter. It has a seasoned atmosphere but is very clean indeed. I had a double cheeseburger with fries. The burger was very tasty and the fries hot and crisp! I was very satisfied with my meal and can't wait to come back! The staff is quirky, fun, and super nice, my kind of people. I have a place in Indy similar to it named "Peppy Gill". A small hole in the wall diner with some of the best food you will ever have. I am glad to know that I have a favorite "greasy spoon" (and I use that term with much love) in Chicago to add to my other favorite places. And I can't wait to come back for a banana split! I saw those bananas on yelp. I would use them too! I will be back!
Good food very different than the regular fast food this was actually like a bbq in the backyard kind of meal. We stopped by after the Blue Man Group performance we were hungry and it was a good choice to stop here and eat
Still after all these years this is still an awesome place to eat! Great place to get a bite to eat and maybe meet some locals. It's has its own warm friendly atmosphere and I would definitely recommend to check out the great food and people!
