The little blue restaurant on Argyle. Nha Hang demands attention yet is humble in its presentation and high quality of service.
Located in the Little Saigon neighborhood of Chicago, Nha Hang is a bit further away from the more popular restaurants near Argyle station. But what it lacks in proximity to the CTA station, it makes up for in what it delivers.
To begin, the menu here is EXTENSIVE. One can come here many many times and still not try everything that Nha Hang offers. There are a ton of traditional and homemade dishes that will fill any need. It tastes as good as homemade Vietnamese food and I have not found anything I dislike. Price is inexpensive but quality and quantity are top-notch.
And the service here is amazing. Staff quickly tend to all needs, answer any questions, and down-to-earth. One gets the feeling of being "part of the family" more than being at a restaurant while dining here.
5/5. A corner restaurant with a lot of soul and heart. A true gem of Argyle.
Incredible flavor and beautiful food. Service was the BEST. Super affordable prices and big portions.
COVID related sanitation protocol not so good. Outdoor seating experience marred by bugs and crackheads.
Pros - Best service. The waiter was perfectly attentive and understanding of our inexperience with the food. I asked for his recommendation. After asking me several questions such as if I felt like soup, spicy or not, and what kind of meat I like, he was able to make a great recommendation for me. As someone who struggled with this HUGE menu, I really appreciated that!
The food was so delicious, affordable and enormous in size. Produce was so fresh! Thank you Nha Hang.
The cons - if you’re looking for perfect sanitation protocol in the front of the house because of COVID, look elsewhere. Staff literally just took condiments, paper towels and utensils from another table where customers left and gave it to us. No sanitation.
When you’re on the patio, it’s lovely at first... until the flies and bees set in on your food. Don’t forget the beautiful ambiance that wandering Argyle crackheads offer to your vibe. I spent more time swatting bugs and listening to drugged out people across the street screaming, than taking bites of my food. Most frustrating dining experience I’ve had in a while.
My advice to the restaurant - set out fly traps concealed in the bushes. They really work and they would help your customers feel cleaner! Also - I know it’s not authentic to SE Asia, but for now I think it’s best to remove and sanitize all objects from the table before placing them on a new customer’s table. Customers notice this.
You know what. I came to this place TWICE so far and both times were pretty flawless in my opinion. Everything is full of flavor. The owners and employees are so adorable. And I really appreciate there hard work and hours of availability.
